ENTRIES CLOSE THIS WEEK – GLENVILLE GAA LAST PERSON STANDING
Glenville GAA is currently running a Last Person Standing competition in support of the club’s Adult Section teams for the 2026 season, with a €500 cash prize for the overall winner.
The competition is based on the National Football League, with participants selecting one team per gameweek. A winning selection progresses to the next round, while a loss or draw results in elimination. The competition continues until a single winner remains.
Entry costs €10 and the competition is open to all ages.
Entries must be submitted by 9pm on Friday, 23rd January 2026, making this the final opportunity to enter following this week’s edition of The Avondhu.
In addition to the main prize, Glenville GAA is also offering a strong club gear incentive this year. Anyone who returns a minimum of eight prediction cards (€80) will receive a Glenville GAA gear package, including a newly designed club training jersey, club hoodie and club shorts. Alternatively, participants may choose one of the following items instead: a club waterproof, gilet or puffer jacket.

Strong Glenville Representation at Imokilly Senior Football Trials
There was great representation from Glenville GAA at last week’s Senior Football Imokilly trials, with a huge amount of work currently going into preparations for the upcoming championship.
It was encouraging to see the effort and organisation behind the scenes as the Imokilly management team continues to shape the panel, and credit is due to Pat McHugh and Dan Linehan, who are both involved as part of the backroom team.
Well done to all involved in what is a very positive start to championship preparations.
U21 Football League Begins This Weekend
The U21 Football League gets underway next weekend, marking the first competitive fixtures of the year for Glenville GAA.
Glenville’s second team will open the campaign away to Castlelyons on Friday night, with throw-in at 7.30pm. The club’s first team are also on the road, travelling to Aghada on Sunday morning, where throw-in is scheduled for 11.30am.
These opening fixtures provide an important early opportunity for players to gain game time and for management teams to assess panels ahead of the season ahead.
Best of luck to both teams and their management as the 2026 campaign gets underway.
Glenville GAA Well on Target in Every Step Counts Challenge
Glenville GAA are making excellent progress in this year’s Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs – Every Step Counts Steps Challenge, and are well on course to reach the 4,000km target.
The nationwide initiative, which runs from 7 January to 11 February, encourages physical activity and wellbeing during the winter months. Glenville participants have already logged over 2,500 kilometres, representing a strong collective effort and placing the club in a very positive position as the challenge enters its final stages.
Steps are tracked using the MyLife by Irish Life app, with individual efforts contributing to Glenville GAA’s total on both Munster and national leaderboards.
Glenville GAA have taken part in the challenge for a number of years, and the continued strong engagement once again highlights the commitment of members and supporters to staying active and connected during the winter period.
Continued Strong Support for Glenville GAA Scrap Metal Collection
