Glenville Finish Strong to Claim Valuable Away Win
Division 6 County League
Glenville 2-12
Glanworth 1-11
A great win for our first team yesterday afternoon away to Glanworth, with Glenville producing a strong finish to secure a deserved four-point victory after a hard-fought contest.
Glenville led by 2-4 to 0-5 at half time, with two excellently worked goals from Shayne Curtin and Billy Ryan proving the difference between the sides in an entertaining opening half. The lads worked tirelessly around the field and added some fine scores to take a five-point lead into the break.
Glanworth came out strongly in the second half and hit three unanswered points early on to close the gap and set up a tense battle. A goal from the home side in the 52nd minute edged them a point in front and looked to swing momentum their way.
However, Glenville showed tremendous character when it mattered most. The response was immediate, with five unanswered points helping the visitors regain control. Ciaran O’Leary was hugely influential in the closing stages, scoring four points including an excellent two-pointer from a free, while Eanna Fitzgerald also added an important score as Glenville finished strongly to seal the win.
A very encouraging team performance with great work rate and composure shown throughout the panel.
Many thanks to Glanworth for a sporting game and to the referee for officiating.
Junior C Football League
Carrignavar 0-13
Glenville 1-5
Hard luck to our Junior C team who went down to a strong Carrignavar side in Glenville this evening.
Carrignavar started brightly and built up a 0-8 to 0-2 lead by half time, but credit to the Glenville lads who showed a great attitude and determination throughout the second half. A well-taken Liam Keane penalty brought Glenville right back into contention and gave the team real momentum.
Carrignavar responded with a run of scores at an important stage, which ultimately proved difficult to reel back in, but Glenville kept battling right to the final whistle. Late points from Moss Keane and Sean Callanan capped off a strong finish from the home side.
While the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance and the effort and commitment of the entire squad could not be faulted.
Thanks to Carrignavar for a sporting contest and to the referee for officiating.
U18 Division 4B Coiste League
Glenville 5-15
Midleton 2 1-5
Glenville U18s’ Division 4B team welcomed Midleton 2 to Glenville on Saturday, May 9th for Round 4 of the Coiste League.
The game was played at a high tempo throughout, with Glenville moving the ball quickly and efficiently in the opening half to build up a healthy lead despite playing against the wind.
Midleton were missing a number of regular players and, combined with the strong wind at Glenville’s backs in the second half, the home side took full advantage as the goals came thick and fast. The lads also linked up very well throughout the game and chipped over some excellent points — an area that has shown great improvement in recent outings.
Overall, it was another strong team performance with great work rate and teamwork on display all over the field.
This league campaign has proven to be a fantastic development opportunity for both the U17 and U16 players involved, all of whom are gaining valuable experience at this level. With two games remaining, Glenville now sit in second position in the league.
Thanks to Midleton for the sporting game and to the referee for officiating.
U16 Footballers Edge Thriller in Glenville
U16 (2) Football League
Glenville 3-09 Erin’s Own 1-14
Glenville U16s produced a brilliant late finish to claim a dramatic one-point win over Erin’s Own in Glenville on Tuesday evening last.
Erin’s Own held the upper hand for much of the contest and led by 0-8 to 0-3 at half-time, but the Glenville lads kept plugging away and stayed within touching distance throughout. An improved second-half performance saw Glenville grow into the game, working hard across the field and keeping themselves in contention coming down the home straight.
Entering the final few minutes, Glenville salvaged the game with a well-worked goal to bring the sides level. With one final play remaining, the lads won the kickout, worked the ball up the field, and finished with a point right at the death to secure a memorable victory.
It was a great result for this team and a fine spectacle for all watching. Well done to the players and management on a fantastic effort. Thanks also to Erin’s Own for a great game and to referee Peter O’Donovan for officiating.

Klubfunder Subscription Launched
The annual Klubfunder subscription for 2026 has now been launched. As a reminder to all members and parents, this replaces the €2 contribution that was previously collected at training sessions. The subscription is a vital source of funding for the club and plays a key role in helping to cover the ongoing costs associated with running our juvenile teams in both Glenville and Watergrasshill.
With large numbers of players involved across all age groups, these contributions help support coaching, equipment, pitch maintenance, insurance and the day-to-day running of the club. The continued support from players, parents and the wider community is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference in ensuring we can provide the best possible environment for our young players to develop and enjoy their football and hurling.
There are a couple of updates to the system this year which we hope will make things more flexible and user-friendly for families:
Members now have the option to pay either in one full payment or by instalments. An 8-month instalment option is available at checkout, allowing families to spread the cost over the season.
For families with more than one child, simply increase the number of children under the single membership option and the system will automatically apply the relevant discount for second and third children.
The pricing structure for 2026 is as follows:
€8 per month (€64 total) for U6s and boys who are playing one code
€12 per month (€96 total) for boys playing both codes
€20 per month (€160 total) in total for families with two or more boys
We would encourage all members to sign up as soon as possible to help support the club for the year ahead.
If you have any questions or encounter any issues with the system, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will be happy to assist.
