Midleton & Youghal in East Cork Junior A Football Championship Semi Final Thriller 11/10/2026
Heartbreak After Epic Battle as Our Championship Journey Ends
There was immense disappointment in Killeagh last Sunday as our East Cork Junior A Football Championship campaign came to an end following an absorbing extra-time encounter with Youghal. While the final score read Midleton 1-11, Youghal 1-15, the margin scarcely reflected a game that was in the balance right to the closing stages.
We struggled to find our rhythm in the opening half as Youghal settled quicker and made the most of their opportunities. Their goal proved a crucial score and helped them build a four-point lead despite our efforts to stay in touch through some important points.
Half-Time: Midleton 0-05 Youghal 1-06
To the credit of this group, there was a tremendous response after the break. With our season on the line, we showed real character and determination, gradually eating into the deficit through increased intensity and work rate all over the field.
A crucial Midleton goal completely changed the momentum of the contest and breathed fresh life into our challenge. As confidence grew, we continued to drive forward and were rewarded by drawing level after a superb second-half display. Having trailed by four points at the interval, we outscored Youghal 1-06 to 0-05 in the second period to force extra time.
Full-Time: Midleton 1-11 Youghal 1-11
The additional 20 minutes became a true test of resolve. Every ball was fiercely contested and neither side was willing to give an inch. We remained right in the contest throughout the first period of extra time and trailed by just a single point at the turnaround.
Extra-Time Half-Time: Midleton 1-11 Youghal 1-12
Unfortunately, after investing so much physically and emotionally into our comeback, the final ten minutes proved decisive. As fatigue began to take hold, Youghal found the scores they needed and finished strongly with four unanswered points to seal victory and advance to the final.
While the result is a painful one to accept, there is enormous pride in the spirit shown by this Midleton team. Faced with a significant challenge at half-time, we refused to give in and produced a fightback that looked capable of carrying us all the way. Ultimately, it wasn't to be, but the commitment, resilience and heart displayed by every member on our panel could never be questioned.
This defeat will hurt, but the way we battled until the very end ensured that we left Killeagh with our heads held high.

Midleton & Carrigtwohill in U21 East Cork Football Quarter Final 13/10/2026
We Power into U21A Semi-Final with Convincing Win Over Carrigtwohill
U21A Football Championship Quarter-Final
Midleton 3-12
Carrigtwohill 1-05
We secured our place in the U21A Football Championship semi-final with a commanding display against Carrigtwohill, producing an impressive all-round performance to claim a deserved 13-point victory.
From the opening whistle, we played with intensity and purpose, taking control in key areas of the field and setting the tone for much of the contest. Strong defensive work restricted Carrigtwohill's opportunities while our attack looked dangerous whenever we moved the ball forward.
A first-half goal from Cian Lambe provided the breakthrough and helped us establish control of the game. Combined with excellent point-taking from Seán McSharry, Calum O'Brien and Darragh Egan, the Magpies built a healthy advantage despite Carrigtwohill finding the net during the opening period.
Sean McSharry was particularly influential throughout, finishing as our top scorer with five points, while Calum O'Brien contributed two first-half points and Darragh Egan added a score of his own as we built a strong lead.
Half-Time: Midleton 1-05 Carrigtwohill 1-01
Any hopes of a Carrigtwohill revival after the restart were quickly extinguished as we raised our game once more. With the defence remaining solid and disciplined, our forwards continued to make the most of their opportunities.
The standout contribution came from Conor Morley, who made a huge impact in the second half. Conor struck 2-01, including two well-taken goals that effectively put the result beyond doubt and capped a superb team performance.
Further scores from Seán McSharry, Calum O'Brien, Darragh Egan and Nicky Coughlan ensured we maintained complete control as the game progressed. Calum O'Brien finished with three points, Darragh Egan contributed two points, one in each half, while Nicky Coughlan added an important second-half score.
At the final whistle, we were rewarded with a comprehensive 3-12 to 1-05 victory and a well-earned place in the championship semi-final.
This was a mature and composed performance from the group. Strong defensively, clinical in attack and relentless in work rate, we controlled the contest for long periods and never allowed Carrigtwohill to gain sustained momentum.
With a semi-final now awaiting V Glenville, there is plenty to be encouraged by. The balance of defensive solidity, midfield energy and attacking firepower on display suggests this talented group will move forward with confidence as the championship reaches its business end.

U16
Our U16’s played a hard-fought battle against Carrigtwohill under the lights in Park South on Sunday 11th October. Midleton got off to a good start with an early goal, but Carrig kept up the pressure throughout. The work rate from the girls was exceptional, and after a nail-biting final five minutes, Midleton came out on top on a scoreline of 3-5 to 2-5!The girls are now through to a County Final! A fantastic achievement for this team. Thanks to the younger girls who played up and to the entire squad who have contributed throughout the championship campaign to help this team reach the final. Thanks again to Saoirse for captaining on the night. One more to go!

U14
Our u14 girls played their final match of the Autumn League on Tuesday 13th Oct against a strong Carrigaline team. Captained by Eve the girls got off to a great start however following a tough battle Carrigaline pulled away in the second half and came away with the win. Hard luck to the girls who never gave up.

Captained by Amber on a biting cold evening on Sunday 18th Oct in Park South, our U14B championship semifinal took place V Douglas. They were a fast, physical team with very strong forwards.
We were unlucky to go down a few scores in the first half and we struggled to get a hold of the game.
In the second half we seemed to find our footing and battled hard in midfield and the back lines but we just couldn’t get on top and were unable to get the scores. It was too little too late on this occasion. It wasn’t to be our night. Thanks to Shane for reffing and congratulations to Douglas on getting through to the final. A fantastic year for a great bunch of girls
