U12 Football – Grading Game

Our U12 footballers played their first grading game of the season this evening against Erin’s Own. It was a very competitive and well-contested game, with both sides showing great skill, determination and teamwork throughout.
Glenville started brightly and worked hard all over the pitch, with some excellent passages of play and strong defensive efforts. The lads battled bravely against a physically strong Erin’s Own team, never giving up and continuing to push right to the final whistle. While they ultimately came up short on the scoreboard, the effort and attitude shown by every player could not be faulted.

This game was an important step for the group, with many players adjusting to new positions and roles. It provided a valuable learning experience and highlighted areas to work on, while also showing plenty of encouraging signs in terms of teamwork, work rate and skill level.
There were lots of positives to take from the performance, and the boys will no doubt build on this as the season progresses.
Many thanks to Erin’s Own for a sporting and competitive match, and to the referee for officiating.

Klubfunder Subscription Launched

The annual Klubfunder subscription for 2026 has now been launched. As a reminder to all members and parents, this replaces the €2 contribution that was previously collected at training sessions. The subscription is a vital source of funding for the club and plays a key role in helping to cover the ongoing costs associated with running our juvenile teams in both Glenville and Watergrasshill.

With large numbers of players involved across all age groups, these contributions help support coaching, equipment, pitch maintenance, insurance and the day-to-day running of the club. The continued support from players, parents and the wider community is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference in ensuring we can provide the best possible environment for our young players to develop and enjoy their football and hurling.

There are a couple of updates to the system this year which we hope will make things more flexible and user-friendly for families:

Members now have the option to pay either in one full payment or by instalments. An 8-month instalment option is available at checkout, allowing families to spread the cost over the season.

For families with more than one child, simply increase the number of children under the single membership option and the system will automatically apply the relevant discount for second and third children.

The pricing structure for 2026 is as follows:

€8 per month (€64 total) for U6s and boys who are playing one code

€12 per month (€96 total) for boys playing both codes

€20 per month (€160 total) in total for families with two or more boys

We would encourage all members to sign up as soon as possible to help support the club for the year ahead.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues with the system, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will be happy to assist.

Rounders Comes to Glenville
Glenville GAA is set to introduce a new Rounders section in the coming weeks and is inviting members of the community to get involved in what promises to be a fun and social addition to club life.
Rounders is one of the four official GAA sports and has a long tradition in Ireland. Known for its fast pace and inclusive nature, it is a game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. The club is planning to establish adult male, female and mixed teams, ensuring there is an opportunity for everyone to take part.
The game itself is simple and easy to learn. One team bats while the other fields, and players score by striking the ball and running around the bases. Often compared to baseball or softball, rounders is a lighter and quicker version, making it particularly accessible for beginners while still offering a competitive edge for those with experience.
This new initiative is aimed at encouraging wider participation in Glenville GAA and providing an alternative way for people to engage with the club. It offers a chance for existing members, former players and newcomers alike to get active, meet new people and enjoy being part of the GAA community in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Glenville GAA Chairperson Pete Curtin welcomed the development, saying:
“We’re delighted to see Rounders coming to Glenville. It’s a great opportunity for people to get involved in the club in a fun and social way, and we’d encourage anyone with an interest to come along and give it a go.”
The introduction of Rounders adds another dimension to club activities and reflects Glenville GAA’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, participation and community engagement.
Anyone interested in taking part can get in touch for further details.

Féile Success for Watergrasshill
A huge congratulations to the U15 girls of Watergrasshill Ladies Football and Camogie Club on their fantastic achievement in winning the P1 Football Féile Final. This is a superb accomplishment and a testament to the hard work, skill and dedication shown by the players and management team throughout the campaign. The victory sees them qualify for the National Féile Finals, which will take place in Derry — a brilliant opportunity for the group to represent their club on the national stage.
Well done also to the U15 hurlers of Watergrasshill GAA Club and their management team on winning the Cork P2 Féile Hurling Final. Another outstanding achievement for the club, and richly deserved for a team that has shown great commitment and quality. They now look ahead to the All-Ireland Féile Finals, which will be hosted in Laois and Carlow.
It is a tremendous honour for both teams to qualify for their respective National Féile Finals, and a proud moment for all involved in Watergrasshill.
Congratulations to all players, mentors and supporters — a fantastic week for the club and a great reflection of the work being done at underage level. Best of luck to both teams as they prepare to represent their club on the national stage.

Cork Set for Munster Final Showdown

All eyes will be on this Sunday’s Munster Senior Football Final as Cork  take on old rivals Kerry in what promises to be a huge occasion for football in the province.
Glenville GAA would like to extend our very best wishes to the Cork Senior Football team ahead of the decider. A Munster final between Cork and Kerry is always special, steeped in history, rivalry and pride, and Sunday’s clash is sure to be no different.
Cork have shown great progress throughout the campaign, with strong performances, resilience and a real sense of unity within the group. There is clear momentum building, and the team has given supporters plenty to be encouraged about in the lead-up to the final.
Finals are about seizing the moment, and the players and management have put themselves in a position to compete on the biggest stage in the province. It is a reward for the work that has gone in over recent months and a chance to bring further pride to the county.
Occasions like this resonate right across the county, from clubs to communities, and provide inspiration for young players coming through. At club level in Glenville, it is great to see Cork football competing strongly and representing the county with such commitment and ambition.
Everyone in Glenville GAA sends their best wishes to the panel and management for Sunday — here’s hoping for a big performance on the day.
