Under-15s Bow Out After Extra-Time Thriller
Glenville’s Under-15 footballers showed tremendous heart and quality but were unfortunate to miss out on a place in the championship final following a dramatic extra-time defeat to Cobh.
Glenville made a blistering start, racing into a 1-7 to 0-2 lead inside the opening quarter. Their quick passing, support play and sharp movement caused real problems for the opposition, and the early signs suggested a Glenville victory might be on the cards. However, Cobh rallied strongly and reduced the margin to five points by half-time.
The pattern continued after the interval, with Glenville working hard and maintaining their advantage for long periods. With less than ten minutes to play, it appeared they were on course for the final, but Cobh mounted one last surge, clawing their way back to force extra time.
Extra time was equally tense, with Cobh establishing a six-point cushion before Glenville responded. A late goal from James Ford gave the team hope, but despite a brave push in the closing stages, they were unable to find the score that would have forced a replay.
While the result was disappointing, Glenville can take great pride in their performance. This was a thrilling contest that highlighted the commitment, skill and fighting spirit within the group, and the players can hold their heads high after a tremendous effort.

U11s Enjoy Great Evening in Páirc Uí Chaoimh
Glenville’s U11 footballers enjoyed a very positive evening in Páirc Uí Chaoimh recently, where a group of 19 young players lined out for two highly entertaining games. Despite challenging weather conditions, the boys produced an excellent display of skill, teamwork and determination throughout.
Both games were played in a very sporting manner and provided a great opportunity for the players to experience football on one of the county’s top pitches. The group continues to develop well and their commitment on the night was evident.
The club extends sincere thanks to Brian Dillons for travelling and for contributing to two very competitive and enjoyable matches.
