Youghal booked their place in the East Cork Oil Junior B Hurling Championship decider with a comprehensive win over Midleton on Monday night in Aghavine.
They’ll face Castlelyons in the decider, after they defeated rivals Bride Rovers in the other semi-final earlier in the month.
It was a cagey for much of the opening half, Youghal finding separation with their two green flags. At 13 minutes it was 0-3 apiece, but Finn Coleman launched in a long ball that broke kindly for Brett Moloney, who caught it and fired to the net after 14 minutes.
By the 18th minute, Youghal had broken through for their second major, James O’Mahony with a superb driving run before rocketing to the top corner to leave Youghal 2-4 to 0-3 clear.
Midleton reduced arrears by one before the break, Youghal leading 2-6 to 0-6, but they would need a green flag to turn it around. Mark O’Keeffe had kept them in touch with frees, but Youghal were providing the greater threat.
In the second period, Youghal made their control count as Moloney and Dion O’Donoghue helped them to push further clear, and they finished 13-point winners.
