Facilities Report

Over the past number of months, Clonmult Memorial Park has had a serious clean up and we’re not just talking about a fresh lick of paint. We’ve added a brand new electronic scoreboard, so there’s now absolutely no hiding from the scoreline on match day (for better or worse!) along with the revamping of the Press box.

A robotic mower has also joined the team , it doesn’t complain, never takes a day off, and might just be our most consistent performer yet outside of Denis.

Around the pitch , new perimeter fencing has been completed replacing the famous white concrete poles which have stood the test of time.

Meanwhile, the gym has had a major upgrade with a brand new roof meaning no more “extra ventilation” during workouts when it rains.

These improvements have given the club a massive lift and are something we can all be proud of. That said, they didn’t come cheap , the costs have been significant so your continued support for our fundraisers is more important than ever.

We’re not done yet either… there will be another exciting development on the way soon, so watch this space.

A huge thank you to the Facilities Committee, the various contractors (too many to mention), the CES & SECAD lads and the club members who chipped in along the way. It just shows what can be achieved when everyone works together.

Now it’s up to all of us to respect the facilities, look after them, and take pride in what we’ve built,  Clonmult Memorial Park is looking better than ever… let’s keep it that way!

Junior Football

Midleton Junior 3 Football vs Glenville

Midleton made the journey to Glenville recently for their seventh game in the Junior 3 Football League. It was particularly encouraging to see such a strong panel of players travel for a midweek fixture, especially given the “remote location”. Midleton started the game with great intensity and purpose, setting the tone early on. The defensive unit was outstanding in the opening half, with Sean Corcoran, Alan Power, and Barry Fitzgerald delivering a commanding performance. Their organisation, physicality, and reading of the game ensured Glenville were restricted to very few clear chances.

Further up the field, Adam Meade and Colin Dowling worked tirelessly to link defence and attack, creating numerous scoring opportunities through intelligent movement and precise distribution. This provided a strong platform for the forward line to flourish. The forwards capitalised impressively on this supply of ball. Mark Daly, Adrian O’Donovan and Cian Lambe were particularly effective, taking their scores well and keeping constant pressure on the Glenville defence. The team’s sharp finishing and attacking intent resulted in what was arguably Midleton’s best first-half display of the season.

Key highlights from the opening period included the high volume of shots registered on the Glenville goal and the discipline shown by the backline when dealing with Glenville attacks. At the break, Midleton held a commanding lead:

Half-Time Score:
Glenville 0-03 – Midleton 3-12

The momentum built in the first half carried strongly into the second, with Midleton maintaining their intensity and control throughout. Eoghan Collin proved dependable in goals, while Sean Cronin and Brian O’Sullivan continued the defensive dominance, limiting Glenville’s scoring opportunities. At midfield, Colin Sunderland and Darragh Codd took control of proceedings, winning possession and driving Midleton forward with authority. Their influence ensured the visitors remained firmly on top. In attack, Jack Fitzgerald, Eamon Horgan, Ben O’Neill, and Kieran Denihan kept the scoreboard ticking over with a steady stream of scores, highlighting the depth and versatility within the squad.

Midleton’s performance remained consistent and composed to the final whistle, rounding off an excellent team display built on strong defending, midfield control, and clinical finishing.

Final Score:
Glenville 0-11 – Midleton 6-16

Special mention on the night goes to Cian Lambe for an outstanding contribution of three goals, as well as Eamon Horgan, whose outrageous point in the first half was one of the standout moments of the match.

Midleton Junior 3 Football vs Glenbower Rovers

Glenbower Rovers were unable to field a team, resulting in the points being awarded to Midleton.

On the evening, the following players were prepared to line out but instead took part in a football training session: Eoghan Collins, Kieran Collins, Brian O’Sullivan, Barry Fitzgerald, Colin Sunderland, Adam Meade, Sean Corcoran, Neil Fitzgerald, Colin Dowling, Odhran Dennigan, Kieran Denihan, Ben O’Neill, Liam McSweeney, Eamon Horgan & Adrain O’Donovan.

Cork Vs Derry – All-Ireland Minor football Semi-final

Riain McCormack once again represented Midleton & Cork with distinction in last Saturday’s semi-final in Parnell Park, Dublin. There was strong Cork support in attendance, adding to the occasion.

Riain, who has been in outstanding form throughout the year with the Cork minor team, delivered another superb performance and was surely pushing for Man of the Match. While some players took time to settle into the game, Riain was sharp and influential from the very first whistle, setting the tone with his work rate, skill, and composure.

As the game progressed, Cork grew into it, and in the second half they took full control, proving far too strong for Derry and fully deserving of their victory.

Final Score: Cork 2-19 – Derry 2-06

Next up Cork V Tyrone All Ireland Minor final Sunday July 5th at Cedral St Conleth’s Newbridge (2pm).

Fé16

Back at games again after the Junior Cert for the lads this week as we headed to Ballincollig on Monday evening for our last P1 league game. On a glorious evening for hurling on a lovely pitch the two teams served up an exciting, high quality encounter. It was looking ominous at the beginning with the hosts moving the ball well and getting scores easier. Our lads while not playing at their peak were sticking in there. Two first half goals kept us level at half time 2-7 to 13 pts. Once again the lads upped the performance a couple of levels in the second period. A lot more direct ball, winning ball in the air and a lot more concentrated effort all around meant the lads ended up with a 3-15 to 1-20 victory. Well done lads.

A lot of work to be done by the time we meet the same opponents in July for championship. This means we will require big numbers at training over the next few weeks.

Camogie

U6’s and U7’s:

Huge congratulations to our U6’s and U7’s who came together on Saturday 20th June in Blackrock for their first ever blitz. The girls played brilliantly and great to see the progress they have made. They should be so proud of themselves.

Under 15’s:

Our U15s lined out in the U16B2 League Final on a sunny Saturday morning, 20th June, against Eiré Óg in Castle Road. After suffering hard luck in previous finals, this group of girls came in determined and fired up to get over the  .
Both teams battled hard in a tightly contested first half, with Midleton unlucky not to find the net on a few occasions thanks to some excellent goalkeeping. Midleton showed incredible, determination and teamwork in the second half and pulled away to secure a brilliant victory.
Final Score: Midleton 3-12 | Eiré Óg 0-07
A huge thank you to all our supporters who came out to cheer the girls on, and well done to captains Lauren and Nessa for leading the team on the day.
A deserved win for a fantastic group of players.
