CO-OP Superstores Hurling Championship Q-Final
Well done to our Intermediate hurlers who produced a great team performance to see off Youghal in Dungourney on Friday night by 4-15 to 2-12. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the first half we needed to start fast and we did just that with 2-3 on the board inside 5 minutes, Kian Farmer and Cathal Beausang with the goals. Youghal responded with a couple of pointed frees before we got a third goal through Luke O’Farrell after 10 minutes. We led 3-8 to 0-6 after 21 minutes and a long ball from Daragh Egan was won and finished to the net by Luke for his second goal of the evening. The effort levels never dropped and this helped us reach half time with a 4-11 to 0-8 lead.
Despite the big gap at half time, Youghal were turning to play with the strong wind so a professional performance was needed in order to see out the game. After a period of sustained pressure Youghal got their first goal from a penalty after 42 minutes but any threats of a comeback were snuffed out as we responded well and managed to contain them to 1-2 for the rest of the game, their second goal coming from a free with the game in injury time. This result puts us into the semi final in two weeks time where we will face Bandon (time and venue TBC).

The event was a huge success, with 17 local schools attending and approximately 200 young female players being given the opportunity to represent their school and enjoy a day of Gaelic Games.
Many thanks to Paul Griffin, who was a great help with the pitch set-up, as well as to the caretakers for ensuring everything was locked up and secured once we had finished.

Ladies Football
Our u13s got off to a shaky start this morning in the quarter final of the East Cork Championship against a strong Rockbán side. We were down by 2 goals very early on and struggled to score, but with 2 minutes to half time the girls managed to pull back not 1 but 2 goals.
It was a game of 2 halves and the girls gave it their all in the 2nd half to come away with the win. Well done girls great determination and attitude

U16 Championship
Best of luck to our U16 girls and their management this Saturday. Please come along and show your support.

Intermediate Championship Semi- Final
Midleton vs. Bride RoversCompetition: Cork LGFA Senior Championship Semi-FinalDate:
September 20, 2026
Full-Time Score (AET): Bride Rovers 5-12 | Midleton 3-17
In an absolute classic that required extra time, Bride Rovers narrowly edged out Midleton by a single point in a high-scoring, high-stakes and somewhat controversial encounter. While Midleton showcased incredible athleticism and dominance in possession during spells, clinical efficiency proved to be the ultimate divider. Bride Rovers' ability to punish errors and convert their chances masked Midleton’s otherwise formidable performance.
1. Shooting & Efficiency (The Deciding Factor)Midleton Wides: 14 Total (10 in the 1st Half, 4 in the 2nd Half)
2. Bride Rovers Wides: 5 (1st Half)
The primary talking points of the match lies in the first-half shooting accuracy. Midleton dominated early possession but squandered significant opportunities, racking up 10 first-half wides—8 of which were highly scoreable. While the team tightened up drastically in the second half (dropping to 4 wides), the early misses proved catastrophic in a one-point game. Bride Rovers exhibited far superior efficiency, recycling the ball patiently to find higher-percentage scoring zones.
Midleton held their own on their restarts but had to fight tooth and nail for every ball. The Bride Rovers goalkeeper put on an excellent display, varying their restarts and testing the Midleton press constantly, making clean possession difficult to secure.
1st half Possession: Midleton 55%–60% | Bride Rovers 40%–45%
2nd Half Possession: Midleton 50% | Bride Rovers 50%
Midleton controlled the tempo early on but failed to reflect their 1st-half territorial dominance on the scoreboard due to early target inaccuracies. The second half leveled out into a true 50/50 dogfight as Bride Rovers increased their physical pressure. Midleton turned the ball over 12 times in normal time (Bride Rovers were slightly higher). However Midleton registered 12 dropped balls while in possession. Bride Rovers' relentless pressure throughout the game forced uncharacteristic handling errors, often stalling promising Midleton transitions. With 14 frees against the Magpies, a few critical frees allowed Bride Rovers to keep their scoreboard ticking over during periods when Midleton held the spatial advantage. However having been 7 points down at one point the teak, tough resilience of the girls from Midleton manifested yet again as it has all season and saw them draw level on 60 minutes. Then after yet another brilliant attacking effort we were awarded a penalty and Cork star Ava Mc duly slotted the ball into the corner à la Mo Salah to incredibly leave midleton 3 points up on the 4th minute of extra time. Surely a place in the final was beckoning. A 45 yard free from the kick out and then a resultant kick was parried by our keeper and fell to the feet of an in rushing Rovers player who blasted to the net to draw level.
Extra time beckoned and again the more experienced home side quickly rushed into a 3 points lead but as always the magpies girls’ never say die attitude brought them level time and again. However as the game headed to the final whistle Rovers hit what proved to be the winner.
Despite the heartbreaking result, several standout individual shifts set an elite standard:
Orla Farmer, S. Beausang, & L. Wallace: The sheer volume of ground covered by this trio was immense. Their work rate in transition, tracking back, and driving forward was highly impressive.Molly B.: Handled a highly specific, tactical role to perfection. She proved to be exactly the right person for a tough, disciplined job on the pitch. However it has to be said that every player including defence players Megan, Claudia, Caoilinn, Viv, Sorcha and Kate and subs Amy, Emma and Ciara all played their part on the day.
Scoring Breakdown
Midleton's 3-17 was compiled through a mix of excellent open-play scores and set pieces. Goals came courtesy of clinical finishing from Orlagh Farmer, a rasper from Sadhbh and the penalty from Ava Mc while Sadhbh, Lucy Wallace and Lucy Cashman, Orlagh and Rachel added vital points throughout the game. Claudia in particular more than held her own against her multiple all Ireland medal winning opponent.
So the young talented Midleton intermediate ladies footballers’ season comes to an end but in reality, this is just the beginning. Up from the junior ranks only last year, they are growing and growing in strength and skill and the future is incredibly bright and exciting for this bunch of players. The management team of Padraig, Paddy, Permy, Muiris and Bok Ber, Jackie, Pat, Colin and Tony will all look ahead with excitement and expectation next year. It’s onto the junior championship now where their attentions turn and we wish those girls all the best in this competition. They too played their part with the intermediate players all year through training with and supporting the girls from the dugout! Player of the match O. Farmer
Camogie
Captained by Mia under lights in Ballincollig on Tuesday 22nd Sept we played our second match in the U14B championship. A mix of U12s, 13s & 14s made up the team that took on our opponents. It took the girls 10 minutes or so to settle.
However once they got to grips with the game the girls began to dominate all over the pitch up to the half time whistle, with the midfield and half back line putting in a great shift.
We continued strong in the second half and came away with the win! We have now topped the table in our group and await other scores to see who we’ll play in the next round.
Thanks to ref Ciara Daly and to Ballincollig for a great game.
