Glenville U11s Capture Brian Cronin Tournament Shield in Dromtariffe
Final: Glenville 4-10 Ballydesmond 1-06
Glenville U11s produced a superb team performance to claim the Shield title at the Brian Cronin Tournament, held at the fantastic facilities of Dromtariffe GAA.
Played in searing heat, the exceptionally well-run competition provided a great test for all involved, and the Glenville boys rose to the challenge in style. The 13 players who travelled on the day gave everything they had, displaying tremendous skill, determination and teamwork throughout.
A tough opening encounter against Clyda Rovers saw Glenville emerge victorious thanks to a very strong second-half display. Another impressive finish against BK Plunketts secured a second win, before the lads again found another gear to overcome hosts Dromtariffe after trailing at half-time.
A further victory over St Peter's booked Glenville's place in the final against a Ballydesmond side who, like Glenville, had come through the group stages unbeaten.
Following a memorable parade behind the pipe band and the playing of the National Anthem, the final got underway. Glenville held a narrow advantage at the break, but another power-packed second-half performance saw the boys pull away to record an impressive 4-10 to 1-06 victory and lift the Shield.
The club is immensely proud of every player who represented Glenville across the two weekends of competition. Over 20 children pulled on the Glenville jersey during the tournament, a reflection of the tremendous commitment, enthusiasm and strength of this talented group. Their attitude, effort and sportsmanship did both themselves and the club proud.
A huge thank you to Dromtariffe GAA for hosting such a fantastic tournament and to all the volunteers who ensured the competition ran so smoothly. Thanks also to the referees, whose time and dedication allowed the games to be played in such a positive spirit throughout the two weekends. Finally, thank you to the mentors, parents and supporters who continue to encourage and support these young players every step of the way.
With talent, numbers and spirit like this, there are certainly plenty more good days ahead for this Glenville group.

Glenville U6s Enjoy Special St John’s Occasion
Glenville's U6 footballers took part in three enjoyable matches against Bride Rovers as part of the St John's celebrations, with the club's youngest players giving a wonderful account of themselves throughout the morning.
There was no shortage of skill, enthusiasm and hard work on display as the boys embraced the occasion and represented Glenville with great pride. For some of the players, it marked their first opportunity to wear the Glenville jersey in a match setting, making it an especially memorable day for them and their families. They rose to the occasion brilliantly, while their more experienced teammates led by example through their energy, teamwork and encouragement.
The focus at this age is firmly on participation, enjoyment and development, and it was heartening to see each child growing in confidence as the games progressed. The smiles on the players' faces reflected just how much they enjoyed being part of the St John's festivities.

A Huge Thank You from Everyone at Glenville GAA
As another fantastic St John's Weekend comes to a close, Glenville GAA would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who played a part in making it such a memorable and successful occasion.
A very special word of appreciation goes to Richie Cahill, our chief organiser, whose dedication, commitment and countless hours of work behind the scenes ensured that every aspect of the weekend ran smoothly. Events of this scale do not happen by chance, and Richie's leadership and tireless efforts were central to the success of St John's once again.
Thank you also to John Kennedy, who did a tremendous job providing the music and entertainment throughout the day, helping to create the welcoming atmosphere that has become synonymous with St John's. Our Chairperson, Peter Curtin, was also instrumental in the planning and delivery of the weekend. His support, guidance and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed were greatly appreciated.
A sincere thank you to those who officiated at the various tournaments and blitzes over the weekend and gave generously of their time. Richie Cahill, despite his organisational responsibilities, also refereed games, while Tony Sheehan, Paudie Cahill, Paddy O'Sullivan and Johnny O'Connell ensured that matches were played in a fair and sporting spirit.
We are also extremely grateful to Joanne McHugh for coordinating the many stalls and attractions that added so much to the festival atmosphere, and to all of our stallholders whose support and contribution helped make the day such an enjoyable experience for young and old alike.
A special mention is deserved for Finbarr Sheehan, who played a major role in the clean-up operation once the festivities had concluded. It is often the work that happens after the crowds have gone home that goes unnoticed, but Finbarr's efforts, along with those who assisted him, were hugely appreciated.
To all the clubs and teams who travelled to Glenville, thank you for being part of St John's and contributing to a wonderful celebration of football, sportsmanship and community spirit.
Finally, to the parents, families, volunteers and supporters who helped in any way — whether setting up, serving, supervising activities, tidying away, transporting children or simply turning up to support — thank you. St John's Weekend is a true community effort and a wonderful reflection of what Glenville GAA is all about.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir. Your generosity, goodwill and hard work are what make weekends like this possible, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Glenville for St John's again next year.
Cork Defy the Odds to Reach All-Ireland Quarter-Final
Congratulations to the Cork senior footballers on a magnificent victory over Donegal in Ballybofey to secure their place in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
Five points adrift at half-time, many had written Cork off against one of the championship favourites. But this Cork team showed tremendous heart, belief and resilience to produce a stirring second-half comeback. Digging deep when it mattered most, the Rebels battled back to claim a famous victory and keep their championship dreams alive.
It was a performance full of character and determination, reflecting the spirit that has always defined Cork football. Great credit is due to John Cleary, his management team, the players and backroom staff for the commitment and hard work that made this result possible.
Best of luck to the Rebels in the quarter-finals. The whole county will be behind you as the journey continues.
