Juvenile

Fé16

Another busy week for the lads with 2 hurling matches. First up was a short trip to Killeagh for our last Division 1 league match on Sunday morning.. It is a testament to the commitment, interest and pride these lads have that they have continued to turn up in great numbers to play against first teams from strong clubs. In absolutely ideal conditions on a super surface the lads did try their best against a far stronger team. We did improve as the match went on and the lads definitely are benefiting from the game time . This team obviously have been graded way off and the club are trying incredibly hard to get this sorted for championship.

On Monday we entertained Glen Rovers for our last game before a break for the junior cert. Another ideal evening on a perfect Clonmult Memorial Park surface for this P1 league game. After a shaky start where we were being outworked, outplayed and outscored we were a few scores behind after 20 minutes. We eventually saw slight improvements before halftime and without playing well we went in at the break a point up. The message at half time was a simple one, just to work harder. This instruction was, in fairness to the lads, heeded and this led to a far better performance in the second half. Goals were got at crucial times during the half to keep the opposition, who seemed to fade, at arms length. The score in the end was Midleton 5-8 Glen 2-6. Great result lads but with 16 wides and other improvements needed we will be busy after the break!!

Well done to Will Stokes and all the other Midleton lads involved with the Cork minors on their progression to the All-Ireland semifinal.

Best of luck to all our lads doing exams in the next few days. Keep the head in the books for the next few days and ye’ll be fine lads.
