CONGRATULATIONS MINORS!
Rebel Óg Premier 2 Hurling League Final
Killeagh 5-10, Éire Óg 1-21
Our minor hurlers take top billing this week, with a hard-fought win over a resilient Éire Óg side in sunny Carrigtwohill on Wednesday evening last. Featuring three Under 15s in our starting line-up, we got off to a great start with a goal from Ben Geary on 9 minutes, finishing off a team move involving Cormac Deane and Alex Fogarty. Jack Farquhar soon added another, but Éire Óg stormed back into the game with six points in a row to level matters on 20 minutes – 2-03 to 0-09. However, Alex Fogarty’s first, and our third goal, gave us a 3-05 to 0-12 lead on David Butler’s half-time whistle. Alex added our fourth goal on 41 minutes, and Andrew Brenner’s goal within minutes gave us a comprehensive eight point lead at the three-quarter mark. However, Éire Óg refused to wilt, and slotted over a series of points and eventually raised their own green flag, but we held on to record victory. Focus turns to championship now, with our Premier 2 football campaign beginning on Wednesday 15th July when we welcome Kinsale to Páirc Uí Chinnéide for a 1900 hrs throw-in. It’s every second Wednesday of football and hurling then until the 19th August, with our remaining football fixtures away to St. Colum’s (Kelakil) and at home to Donoughmore, and hurling fixtures at home to Douglas, away to Shandrum, and at home to St. Finbarr’s. Here comes the summer!

ROCA SPORTS EAST CORK FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 2 FINAL Sunday July 5th in Youghal
St. Catherine’s 3-8, Glenbower Rovers 2-09
Our promoted football team let slip a chance of an opening trophy of 2026 on Sunday evening last when St. Catherine’s prevailed at the end of an entertaining game of football. We led at various stages in both halves, thanks mainly to Sean Long’s first half goal and five points, two points – one from each foot in each half – from Keane Budds, and Robbie Treacy’s goal sa dara leath, but ultimately the men in purple and gold prevailed, with Fionn O’Connell accepting the cup on behalf of his team ag deireadh an chluiche. It’s Division 1 football for 2027 thankfully, and hopefully we can put in three good performances in our Junior B championship games to put us in the frame for possible promotion back to Junior A championship for 2027 also. Ar aghaidh linn go dtí an chéad chluiche versus Glenville in Lisgoold on Sunday July 26th at 1130 hrs. Bígí ann!

GOLF CLASSIC NO. 30 A ROARING SUCCESS!
And just like that, it’s done and dusted for another year. If the Ryder Cup 2027 might enter folklore as the JP McManus Invitational, then surely the Killeagh GAA Golf Classic is the Ray Rochford version, with non-refusable invites issued at the conclusion of one year for the following year’s event by the great man himself! Glorious weather (apart from the river-borne insects upsetting some golfers!) on a mature and high-class golf course, followed by gourmet cuisine in the clubhouse meant that the golfers had only themselves to blame if the scorecards were not as expected. Suffice to say that it was once again a roaring success, thanks to Ray and everyone else who helped out in any way. Here’s to July 2027! Seo iad na torthaí agus scéal na seachtaine!

A huge thanks goes out to anyone who played in any role in the success of the Killeagh GAA Golf Classic for 2026.
We would not get our club’s biggest fundraiser this year off the ground without our major sponsors on board, namely Premier Service Station, Midleton (proprietor JJ Fennelly), Fogarty Bros. Car Sales Killeagh, Mark Landers Wealth Financial Services, Helio Gas Detection, Glenbower Veterinary Ltd., Abbeylands Nursing Home, Kildorrery & Rochestown Park Hotel! We would like to place on record our thanks & gratitude towards all of the above and to those who were Tee-Box & Classic sponsors!
We look forward to seeing you all at our 31st Annual Classic at West Waterford G.C from Wednesday July 7th – Saturday July 10th 2027! Please put these dates into your diary!
