RED FM COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE 14/06/2026

MIDLETON 3-23 DOUGLAS 0-12

Our senior hurlers made it eight wins from eight games in the County Hurling League Division 1 on Sunday morning at a sunny Douglas with a big win over the home side.

The visitors got off to a fast start with early white flags from Davy Cremin, Conor Morley and Conor Lehane. Douglas fired back to level but then five unanswered points from the Magpies saw us lead by 0-8 to 0-3 before Conor Lehane struck for the game’s opening goal on 20 minutes. Goal number two arrived just two minutes later when Lehane turned from scorer to provider as he set up Peter Barrett for a green flag to see Midleton lead by 2-10 to 0-5 after 22 minutes and by the short whistle it was an eight point advantage for the Magpies as we led by 2-12 to 0-10.

It was more of the same in the second-half as we opened the final period with 1-9 without reply with Conor Lehane adding his second goal and three points in that streak along with points from Mikey Finn, Peter Barrett, Sean O’Meara, Cormac Beausang, Conor Morley and Davy Cremin. Douglas hit back with two points but it was too little too late as the Magpies finished the game out well with six subs off the bench helping the effort.

This means that we now just have one league game remaining (in the regular section) against Sarsfields in Clonmult Memorial Park on Thursday, June 25 at 7.30pm. After results at the weekend it was confirmed that we will also meet Sarsfields in the league final, which will be played in early July.

Midleton: Conor Lehane 2-6 (3 65s, 2f); Peter Barrett 1-2; Cormac Beausang, Mikey Finn, and Davy Cremin 0-3 each; Conor Morley and Sean O’Meara 0-2 each; Alex Quirke and Darragh Egan 0-1 each.

MIDLETON: Bríon Saunderson; Thomas Dunlea, Sean O’Sullivan, Seadnaidh Smyth; Aaaron Mulcahy, Ciarmhac Smyth, Evan McGrath; Mikey Finn, Cormac Beausang; Sean O’Meara, Alex Quirke, Davy Cremin; Conor Morley, Conor Lehane, Peter Barrett. Nótaí Gaeilge

Dia dhaoibh a chairde, tá súil againn go bhfuil sibh ag baint sult as an aimsir iontach seo atá againn faoi láthair.

Thar an deireadh seachtain bhí bua tábhachtach ag ár imreoirí sinsir iomáine i gcoinne Dúglas i gcomórtas sraithe. An tseachtain seo chaite d'imir ár peileadóirí Junior A Áth Fhada sa cluiche deireanach sraithe a bhí acu, chomhscór a bhí ann sa deireadh.

Bhí bua stairiúil ag peileadóirí Corcaigh in aghaidh Dún na nGall ar an Satharn, tá siad díreacht tríd chuig babhta ceathrú ceannais na hÉirinn. Beidh an foireann iomáine Corcaigh ag imirt ar an Domhnach seo i gcoinne Úbh Fháille, ba mhaith linn dea ghuí a roinnt le Tommy.

Sin a bhfuil a chairde, slán libh.
