St John’s 2026 Set to Bring Big Crowd to Glenville GAA Grounds

Excitement is continuing to build in Glenville and the surrounding areas ahead of St John’s 2026, which takes place at Glenville GAA Grounds on Saturday, June 13th, with organisers preparing for what promises to be one of the biggest community occasions of the summer locally.

With just days to go, plans are well advanced for a packed day of sport, entertainment, food and family fun, with something on offer for all ages from early morning until late evening.

Stalls will open from 8:30am onwards, with activity taking place throughout the day around the grounds. A huge crowd is expected as people from across the parish and neighbouring communities come together to enjoy the annual event, which has become a major date on the local calendar.

A major attraction on the day will be the underage boys and girls football blitzes, with young players from clubs across the region taking part. The games are expected to create a fantastic atmosphere around the grounds and showcase the great work being done at juvenile level within local clubs.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a wide selection of food stalls, local produce stands and a vibrant farmers market featuring crafts, homemade goods and local businesses. Face painting and family entertainment will run throughout the day, ensuring plenty to keep younger visitors entertained.

St John’s continues to provide an important opportunity for local businesses, producers and community groups to showcase what they have to offer while also supporting grassroots sport and community activity in Glenville.

Organisers are still welcoming enquiries from anyone interested in taking a stall space at the event. Further information and bookings are available by contacting Joanne on 087-8571500.

With a great community atmosphere expected, Glenville GAA is encouraging everyone to save the date and come along for what promises to be a memorable and enjoyable day for all.

Surf the Curve Coaching Presentation a Great Success at Glenville GAA

Glenville GAA hosted an excellent and informative coaching presentation during the week as juvenile coaches from the club took part in a very worthwhile session delivered by Noel and Wayne from Surf the Curve.

The evening proved hugely beneficial for all involved, with plenty of practical coaching ideas, advice and insights shared throughout the presentation. Coaches in attendance greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn from Noel and Wayne’s experience and expertise in a relaxed and engaging setting.

A special word of thanks also goes to the club’s U10 players, who played a major role in the demonstrations during the session. The young players represented Glenville brilliantly throughout the evening and brought fantastic energy, enthusiasm and effort to every activity.

Glenville GAA would like to sincerely thank Noel and Wayne from Surf the Curve for giving their time and delivering such an enjoyable and educational presentation, and also thank all the coaches and players who attended and helped make the night such a success for the club’s juvenile section.

All-Ireland Success for Local Players with Cork U14 Ladies

Congratulations to Jenni Fouhy and to Watergrasshill players Abigail and Amelia following their fantastic success as part of the Cork team that captured the LGFA U14 All-Ireland Platinum title after a thrilling victory over Armagh in Roscommon on Saturday.

The girls played their part in a memorable achievement for Cork ladies football and it was a hugely proud occasion for their families, teammates, club and wider community. Representing both their club and county with distinction, the players’ hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the season were rewarded with All-Ireland glory.

It was a tremendous occasion for Watergrasshill ladies football to have local players involved on such a successful Cork panel and their achievement will no doubt inspire many young players coming through in the years ahead.

Well done to all involved with the Cork setup on a fantastic All-Ireland success.

Traenáil na Laochra Óga – Training of the Young Warriors

Watergrasshill and Glenville GAA are delighted to welcome Under 6 boys to their Young Warriors Training programme, which got underway on Saturday, April 4 and continues every Saturday at 9am in Watergrasshill GAA Club.
The programme offers a fun and friendly introduction to Gaelic Games, giving young players the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, stay active and become part of a team environment. It is aimed at boys in the relevant age group, with no previous experience required.
Parents are asked to bring boots, water and plenty of enthusiasm, with all newcomers very welcome.
For further information, contact Paud O’Neill on 087 989 0964.
Watergrasshill and Glenville GAA continue to build for the future by encouraging the next generation of young players to get involved.

Klubfunder Subscription Launched

The annual Klubfunder subscription for 2026 has now been launched. As a reminder to all members and parents, this replaces the €2 contribution that was previously collected at training sessions. The subscription is a vital source of funding for the club and plays a key role in helping to cover the ongoing costs associated with running our juvenile teams in both Glenville and Watergrasshill.

With large numbers of players involved across all age groups, these contributions help support coaching, equipment, pitch maintenance, insurance and the day-to-day running of the club. The continued support from players, parents and the wider community is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference in ensuring we can provide the best possible environment for our young players to develop and enjoy their football and hurling.

There are a couple of updates to the system this year which we hope will make things more flexible and user-friendly for families:

Members now have the option to pay either in one full payment or by instalments. An 8-month instalment option is available at checkout, allowing families to spread the cost over the season.

For families with more than one child, simply increase the number of children under the single membership option and the system will automatically apply the relevant discount for second and third children.

The pricing structure for 2026 is as follows:

€8 per month (€64 total) for U6s and boys who are playing one code

€12 per month (€96 total) for boys playing both codes

€20 per month (€160 total) in total for families with two or more boys

We would encourage all members to sign up as soon as possible to help support the club for the year ahead.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues with the system, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will be happy to assist.
