All roads lead to Carrignavar on Saturday evening as Glenville’s Junior B footballers face Castlelyons for a place in the East Cork Championship final.

Glenville secured their semi-final place with an excellent 0-17 to 1-8 victory over Ballinacurra in the concluding group game. With their championship prospects on the line, the players delivered an assured and determined performance when it mattered most.

That victory was fitting recognition of the progress made by this young team over the course of the campaign. After a difficult opening game, the players responded impressively and continued to improve with each outing. The group has demonstrated tremendous resilience, character and commitment to earn its place among the final four teams in the competition.

A difficult challenge awaits against Castlelyons, but Glenville will enter the semi-final with confidence following the quality of their most recent performance. The players have shown that they are capable of producing excellent football and competing strongly when the pressure is greatest.

Reaching an East Cork final would be a tremendous achievement for the panel and management team and would provide another major boost for the club during an eventful season.

We wish all the players and management the very best of luck. We encourage as many Glenville supporters as possible to travel to Carrignavar, wear the black and amber and get behind the team.

U12 PLATE FINAL

Our U12 footballers face St Michael’s in the Rebel Óg East Group 2 Plate Final in Mayfield on Saturday morning.

Reaching the final is an excellent achievement for this young group and reflects the effort and progress shown by the players throughout the season.

A final is a special occasion for every young player, and we hope the team enjoys the experience of representing Glenville. Best of luck to the entire panel and their mentors.

Throw-in is at 10am, and all support in Mayfield would be greatly appreciated. 

Carrigtwohill 2 v Glenville 2

Our second U12 football team will also contest a final over the coming weekend when they face Carrigtwohill’s second team in the Rebel Óg East Group 6 Shield decider.

The game takes place in Mayfield on Sunday morning, with throw-in at 11.30am.

The players have worked hard throughout the season to earn their opportunity to compete in the final. We congratulate the entire group and their mentors on reaching the decider and wish them the very best of luck.

We hope the young players enjoy the occasion and encourage Glenville supporters to come along and get behind the team.

THE GREAT GLENVILLE RUN RETURNS

The Great Glenville Run will return on Sunday, November 22nd, bringing runners and supporters back to Glenville for one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the local sporting calendar.

Jointly organised by Glenville GAA and Watergrasshill Athletic Club, the event is a four-mile road race through the beautiful surroundings of Glenville. The race will begin at 11.30am and is open to runners of all abilities.

Whether aiming for a personal best, returning to road racing or simply looking to take part in an enjoyable community event, everyone will be very welcome.

The race has received an Athletics Ireland permit, will be chip-timed and will take place over a course accurately measured using a Jones Counter. Individual and category prizes will also be presented.

Entry costs €17.50, with further information regarding registration and event arrangements to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Great Glenville Run has always received tremendous backing from the local community. We look forward to welcoming runners, volunteers and supporters to Glenville for another memorable occasion.

CONGRATULATIONS TO WATERGRASSHILL

Glenville GAA extends warm congratulations to  Watergrasshill following their thrilling extra-time victory over Ballinhassig in the Senior A Hurling Championship quarter-final.

The victory secured Watergrasshill’s place in the Senior A semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history, marking another proud and significant achievement for everyone associated with the club.

Well done to all the players and management team on a tremendous victory, and to the many volunteers and supporters whose dedication continues to contribute to the club’s success.

We wish Watergrasshill the very best of luck in the semi-final as they continue their championship journey.

U7 FOOTBALL AND HURLING

Our U7 players enjoyed a brilliant day of football and hurling at the Glen Resource Centre on Saturday.

There were tremendous displays of athleticism, camaraderie and teamwork throughout the day as the young players participated enthusiastically in both codes.

Most importantly, there was plenty of fun and enjoyment, with all the boys and girls getting involved and representing Glenville with great enthusiasm.

Days such as this provide the children with valuable opportunities to practise their skills, play alongside their friends and continue developing their enjoyment of Gaelic games.

Well done to every player who took part. A sincere thank-you also goes to the coaches for their continued work and encouragement and to all the parents and guardians for their support.

GLENVILLE GAA LOTTO

The numbers drawn in the latest Glenville GAA Lotto were 5, 6, 28 and 29. There was no winner of the €14,400 jackpot.

The four €20 lucky-dip winners were Dan Murphy, Karl Russ, Cian Dorgan, and Dominic and Delia Moynihan. Congratulations to each of this week’s winners.

The jackpot will now rise to €14,500 for the next draw, which takes place in Kades Kounty on Friday, September 25th.

Tickets cost €2 each or three for €5 and can be purchased from the usual local outlets and club sellers. Supporters can also enter online at www.smartlotto.ie/Glenville-gaa.

The weekly lotto provides vital funding for the continued running and development of Glenville GAA. Every ticket purchased makes an important contribution to the club and helps support our adult and juvenile teams.
