U9 Footballers Enjoy Excellent Outing Against Whitechurch

Glenville’s U9 footballers were in action against Whitechurch last Saturday morning, producing a very encouraging display in what was an enjoyable and sporting series of games.

The young players showed the great progress they have been making at training, with plenty of confident passing, strong tackling and excellent scores on display. Most importantly, the boys worked extremely well together, supported one another throughout and continued to give their best from the first whistle to the last.

At this age, the emphasis is firmly on enjoyment, participation and developing the basic skills of Gaelic football, and the Glenville players certainly demonstrated all three. Their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved were a credit to themselves, their coaches and their families.

It was particularly pleasing to see every player contributing and growing in confidence as the morning progressed. Experiences such as these are hugely important in the development of our younger players, and there is no doubt that this group has a very bright future ahead.

Well done to all the boys who represented Glenville so proudly. Thanks also to Whitechurch for the sporting games, and to the coaches, mentors and parents whose encouragement and continued support make these occasions possible.

There is another busy programme of football ahead for Glenville teams over the coming days, with a number of juvenile sides in league action both at home and away.

The U12 footballers begin the week’s fixtures on Thursday evening when they welcome Carrigtwohill to Glenville for a 6.30pm throw-in. Also on Thursday, the U13s host Bandon at Fouhy’s Pitch in the Rebel Óg Coiste Fé 13 4B Football League Phase 2, with the game getting under way at 7.30pm.

Saturday brings three further fixtures for the club. The U14s are due to travel to Castlemartyr to face Kiltha Óg in the Rebel Óg Coiste Fé 14 4B Football League Phase 2, with the throw-in time to be confirmed. A second U14 team will also be on the road, taking on Carrigtwohill at 4pm.

The weekend’s programme concludes on Saturday evening when Glenville’s U18 footballers welcome Mallow to Glenville for a 7pm throw-in in the Rebel Óg Coiste Fé 18 4 Football League Phase 2.

Glenville GAA Lotto

The numbers drawn in the latest Glenville GAA Lotto were 2, 5, 20 and 32.

There was no winner of the €13,400 jackpot, which means the jackpot will rise to an impressive €13,500 for the next draw.
