Our senior hurlers began their Premier Senior Hurling Championship campaign in fine style on Friday night last with an eight point win over St. Finbarrs in front of a big crowd on a lovely night for hurling in Pairc Ui Rinn.
We started well with Mikey Finn and Killian McDermott dominating midfield and Conor Lehane flawless from frees and Alex Quirke all over the place, including scoring a beauty of a point from the sideline to put us in the driving seat early on but the Barrs fought back to tie up the game at 0-6 apiece towards the end of the opening quarter.
William Buckley soon put the City men into the lead for the first time in the game before the Magpies hit five in a row with McDermott and Finn again chipping in along with another from Alex Quirke and one each from Ross O’Regan and Davy Cremin to put us 0-11 to 0-7 in front. The final four white flags of the opening period were shared to ensure that we held sway by four at the short whistle, 0-13 to 0-9 after playing with the breeze in the opening 30 minutes.
We got off to a strong start to the second-half with another from Killian McDermott and a beauty from Paul Connaughton. The Barrs struck back with three in a row but back came the Magpies with three in a row (two from play) from Conor Lehane to put us 0-18 to 0-11 in front with 20 minutes to play.
Two Barrs points were cancelled out by Conor Lehane and with our backline on top of its game and sniffing out any danger of Barrs’ goals we finished strongly to claim a deserved win on the opening night of the 2026 championship.
In the other game in our group, Bride Rovers defeated Newcestown by 1-20 to 0-14. Next up we take on Newcestown at 3pm on Saturday, August 22 in Pairc Ui Rinn. It will be the first game of a double header with St. Finbarrs taking on Bride Rovers from 5pm.

Co Op Superstores Intermediate Hurling Championship Midleton v Mallow 01/08/2026
Hard luck to intermediate hurlers who were narrowly beaten by a strong Mallow side 1-26 to 0-27 on Saturday evening. Playing with the wind in the first half we went behind following a fortunate goal for Mallow but responded well to lead 0-17 to 1-10 at half time. Mallow started the second half strongly and the second half was very close and we thought we had secured a draw but two late points from Mallow saw them emerge as the winners.

On Monday evening we travelled to Blarney to take on the hosts in our last group match in the P1 hurling championship. Results during the day meant that we knew if we win this fixture we would qualify for the county semi final. The rain and the fact there was a car boot sale on the pitch during the day made the conditions tricky for both sides. We started well getting a couple of scores clear but we were misfiring a bit and getting a lot of wides. We were preforming well through out but couldn’t get any serious cushion ahead due to our wide count and the tenacity of our opponents, who performed very well despite being knocked out due to the earlier result. The lads did stick at it and fought for every ball and eventually we got through on a score line of 0-13 to 10 points. Well done lads, great performance and win. The fact we had a wide spread of scorers and defended brilliantly when we had to were the stand out positives but there is definitely work to be done before our next game.
The semi final is down to be played on the 17th of August against Ballyhea/Milford at a venue to be confirmed with Ballincollig and Ballinora on the other side.

Camogie
Our U14 girls played their final game of the Summer League at home in Park South against Mallow on Saturday August 1st. Despite the heat and dry underfoot conditions - the girls played great in the first half & held their own until half time - unfortunately, the second half just did'nt go our way and we lost to a better team on the day. Just to commend the girls for battling to the end and giving it their all on such a warm day. We turn our heads now to the Championship which starts in the next few weeks - best of luck girls, we know ye will do us proud!
Ladies Football
Minior League v Erins Own 06/08/2026
Well done to all the girls on the win in Park South on Thursday evening. Great team effort. It was a close game with the lead being exchanged a few times. But the effort payed off and we played some great football. Final score 4-10 to 1-12. Also big thanks to the U16s who came - they are key to help to bolster our team and they are learning a lot which will stand to them going forward.
Please note No Dogs are allowed on our Club grounds and pitches. Dog fouling is a persistant problem on our playing fields and a huge safety issue for our Players.
