Junior Football 13/04/2026
Our Junior footballers’ Division 3 clash against our near neighbours Ballinacurra was played under lights on the fabulous new sand-based pitch at Park South last Monday evening. Conditions were perfect for football. There is always a little extra edge when we face Ballinacurra, and this was reflected in a strong turnout of players. The game began at a hectic pace, with both sides creating several early scoring opportunities. Midleton opened the scoring with a fine point from Eamonn Horgan. Stand out performances in the first half included Alan Power and Sean Corcoran who were dominant in the full-back line, while Barry Fitzgerald and Brian O’Sullivan commanded the half-back line throughout. Andy Rea’s forward runs caused no end of problems for the Ballinacurra defence. Up front, Adrian O’Donovan, Noah Cahill and Calum O’Brien were lively, getting plenty of shots away and keeping constant pressure on the opposition goal. Midleton went into the half time break with a lead of 5-points.
The second half had some very strong performances from several Midleton players. Odhran Rabbitte’s kickouts were consistently outstanding. Eoin Ferriter made a few crucial interceptions. Joey Moran was a constant problem for the opposition with his surging runs forward. Adam O’Connor, Ben O’Neill, Colin Dowling & Eamon Horgan made telling contributions to our team’s performance. Davy O’Brien & Liam McSweeney impact to the team was immediate on their introductions.
Final Score Midleton 2-15 Ballinacurra 1-07,
Scorers for Midleton Calum O’Brien 1-07, Colin Dowling, 1-01, Eamon Horgan 0-02, Andy Rea 0-01, Adrian O’Donovan 0-01, Noah Cahill 0-01, Barry Fitz 0-01, Ben O’Neill 0-01 & Adam O’Connor 0-01.
RED FM COUNTY SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 1 - 14/04/2026
GLEN ROVERS 0-13 MIDLETON 0-15
Our senior hurlers made it four wins from four in the County Hurling League Division 1 on Tuesday night when they got the better of Glen Rovers in the Glen Field in what can only be described as horrendous conditions.
There was nothing between the teams in the opening ten minutes or so as the sides were level at 0-4 apiece before the home side hit the front with three unanswered points to lead by 0-7 to 0-4 and as the end of the opening period approached it was the Blackpool men who led by five (0-11 to 0-6). But it was the Magpies who finished the opening period on the front foot and two white flags from Conor Lehane and one from Killian McDermott, saw the gap cut to two at the short whistle with the home side leading by 0-11 to 0-9. From the off in the second-half Midleton were upping the ante and a fourth point from play from Killian McDermott and one from Conor Lehane had the Magpies level at 0-11 each. By the 45th minute Midleton had gone two in front, 0-13 to 0-11, through a Conor Lehane free and a point from play from Pa White.
The Glen finished strongly but two points from Conor Lehane kept them at bay and when our excellent defence dealt with a late Glen Rovers free, it was the visitors who were the happier at the final whistle as they hung on for a thoroughly deserved victory after a great battle on an awful night for hurling. Next up is a home game against Charleville on Sunday, May 3 at 1130pm.
Midleton: Conor Lehane 0-8 (0-5 f), Killian McDermott 0-4, Pa White 0-2, Mikey Finn 0-1.
MIDLETON: Brion Saunderson; Thomas Dunlea, Tadhg O‘Leary Hayes, Carthaigh Cronin; Evan McGrath, Cormac Walsh, Evan McCarthy; Mikey Finn, Killian McDermott; Aaaron Mulcahy, Alex Quirke, Ross O’Regan; Pa White, Conor Lehane, Cian Stack. Subs: Eoghan Fraser for Mulcahy (half-time), Conor Morley for Stack (50), Killian Burke for McCarthy (51), Cathal Gunning for Quirke (55).

It’s been all football games recently until all Rebel Og action came to a halt due the fuel crisis. The break in games is giving us a chance to get a bit more training in but when the matches start up again I’m sure it’ll be a hectic few weeks to clear the back log before the start of June. On the 31st of March we entertained Youghal in the Div 4 football league. This turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable, even and exciting contest all the way to the end. After a shaky start we were lucky for some wayward shooting from our opponents as well as some excellent Midleton goalkeeping to be within a few scores before we got going. The lads played some great football from then on. While we never got the lead we were the ones pressing for scores during a very exciting finale in which we were quite unlucky to lose 2-7 to 1-8.
The same competition was on the agenda for the 7th of April where we welcomed a traffic delayed Glenville to Park South. The game got going 20 minutes behind schedule but thankfully we had enough light. This game was without a doubt our best performance of the year. The lads got off to the better start but we expected our opponents levels to rise after they warmed into the game after recovering from their longer than expected trip to Midleton. The reality was that our lads maintained their superiority and ran out convincing winners with great performances from the entire panel. Well done lads.
The evening after, April 8th, we welcomed Youghal to Clonmult Memorial Park for weirdly our 3rd successive home football game. This was in the P2 league. While missing a few of the panel this gave us a chance to reward some guys for improving performances on the Div 4 side. We definitely preformed well throughout this game against a full strength, well fancied and accomplished Youghal outfit. We stuck in all the way through, leading for times at the start of the game. We scored goals at pivotal moments to keep the pressure on. Despite a massive effort and at times highly skilled performance from the lads, the opposition kept ahead of us through a greater ability to take their points and ran out 7 point victors. 3-9 to 1-22.
Great effort lads. Hopefully we can keep up the great numbers at training and hit the ground running when the games get going in the next few days.
Camogie
Under 14 Cork:
Huge congratulations to Aoife, Abi and Penny on making the U14 Cork Camogie panel for 2026. Well done girls.

Under 14:
Our U14's (2nd team) played their first match in the U14 B 21b league v Clonakilty at home in PS on Tuesday evening 7th April. On a beautiful evening, Clonakilty started well and demonstrated their skills and fitness levels to take a good lead by half time. But our girls never gave up and stormed into the second half showing great determination and spirit - such that they came back to win the match by 2 points! It was a great game to watch & we could not have done it without the 4 U13 players (Hannah, Fiadh, Amber and Sasha) who contributed so much to the game with their tackling, defending, fitness & scoring but also to the 3 U12 girls (Libby, Fia and Kyra) who joined us at short notice and played with such ability and enthusiasm, as well as adding to the final score line! Very proud of this group of girls and look forward to our next match of the league which is away to Carrigaline on Saturday April 18th. All support is welcome and we wish the girls best of luck in the rest of the league!

Minors:
Well done to the Minors on Wednesday 1st of April who played some good Camogie on a heavy pitch and got the season off to a great start with an away win. Final score: St Fanahans 0:09, Midleton 2:12. Our next match is on Wednesday 15th of April at home in Park South at 7:30. Come out to support the girls.

St. Mary’s:
Well done to St Mary's High School who are munster league winners on Tuesday 14th April in Castle Road. Well done to the whole team and our Midleton girls.

Under 14’s:
Our U14 P2 camogie team travelled to Ballynoe on Tuesday 14th April for the second round of the U14 P2 league. Despite poor weather conditions, the girls showed excellent skill and teamwork, setting the tone from the very first whistle. They maintained control of the game and worked tirelessly together to secure a well-deserved win. Thank you to our Captain on the night Eve to St. Catherine’s for hosting the match and to the parents for travelling and their support. Next in this league this team will play Crosshaven at home.

Ladies Football
U16 League v Carrigtwohil 13/04/2026
Hard luck to our U16 girls who narrowly lost out to Carrigtwohill in their league game on Monday evening. We started slow but soon found our form and continued to battle hard. Credit is due to the team who for their great attitiude.
Junior League v Kinsale 16/04/2026
Our Junior Ladies had a long journey on Thursday evening as they travelled to Kinsale in their 3rd round league game. Tough conditions of a gale force wind make it very difficult for both teams. Midleton played with the aid of an incline in the first half but scores were hard to come by. Eventually we found our rhythm and soon the points came our way. We faced the strong wind in the second half but it favoured Kinsale who too advantage of this. Well done on a great team effort.
