Dads & Lads Gaelic Football – Excellent Turnout at Opening Session
Glenville GAA’s Dads & Lads Gaelic football programme has got off to a very positive start for 2026, with excellent numbers attending the recent sessions on the club’s Astro pitch.
The initiative, which takes place every Sunday evening at 8.30pm, is designed to provide a relaxed, social and inclusive opportunity for men of all ages to get active and enjoy a casual game of football. The emphasis is firmly on participation and enjoyment, with no pressure and no prior playing experience required.
The strong turnout to date reflects the growing appetite within the community for informal, fitness-based activity in a friendly club environment. Sessions have been marked by a great atmosphere, plenty of involvement and an enjoyable mix of ages and abilities, making it an ideal way to ease back into regular exercise after the Christmas period.
New participants are welcome to join at any stage over the coming weeks. Anyone interested in getting involved, or seeking further information, can contact John on 085 710 2290.
Glenville GAA would encourage anyone looking for a sociable and accessible way to improve fitness in the New Year to come along and give Dads & Lads a try.
Weather Disruption to Under-21 Fixtures
Recent weather conditions played havoc with Glenville GAA’s Under-21 fixtures, resulting in a number of postponements and refixed games over the past week.
The U21C fixture against Castlelyons was postponed and has now been refixed for Tuesday evening, following a bereavement. The club extends its sympathies to all those affected.
Looking ahead, the current plan is for the U21C side to face Lisgoold on Friday night in Fouhy’s, subject to pitch conditions and final confirmation.
Meanwhile, the U21A team are scheduled to play Midleton on Saturday, with the game fixed for Midleton 4G, providing a welcome all-weather surface after a challenging period of cancellations.
Supporters are asked to keep an eye on club channels for any late changes, as conditions continue to be monitored closely. Glenville GAA would like to thank players, mentors, referees and opposition clubs for their flexibility and cooperation during a disrupted spell of fixtures
Strong Community Support for Glenville GAA Scrap Metal Collection
Glenville GAA continue to receive excellent support for the club’s ongoing scrap metal collection, which is raising funds for additional equipment for the club gym.
The initiative has been met with a very positive response from the local community, with all proceeds ring-fenced specifically for gym improvements, supporting player welfare and training standards across the club.
A skip remains in place at the Astro Pitch side of the Glenville GAA grounds, where suitable items can be dropped off. A collection service is also available for heavier items, with club volunteers happy to assist where required.
Accepted materials include steel, copper, aluminium and lead, along with items such as old gates, fridges, boilers, sinks, radiators, cable and washing machines. Items that cannot be accepted include plastic, rubber, tyres, timber, paint cans, hazardous materials and general household waste.

Glenville GAA on Course to Reach Every Step Counts Target
Glenville GAA are making excellent progress in this year’s Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs Every Step Counts Steps Challenge and are on course to reach the club’s 4,000km target this week.
The nationwide initiative, which runs from 7 January to 11 February, aims to encourage physical activity and wellbeing during the winter months. Glenville participants have already logged in excess of 2,500 kilometres, representing a strong collective effort as the challenge enters its closing stages.
Steps are recorded through the MyLife by Irish Life app, with each individual contribution adding to Glenville GAA’s overall total on both the Munster and national leaderboards. The club has taken part in the challenge for a number of years, and the sustained level of engagement once again reflects the commitment of members and supporters to staying active and connected during the winter period.
Glenville GAA would like to thank everyone who has taken part to date and encourage participants to keep logging their steps as the club looks set to achieve the 4,000km milestone in the coming days.
