CO. U-21 AHC QUARTER-FINAL NOV 29th 2025

MIDLETON 4-25 BALLINCOLLIG 2-18

After their excellent East Cork Final win over Bride Rovers, our U-21 hurlers began the defence of their County title on Saturday last when they travelled to the Pairc Uí Chaoimh 3G pitch to take on Muskerry champions Ballincollig.

The Muskerry men came storming out of the blocks in this game and struck for the game’s opening goal on five minutes to put them 1-2 to 0-3 in front. They extended that lead to 1-4 to 0-3 after seven minutes but then the men in Black and White struck a real purple patch. Between the seventh and 16th minutes we outscored our opponents by 2-4 (all from play) to 0-1 with our goals coming from Cian Stack and Evan McGrath and our points being supplied by Mikey Finn, Matthew McSweeney, Cathal Beausang and Davy Cremin.

There was little between the sides in the scoring stakes in the second quarter and Midleton points from Davy Creming, Cian Stack and two from Mikey Finn saw us go in at the half-time break with a four point lead, 2-11 to 1-10.

Within two minutes of the restart that advantage was down to two as Ballincollig struck for the opening brace of white flags of the second period. We soon responded with points from Evan McGrath and Darragh Egan before Evan McGrath struck for his second goal of the game in the sixth minute of the second period to put us 3-13 to 1-13 in front.  Davy Cremin struck for a beauty of a fourth goal in the 43rd minute and try as they did, there was no way back for Ballincollig and with Senan Carroll hitting four points off the bench, from play, we led by 4-25 to 1-18 in injury-time before Ballincollig struck for the game’s final score, a green flag, deep into stoppage time.

Well done to all involved on a good win.

Next up is a County Semi-Final against Carbery champions, Newcestown, on this coming Saturday (December 6) once again on the Pairc Uí Chaoimh 3G, this time at 3pm. It will be followed by the other semi-final between Shandrum and Valley Rovers at 4.45pm.

MIDLETON: Zach Smith; Sean McSharry, Tadhg O’Leary-Hayes, Cian Lawton; Matthew McSweeney, Carthaigh Cronin, Eoghan Fraser; Darragh Egan, Mikey Finn (jc); Cathal Beausang, Evan McGrath, Cian Stack; Davy Cremin (jc), Conor Morley, Peter Barrett. Camogie

Minors:

It has been a long year but what a great day for Midleton Camogie Club on Sunday 30th of Nov when the 23 girls involved and parents won the Minor A championship for the first time.
What an achievement for this group, winning the minorA championship, minorA league and Imokilly u17 summer cup this year. They are a really special group of young adults who showed true grit and determination to come back from being 0 06 to 0 02 down at half time to win 0 10 to 0 06 in very difficult conditions holding St Catherines scoreless in the second half. The future of Midleton Camogie Club is bright!
We have played 12 competitive matches winning all 12, in all minor competitions which is some achievement for them. It has been a group effort and everyone has contributed so much. (special mention to Amy who was sick, Tia injured and Gabby away) They should be so very proud of themselves.
