BRIDE ROVERS GAA NOTES.
 EAST CORK FINAL BUILD UP..
It’s only a little over a week away from the East Cork Final and the excitement  is mounting as we try and win the Jamesy Kelleher Cup for the first time since 1998. Since Bride Rovers was formed in 1928 we have contested the East Cork Blue Riband on 11 occasions already - 13 if one counts replays. Sunday week in Cloyne will be our 12th occasion. Last year we made history when our second  team reached the decider and we’ve repeated that feat this season. Our Lotto Jackpot of €5200 was not won last week. We extend best wishes this weekend to Ballyhooley as they attempt to win the North Cork JAHC for the first time.
WEELKY CLUB LOTTO.  The Lotto Results for Tuesday the 6th of October were as follows. The four  Numbers drawn were 1, 2, 22 & 24 and there was no Jackpot Winner.  Congrats also to our lucky dip €30 cash winners Margaret Hurley, Rathcormac,  Anke Fitzgerald, Glenagoul,  Brian Murphy, Raheen, Joe Barry, Kill St Anne and  Felicity Hanrahan, Araglen
This week's jackpot on Tuesday October13th was an impressive €5,400.
If your ticket has expired, we would appreciate if you would enter again via
Bride Rovers GAA Lotto
Tickets for the weekly draw cost just €2 each and can be purchased from Club members, in local businesses and online. A yearly ticket costs €90 and at this time of year would be a great present for family and friends.
REBEL Og u 12 FOOTBALL. A huge well done to the Bride Rovers Under12s (Div 3) who secured a fantastic victory over Killeagh in the Football Final on Saturday last, 10th October in Glenville.
After a hard-fought and competitive match, the boys put in a tremendous team performance to come away with a deserved win on a scoreline of 6-2 to 2-7. Their effort, determination and teamwork throughout the game were excellent and they can be very proud of their achievement.
Attention now turns to next Saturday when the team will compete in the (Div 1) Hurling Final against Sarsfields, with throw-in at 1.00pm. Venue details are to be confirmed.
Team - Aaron Collins, Aaron Murphy, Adam McCarthy, Alan Finn, Bobbie Hoskins, Chris Kearney, Conor Hogan, Conor Howe, Conor O'Leary, Curtis Kelleher, Darragh Healy, Dave Fitzpatrick, Gearoid Dorgan, Harry Ryan, Killian Murphy (C) , Liam Ryan, Mark Kearney, Max Radley, Micheál Flynn, Petr Kiraly, Robbie Scanlon and Ronan Crowley.

2026 EAST CORK JUNIOR AHC FINAL  On the Bank Hoilday Monday, August 3rd as we trooped out from the Castlelyons GAA grounds after losing to Dungourney in the first round of the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship we probably didn’t think we’d be in the Final three months later. We lost that game by 2 14 to 0 15, we never really got going and after a great Div 1 JHL campaign this year the result was very disappointing. That was the first of our three Round Robin games and Richie and his selectors put the team through some more serious training in the subsequent days. We went to Glenville and had a very good win over Sars. In Round 3 we met Carrigtwohill in what was a ‘winner take all’ game -again in Glenville. That night the team played really well and we won by 1 19  to 1 9 and as other results came in we were into the semi final. That game was v Carrignavar and it turned out to be an epic extra time encounter. In our 4 games to date we have scored 4 77 and conceded  3  62

COLMANS  DOUBLE WIN. St Colmans’ opened their Dean Ryan Cup Colleges competition in Pairc na Bride on Monday. Playing Castletroy from Limerick. Early in the 2nd half Colmans looked on course for an easy win when leading  by14 points. The Castletroy school which featured thirteen players from the Monaleen Club in their side played a great last quarter and brought  the margin down to five. St Colmans finished well to win by 1 20 to 0 17.  Jack Fitzgerald, Cody Scanlan and Finn Lynch from Bride Rovers all played their part. Then on Monday last in Knocklong had a two point win in the Harty Cup, again over Castletroy.  Dinny Fitzgerald, Cathal Barry, Cody Scanlon and Michael Walsh all helped in the 0 22 to 2 14 win in what was a poorish game overall- but a win is a win!

FITZY’S 50TH.   Every conceivable fancy dress costume from Fr, Ted’s Mrs, Doyle, Dracula, Superman,  Cowboys, pirates, zombies, Arab sheiks, tomb raiders and a myriad of other spectacular and outrageous outfits were to be seen in Barry’s Bar Rathcormac on last Saturday night. The occasion was the huge 50th birthday for Alan Fitzgerald which was a fantastic party. Everyone and anyone was there but ‘twas hard to know who most of the disguised guests were!  Alan has been an integral part of the Bride Rovers Club for many, many years. We wish him all the very best for the next 50 years.
GREEN, WHITE and GOLD.  It’s mighty to see the posters, signs, flags and buntings in our beloved Green, White and Gold all around the parish. This time last year it was County Final Fever as well as East Cork Delight that swept across Bartlemy, Rathcormac and Kildinan. This year has seen some fantastic displays from all our teams in every Grade but to reach the East Cork Final again is brilliant. No doubt Killeagh are a very strong side with 12 of the players who won the Title in 2024.  East Cork Championships are never easy to win. Back in the 1960’s and 70’s nearly every Club in East Cork was Junior A or Junior B and winning the Cup was a great achievement. It’s still the same today so we can expect a mighty contest in Cloyne on Sunday week. Cloyne requested to host this year’s Final to mark the 5oth anniversary of their ‘Double double’ in 1976. That year Cloyne won the A Grade Hurling and Football Championships as well as the A Grade Hurling and Football Leagues -a feat never achieved by any Club. The official launch for the 2026 East Cork Oil Junior A Grade Hurling Final was held in Cloyne o  Monday night last. Keep putting up the flags, buntings and colours.  We are very proud of Eddy Cashman and his team mates and wish them the very best on the day.
