CENTENARY COMMITTEE MEETING. The second meeting of the Centenary Committee was held in the Clubroom on Monday night last April 27th. It began at 8.30 and finished at 10 o clock. The main item for discussion was about whether to produce a totally new history book encompassing the years 1928 to 2028 or revamp the two existing productions. The idea of a Photographic Book was also mooted. We agreed to price the different options before we meet again. Other possible event raised and proposed were a Centenary Club Day or Week, special Club Logo and Centenary items such as stickers, fobs, pens and calendars. REBELS RISING. It was a good weekend for the Cork Senior teams with both the footballers and hurlers winning. John Cleary’s side were slow starting but really got on top in the second half in Thurles to overcome Tipperary. So it’s off to Killarney on Sunday week to take on Kerry on the Munster Final -that’s for those not going to Bartlemy Races that day! . At a packed Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday Cork hurlers earned their second win with a brave and battling victory against Limerick. Two wins from two games and Ben O Connor’s side looking good. The win was tempered by the injuries to Ciaran Joyce and Rob Downey. Looks like the unfortunate Castlemartyr man is out for the season while Downey will miss the Waterford game and possibly the Clare game. One more win will see Cork in the Munster Final -next up is a trip to Walsh Park for an Angelus Time throw-in on the evening of Saturday week May 9th. It’s never easy down there -remember 1967 and 1974 and as recently as 2024!
JOIN BRIDE ROVERS CLUB 100.
A few years back as we began planning for our Club’s centenary in 2028 the Club 100 concept was put in place. With projected spending of close to One Million Euro in the coming years the need for several ‘finance streams’ was vital. The Club 100 is a method whereby supporters and benefactors of the Club can commit to financially helping the Bride Rovers GAA Club. All finance raised has gone into major Club developments in recent years. Now with massive 3 pitch Development project in Ballybrowney nearly completed we will need huge funds over the next decade to build dressing-rooms , toilets etc. There are 3 levels of Club 100 membership; Gold, Siver and Bronze. The Gold membership costs €480 annually and for this on gets 2 Annual Club Lotto tickets plus,2 Rebel Bounty Draw Tickets and family Membership of the Club.

CORK under 20 AND under 17 HURLING.
With Denis Fitzgerald and Cathal Barry involved there’s a huge Bride Rovers interest in the Munster Hurling Campaigns of the Cork under 20 and Minor (u17) hurlers. Looks like Clare, Cork and Tipperary will be the Top 3 in the Munster under 20 HC- the top team straight into the Munster Final with the other 2 meeting in a semi final on May 6th, the Final is on May 13th. Cork Clare Tipp (and Limerick) were all playing last night so the outcome of those games will determine the ’Pecking Order’ in Munster. At Minor Level Cathal Barry and his team-mates meet Clare in Pairc Ui Rinn on this Friday night May 1st and then have Limerick as visitors on Friday week May the 8th. The results of these two games will decide who is in and out of the final 3 in Munster.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONIE. This week all in Bride Rovers wish a very Happy 80th Birthday to one of our top players during the 1960’s and 1970’s -Donie Murphy of Coola, Kildinan. Donie was a stalwart defender in the Green, White and Gold jersey and to this day remains a great Club supporter. Congratulations Donie.

BRIDE ROVERS JUVENILE GAA NOTES.
The under 14’s have had a busy schedule in recent weeks with great displays and mixed results. The under 13’s too are on the go and the under11 hurlers are through to the Ballyduff Upper Tournament semi final.
Sat Apr 17th - U14 Premier 2 Hurling
League - Bride Rovers 1-7 Glen Rovers 4-8 The lads produced a battling performance but were ultimately edged out by s very good Glen Rovers team. The opening half was lively, with both sides trading scores early on. Points from Tommy Conway (2), Conor Healy (including a 65) and Adam Hackett (free) kept our lads in contention. A key moment came midway through the half when Eoghan Croke found the net with a well-taken goal, helping to push the team into a narrow lead. However, Glen Rovers responded clinically, striking for three goals in the first half to keep themselves firmly in the game. At the break, it was finely poised with our side leading 1-5 to 3-1. The second half proved more challenging as Glen Rovers began to take control. They added crucial scores, including another goal, and were particularly effective from placed balls and long-range efforts. Despite this, there was no shortage of effort or intent from our lads. Points from Conor Healy (free) and Adam Hackett in the closing stages showed continued fight, while the team worked hard to create opportunities and limit the opposition where possible. Substitutes also made a positive impact, bringing energy and fresh legs into the contest. Team: 1. Noah Collins, 2. Luke Fitzgerald, 3. Cameron Hoare, 4. Scott Lynch, 5. Thomas Hegarty, 6. Alex McCarthy, 7. Denis Skillington, 8. Tommy Conway, 9. Conor Healy, 10. Ryan Hogan, 11. Adam Hackett, 12. Matthew Finn, 13. Jack Roddis, 14. Eoghan Croke, 15. Liam Harrington, 16. Callum Dixon, 17. Fri April 24th UNDER 14 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
On Friday night last we played Carrigtwohill in the under fourteen football championship. Unfortunately we have no actual match report but we had a good win. From early on we got well on top at midfield and this ensured the forwards got plenty ball. They used it well and we ran out winners by 8 13 to 3 7, well done lads on some great football.
Sat April 25th - U14 Division 4B Football Bride Rovers 4-5 Kilworth Araglen Óg 7-10 Kilworth Araglen Óg proved too strong on the evening in an U14 match that included 11 under 13s due to players now tied up to Team 1 after championship the night before. Kilworth made a blistering start, hitting the net inside the opening minute and adding another early goal to put our lads under immediate pressure. Despite this, there was a great response, with points from Daniel Maher, Killian Donegan and Cian Barry, helping to settle the team. Cian Barry also raised a green flag midway through the half, showing good composure in front of goal. However, Kilworth’s clinical finishing, particularly in front of goal, left them leading 4-6 to 1-3 at half-time.
The second half saw a much improved and determined performance. Daniel Fitzgerald made a big impact off the bench, striking for two excellent goals, while Cian Barry added a point from a free and Donegan chipped in with another score. The team also worked hard defensively and showed good fight, with turnovers won and better structure around the middle.
Despite this strong second-half showing, Kilworth continued to take their chances and added further goals to maintain their lead, despite heroics from goalkeeper Eoin Burke in several occasions.
Overall, while the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives — particularly the resilience shown after a difficult start and the impact of substitutes.
We wish Jack Barry all the best in his recovery from a broken finger.
Team: 1. Eoin Burke, 2. Theo Skillington, 3. Liam Harrington, 4. Oisín Dorgan, 5. Jack Barry, 6. Harry Fitzpatrick, 7. Ryan Field, 8. Kayden Freeman, 9. Patrick O'Regan, 10. Aidee Carr, 11. Date: 27th April 2026
Bride Rovers under14 hurlers produced a strong and composed performance to secure a well-earned victory over Kiltha Óg in this Premier 2 league encounter.
The game was played in Jamesy Kelleher Memorial Park in Dungourney. Rovers started brightly and showed good intent from the throw-in, with early scores from placed balls by Adam Hackett settling the side. UNDER 13’s BUSY. The Bride Rovers under boys enjoyed a hugely productive and rewarding spell on the pitches recently, claiming league victories in both hurling and football with two performances built on hard work, teamwork and determination.
In the hurling league encounter away from home against Killeagh, Bride Rovers had to dig deep in a closely contested battle from start to finish. Both sides exchanged scores throughout, with strong physicality and commitment evident all over the field. The Rovers boys worked tirelessly, matching Killeagh stride for stride, and showed great composure when it mattered most. Two early goals meant Bride Rovers led from the front throughout the match with excellent scores evident against a very strong wind. The disciplined defending throughout but particularly in the closing minutes ensured the lead was protected. When the final whistle sounded, Bride Rovers emerged deserving winners by 3-8 to 2-7, a result that reflected their work rate and resilience.
That same battling spirit was on full display in the football league clash away from home against Ballinhassig. From the outset, Bride Rovers played with pace and intent, moving the ball quickly and taking their scoring chances well. The forwards were sharp and creative, while the team as a whole showed great support play to consistently turn defence into attack. Ballinhassig remained competitive throughout, but Bride Rovers responded well to any pressure, finding goals at key moments to maintain the upper hand. A strong collective effort saw the Rovers boys run out winners on a scoreline of 7-6 to 4-9 after an entertaining and high-scoring contest with Cian the Team captain These two victories were a testament to the commitment and effort of the entire panel, with every player contributing to the success across both codes. Well done to the under13 boys and their mentors on a fine set of results, and credit to their opponents for two sporting and competitive games.
