LOTTO – HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES??
With less than five weeks to “Happy Winter Vacation” time and the related fuss over exchanging of presents, expensive nights out and subsequent inevitable drains on the bank balance, wouldn’t it be nice to be in a position to bump up that same under-duress bank balance to the tune of €18,400? That’s the current value of our Club Lotto, with the next draw taking place on Tuesday 18th November. Get in – online or in shops – by 7.30 p.m., and who knows, it could be you! If you’re not in, you can’t ….
CONGRATULATIONS
To all the 2025 All-Stars – footballers, hurlers, male and female - but a special bualadh bos mór to our neighbour Ciarán Joyce on getting overdue recognition for his gaiscí sa gheansaí dearg! Coupled with Mack Hansen’s three tries in the oval game on Saturday evening, it’s a mighty sporting output from one little postage stamp of ground on the N25!
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT
A large attendance gathered in Páirc Uí Chinnéide for our Annual General Meeting on Monday November 3rd, with Brian Barry i bhfeighil an tí don chéad uair mar chathaoirleach. Thankfully (or sadly, depending on your perspective and hankering for times past!), the days of the much anticipated or what-the-hell-happened-there bust-ups over selectors and their decisions, events that may or may not have happened during the year, or comments alleged to have been made on a sideline, in a pub or in a smokeless room, are confined to the lore of AGMS past! All ran very smoothly, in line with Club Constitution rules, and matters concluded in relatively prompt fashion! By the conclusion of the AGM, all officer posts had been filled, bar one very important one, the role of Vice-Chairperson. As Brian begins Year 2 of his three-year term, appointing a Vice-Chair who may consider stepping up to the Chair in two years’ time would help our club to do our succession planning. None of the Murdochs are eligible (unless they pay their membership promptly) so perhaps that leaves the door ajar for someone else. Cuir suas do lámh nó cuir glaoch ar Brian má tá suim agat sa phost! At the risk of sounding like the speaking clock, “Ask not what your club can do for you …..”
