Fé15 P1 League semi final vs Duhallow
Duhallow 0-18 Midleton 0-17

Freemount was the venue last Friday evening for the Fé15 Hurling league semi-final against Divisional side Duhallow. The home team won the toss and opted to play with the strong breeze. Although we were slow to find our rhythm in the 1st half, 11 points to 3 down after 20 mins, our lads finished the half the strongest trailing by 6 at the short whistle, 0-14 to 0-08. We started much the brighter in the 2nd half scoring the first 5 points and narrowing the deficit to the mere minimum with 40 mins played, 0-14 to 0-13. That unfortunately was the closest we came as we shared scores up to the final whistle. Great team performance throughout with our backs defending valiantly and midfield and forwards working hard for each other and taking some lovely scores. Thanks to Duhallow for a very good competitive, physical and sporting game that could of gone either way in the end, and for their much appreciated hospitality afterwards of refreshments, sandwiches and cakes for players, mentors and parents before our long journey home.

Panel & Scorers:

Fé13

The Fé13 lads had a busy weekend of hurling, competing in two finals over the course of two days.

First up, on Friday evening under the lights on the 3G pitch in Park South, was the Group 4B Hurling Final against Inniscarra. Having lost narrowly to the same opposition earlier in the summer, the lads were determined to reverse that result when it mattered most. That determination was evident from the throw-in, with Midleton making a strong start and gradually building a well-deserved lead through some excellent hurling and hard work across the field. As expected, Inniscarra responded strongly and mounted a spirited fightback in the second half, putting the Midleton defence under sustained pressure. However, the lads showed great composure and determination to weather the challenge, maintain their advantage and see out the game to secure a deserved victory and the Group 4B Cup on a final score of Midleton 5-07 Inniscarra 2-06. Well done lads.

Midleton Scorers: Richard Linehan 3-00, Conall Cody 1-02, Tiernan Carroll 0-04 (0-01f), John Murphy 1-00, Dylan Cashman 0-01. The panel for the final was: Cia Ryan Sheehan, Harry Corcoran, Shay O'Sullivan, Dylan Daly, Karl Fitzgerald, Sean Fitzgerald, Charlie Riordan, Dylan Cashman, Conall Cody, Luca Oosthuizen, John Murphy, Tiernan Carroll, Richard Linehan, Finn Harrington (captain), Tadhg Lane, Lochlann Thomas, Daithi Thomas, Ronan Thomas, Brian O'Connor.

Then on Saturday, it was off to Killeagh for the Group 1B Hurling Final against Carrigtwohill. The previous meeting between the sides back in August had resulted in a narrow victory for Carrigtwohill, so another close and competitive encounter was expected. However, it was Carrigtwohill who settled quickest and, playing with the advantage of a strong breeze, made the most of the conditions to race into a commanding lead during the first half. Midleton battled hard but found scores difficult to come by and went into the break with a significant deficit to overcome. To their credit, the Midleton lads responded with a much-improved performance in the second half. With greater intensity and determination, they took the game to Carrigtwohill and continued to battle right to the final whistle. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, they were unable to find the scores needed to close the gap, with Carrigtwohill holding on to take the shield on a final scoreline of Midleton 2-08, Carrigtwohill 5-05. Hard luck to the lads, who can nevertheless take great credit from reaching the final and for the determination they showed, particularly in their second-half response.

Midleton scorers: Ben Walsh 0-07f, Tiernan Carroll 1-00, James Daly O'Regan 1-00, Oran Byrne 0-01. The panel for the final was: Cian Ryan Sheehan, Kian Davis (captain), Kalvin O'Brien, Karl Fitzgerald, Dylan Cashman, James Daly O'Regan, Conall Cody, Odhran Murphy, Darragh Grant, Conor Cantwell, Ben Walshl, Matthew Greene, Tiernan Carroll, John Murphy, Oran Byrne, Shay O'Sullivan, Finn Harrington, Sean Fitzgerald, Charlie Riordan, Harry Corcoran, Richard Linehan, Luca Oosthuizen, Lochlann Thomas, Dylan Daly, Brian Murphy, Tadhg Lane, Daithi Thomas.

Fé18 Hurling Championship County Final

Midleton 2-17 Blackrock 1-20

U14’s:

Our U14P1 team played their last match in the group on Sunday 27th Sept in Park South. In a very tough group the girls have battled hard in all of their matches and were delighted to come away with the win against a strong Eire Og side today. The girls were captained by Abi.

Under 15’s:

Well done to all the girls who Played against Glen Rovers in an U15 game on Thursday 24th Sept. In good conditions the game was evenly contested with some lovely scores on show. Well done to Saoirse who captained the team on the evening. Thanks to the girls who played up. Thanks also to Glen Rovers for travelling and Ciara for reffing.

Ladies Football

U16 County Semi-Final

Hard luck to our U16 ladies, who faced a very strong Newmarket side last Saturday. Playing against a strong wind in the first half, Newmarket made the most of the conditions, getting on the scoreboard early in the game. At half-time, Midleton regrouped, introduced some fresh legs and began to find their rhythm. The girls battled hard and put in a much-improved performance in the second half, but unfortunately, there was too much ground to make up.

Once again, the girls gave it their all, and their effort, commitment and determination could not be faulted. There is plenty to be proud of in their performance, and they can hold their heads high. Well done to all the players and management for their continued hard work and dedication.

Junior Championship

Our Junior Ladies Football team have qualified for a County Semi Final against Glanmire which will take place on Thursday Oct 8th in Glanmire. Time tbc. Best of luck to all players and their management.
