CO-OP SUPERSTORES PSHC SEMI-FINAL
MIDLETON 1-18 GLEN ROVERS 2-21
Our senior hurlers reached the end of their championship road for 2026 on Sunday last when they lost at the semi-final stage of the championship to Glen Rovers in Pairc Uí Chaoimh.
We got off to the worst possible start when we lost Tadhg O’Leary Hayes to a leg injury inside the opening two minutes. Glen Rovers got on top early on and by the 21st minute mark it was the men from Blackpool who led by 0-8 to 0-2.
Three points from Cormac Walsh from wing-back and further efforts from Conor Lehane, Ross O’Regan and Paul Connaughton saw us come right back into the game and by the half-time whistle we trailed by just a single point, 0-10 to 0-9, having played against the breeze in the first-half.
We levelled early in the second period before the Glen struck for their first goal of the game on 33 minutes to put them three in front, which soon became four before Paul Connaughton struck for our only goal of the game on 35 minutes to make it a one point game once more.
Over the next 12 minutes the Glen outscored us by 0-5 to 0-1 to see them lead by five with 13 minutes to play.
Back we came again and with ten to play the margin was down to two, 1-16 to 1-14, but a second Glen Rovers goal on 54 minutes saw the Northsiders go into a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. Things didn’t get any better in injury time as we were reduced to 14 with the sending off of Tommy O’Connell.
Thanks to Padraig O’Shea, his management and backroom team and the players for a huge effort all year.

On Jamesy Kellehers famed sod the ash did clash,
Where Midleton met the Rockies pride,
Against the green and gold arrayed,
They turned the fierce and frantic tide.
Lawton's tribe broke past the victory line,
Their swagger gaining stroke by stroke,
Till the final whistle pierced the din,
And raucous cheers to timber broke.
Then homeward down the narrow road,
A roaring trail of black and white,
Past ancient ditches, lime and stone,
Where ghosts of brave men walked the night.
For Clonmult sleeps not far behind,
Where blood was spent in bitter straw,
A heavy debt the decades bore,
Beneath the shadow of armed forced law.
No rifles drawn, no farmhouse flames,
Yet spirit answered from the grave,
Young shoulders lifting up the crown,
In tribute to the lives they gave.
Past whiskey maltings sweet and cheering Broderick and Main streets,
The cup rides high above the throng,
Midleton home, the debt reclaimed,
Where memory lives in shout and song.

Fé13
The Fé13 lads brought their football season to a close last week, with the group competing in two finals to round off a busy year.
First up, on Wednesday was a long trip to Inniscarra for the Group 4A Football Shield Final against Inniscarra with an early throw in of 6pm. Some traffic issues in Cork cased delays on the way which meant that the throw in had to be delayed by 15 minutes. The disruptions to the preparations was evident in the fist half with the opposition on top for long periods. The lads regrouped at half time and really put it up to Inniscarra in the second half outscoring their opponents 1-03 to 1-01. However. try as they did the boys just couldn't find the scores that they required and Inniscarra went on to win on a final score of Inniscarra 3-04 to Midleton 1-03. Hard luck to the Midleton lads on the night but they can be proud of their performance and attitude. Special word of that to the parents and coaches who travelled for the early throw in.
Midleton Scorers: Tiernan Carroll 1-02, Luca Oosthuizen 0-01. The panel for the final was: Cian Ryan Sheehan, Harry Corcoran, Kian Davis, Karl Fitzgerald, Dylan Daly, Sean Fitzgerald, Charlie Riordan, Dylan Cashman, Olan Connolly, Luca Oosthuizen (captain), John Murphy, Tiernan Carroll, Tadhg Lane, Conall Cody, Adam Hennessy, Finn Harrington, Lochlann Thomas, Daithi Thomas, Shay O'Sullivan.
On Saturday, it was another long trip for the Fé13 lads, this time heading west to Macroom to take on Clonakilty in the Group 1B Football Shield Final. The game turned out to be a hugely entertaining contest, with both teams playing some excellent attacking football and goals flowing at both ends of the pitch. There was very little to separate the sides throughout the opening half, with both Midleton and Clonakilty finding the net four times and just the minimum between them at the half-time whistle. The second half continued in much the same fashion, with both teams trading scores in a thrilling end-to-end contest. Neither side was able to establish a decisive advantage and the game remained in the balance right to the closing stages. Unfortunately, it was Clonakilty who managed to find the final score of the game and held on to claim the Shield on a final scoreline of Clonakilty 8-04, Midleton 7-04. Hard luck to the lads, who played some excellent football throughout and were very unfortunate to come out on the losing side of such a close and entertaining final.
Midleton scorers: Tiernan Carroll 2-02, James Daly O'Regan 2-00, Ben Walsh 1-00, Conor Cantwell 1-01,Matthew Greene 1-00, Oran Byrne 0-01. The panel for the final was: Dylan Cashman, Sean Fitzgerald, James Daly O'Regan, Conall Cody (captain), Kian Davis, Odhran Murphy, Kalvin O'Brien, Darragh Grant, Olan Connolly, Conor Cantwell, Ben Walsh, Oran Byrne, Matthew Greene, John Murphy, Tiernan Carroll, Cian Ryan Sheehan, Finn Harrington, Charlie Riordan, Luca Oosthuizen, Lochlann Thomas, Tadhg Lane.
