Glenville Show Great Spirit and Determination Against Dromtariffe

Glenville 0-7
Dromtariffe GAA 0-11

Glenville’s first team produced a hugely spirited display at home to Dromtariffe on Friday night, battling bravely in extremely difficult weather conditions before eventually going down by four points. Despite the result, there was plenty of encouragement to take from a committed and hardworking team performance against strong opposition.

Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the opening half, Glenville were slow to settle and found themselves 0-4 to 0-1 behind after 20 minutes. However, the side responded well, showing great character and determination to work their way back into the contest. A strong closing spell to the half left just two points between the teams at the break, with Glenville trailing 0-6 to 0-4.

The second half continued at a high intensity despite the miserable conditions, with Glenville battling for every ball and refusing to let the game slip away. After 42 minutes, the home side had reduced the deficit to the minimum at 0-8 to 0-7 and looked well capable of pushing on. Unfortunately, a late Dromtariffe scoring burst saw the visitors pull clear in the closing stages to secure a 0-11 to 0-7 victory.

Dromtariffe registered five of their scores from placed balls, including a two-point free, while all of Glenville’s scores came from play, highlighting the quality of the attacking football on show from the home side. Glenville’s scorers were Eanna with three points, Ciarán with two, while Cathal and Luke added a point each.

Given the difficult conditions and the number of players unavailable through injury, holidays and other absences, it was a tremendous effort from everyone who togged out on the night. The work rate, commitment and attitude shown throughout the game reflected very positively on the squad.

There was also excellent support on the sideline and around the pitch despite the weather, and the players greatly appreciated the encouragement throughout the evening. Thanks to the management team and mentors for their continued hard work and preparation, to Dromtariffe for a competitive and sporting contest, and to the referee for officiating in such challenging conditions.

Impressive U15 Display Sees Glenville Secure Another Valuable League Victory

Glenville’s U15 footballers continued their strong league campaign with an impressive home victory this evening, producing an excellent all-round team performance to claim another two valuable points on the league table.

Played in great spirit, the game saw Glenville combine sharp attacking play with disciplined defending, with the team showing plenty of quality and determination throughout the hour. The home side made the most of their scoring opportunities when they arose, with some clinical finishing proving a major difference on the night.

As always, goals proved crucial and Glenville were ruthless when chances came their way, capitalising with some well-worked scores after excellent build-up play and teamwork all over the field. The movement, passing and support play on display were particularly pleasing, with the players working hard for one another from the opening whistle right to the finish.

At the other end of the field, Luke Ryan was in outstanding form in goals and pulled off a number of excellent saves at key moments to deny the visitors and keep Glenville firmly in control. His shot stopping and composure under pressure gave the team a strong platform throughout the game.

There was plenty of good football played around the field by Glenville, with the players showing great energy, commitment and discipline in possession. Defensively, the team worked tirelessly, while further up the field the forwards took their scores well and kept the scoreboard moving.

Overall, it was another very encouraging display from this group, with the continued improvement, teamwork and confidence within the panel clear to see. The victory keeps momentum building nicely as the league campaign continues.

Well done to all the players and management involved on another excellent result and performance.
