HUGE WORK DONE ON PITCH PLAYING SURFACE
After a hectic year of non-stop action, the main pitch in Glenville is currently undergoing a well-earned spell of maintenance.
The club has invested heavily in a resurfacing project, with large sections of the pitch relaid using new turf harvested and transported from the Croke Park Farm in Dublin. In addition, extensive shock-waving, aeration, sanding, fertilising, spiking and spraying works have been carried out on the playing surface over the past number of weeks.
As a result of this programme of work, the pitch will provide an excellent playing surface for our teams once the new season begins. All works are now complete, and we thank members and the wider community for their cooperation and patience during this period.
This important investment has been made possible through the continued support of our weekly and annual Lotto supporters. Once again, thank you for your ongoing backing of Glenville GAA — it truly makes a difference.

SCRAP METAL COLLECTION
Glenville GAA is holding a scrap metal collection and members and supporters are encouraged to clear out any unwanted metal items from sheds and yards.
The fundraiser is being held to support the purchase of additional equipment for the club gym, with all proceeds ring-fenced specifically for this purpose.
A wide range of metal items can be accepted, including copper, steel, lead and aluminium, as well as old cars, vans, gates, fridges, boilers, sinks, radiators, cable and washing machines. Items not accepted include plastic, rubber, tyres, timber, paint cans, hazardous materials or general household rubbish.
A skip is in place at the Astro side of the Glenville GAA grounds for drop-off, and a collection service is available for very heavy items where required. For further information or assistance, contact any of the organisers listed on club communications.

DADS & LADS BLITZ – A MORNING OF FOOTBALL AND FUN
A thoroughly enjoyable morning of football took place at the Glenville GAA Astro Pitch as the Dads & Lads Blitz was played in excellent spirit, with no scores kept and the emphasis firmly on participation, enjoyment and community. Four teams — Glenville, Laochra Aeracha, Russell Rovers and Kildorrery — embraced the format fully and contributed to a memorable occasion both on and off the pitch.

Laochra Aeracha v Kildorrery
The opening game of the morning set the tone perfectly, with Laochra Aeracha and Kildorrery easing themselves into proceedings after the early start. Laochra Aeracha moved the ball well through Ray Tobin-Walsh and Aaron Kelly, with Kieran Murphy and James Kennedy working tirelessly through the middle. Kildorrery responded with plenty of energy of their own, as Kevin English, Mike Sheahan and Aonghus O’Duinnin helped keep play flowing, supported by the neat movement of Tadhg Lane and Paul Palmer. Both sides showed good composure and plenty of smiles, making it an ideal curtain-raiser.

Glenville v Russell Rovers
Glenville’s first outing saw them face a lively Russell Rovers side in a game full of movement and encouragement. Glenville settled well through Stephen Ryan and Mark O’Sullivan, while Will Sheehy and Michael Dinan enjoyed plenty of the ball. The standout moment for the hosts came when Michael Murphy produced a superbly taken goal, the finish greeted with warm applause from the sidelines.
Russell Rovers moved the ball fluently through Noel O’Brien, Michael Furlong and Chris Scanlon, with Tim Hennessy and Dave Hackett covering huge ground. A particularly special moment saw Niall O’Keeffe lining out alongside his daughter Laura and sons Dylan and Cian, a rare family occasion that perfectly captured the spirit of the blitz.

Glenville v Kildorrery
Glenville were quickly back in action against a well-organised Kildorrery side who were clearly enjoying the format. Michael Murphy and Niall O’Connor drove Glenville forward, while Tadhg Manley, Derek O’Reilly and Timmy O’Callaghan ensured plenty of rotation and energy.
The highlight of the contest came when Paudie Cahill finished a flowing team move with a well-taken goal, one of several passages of play that showcased the relaxed but competitive nature of the morning. Kildorrery continued to impress through Mike Clarke, Denis Howard and Brendan McSweeney, with Cormac Kenny and Aonghus Daly linking play nicely throughout.

Russell Rovers v Laochra Aeracha
This encounter was one of the most entertaining of the morning, with both sides now well settled into the rhythm of the blitz. Russell Rovers enjoyed strong passages of play through Fergus Hayes, Brian Dennehy and Kenneth Condon, while JP McGinnity and Will Sliney added plenty of energy.
Laochra Aeracha responded with real determination, as Scott Downey and Craig Browne worked hard at the back, while Ray Tobin-Walsh, Stephen Lynch, Jean Simpson and Enos Quill ensured the contest stayed lively and competitive, all played in excellent spirit.

Glenville v Laochra Aeracha
Another enjoyable contest followed as Glenville took on Laochra Aeracha. Glenville again found moments of quality going forward, with Michael Murphy adding another fine goal, while Paudie Cahill capped an energetic display with another well-worked finish, both goals drawing appreciative applause.
Behind them, Mark O’Sullivan, Will Sheehy and Michael Dinan kept the ball moving, while Denis Buttimer and Paddy O’Sullivan ensured Glenville remained organised. Laochra Aeracha stayed competitive through the efforts of Aaron Kelly, James Kennedy and Kieran Murphy, with substitutions flowing freely and everyone getting game time. Glenville manager John O’Connor kept things ticking over calmly from the sideline.

Kildorrery v Russell Rovers
The final game of the morning provided a fitting conclusion, with both teams emptying the tank while keeping the laughs coming. Brian Tennyson, Tom Ahern and Johnny McCarthy ensured Kildorrery finished strongly, while Russell Rovers again showcased great togetherness through Noel O’Brien, Michael Furlong and Chris Scanlon. The O’Keeffe family continued to enjoy their unique day out together, with Laura, Dylan, Cian and Niall still full of running late in the programme.

THANKS & APPRECIATION

A Great Morning for a Great Cause
The blitz was played in an excellent atmosphere throughout and raised €300 for Le Chèile Africa, an outstanding Irish charity. Sincere thanks are extended to Aaron Kelly (Laochra Aeracha), Niall O’Keeffe (Russell Rovers) and Kevin English (Kildorrery) for managing their teams and contributing so positively to the occasion.
Glenville GAA would also like to thank all players, supporters and volunteers who helped make the morning such a success — a brilliant example of what the club and community are all about.

Glenville GAA would also like to extend sincere thanks to everyone who prepared sandwiches and provided refreshments on the day. Their efforts were greatly appreciated by players and supporters alike and added enormously to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that made the blitz such an enjoyable occasion.
