CO-OP SUPERSTORES PSHC QUARTER-FINAL Sept 19th

MIDLETON 2-19 GLEN ROVERS 2-17

The Midleton senior hurlers booked their place in the semi-finals of the county championship for the third year in a row with an exciting and hard-fought two point win over Glen Rovers at a very well attended Pairc Uí Rinn on Friday night last.

The Glen got off to a great start with an early goal but we slowly but surely grew into the game. Points from Mikey Finn and Ross O’Regan got us up and running before a Cormac Beausang goal had the sides level at 1-3 each.

There was little to choose between the sides for the rest of the half before Patrick Horgan goaled for the City men from a 20m free with five minutes remaining in the opening half and at the short whistle the Northsiders led by five, 2-10 to 1-8.

Our first-half scores came from Cormac Beausang 1-1, Conor Lehane 0-3 (0-2 frees), Ross O’Regan 0-2, Mikey Finn and Killian McDermott 0-1 each.

Early second-half points from Micheál Mullins and Patrick Horgan extended the Glen’s advantage to seven and the men in Black looked in deep trouble but they never panicked and hurled their way back into the contest to set up a grandstand finish.

Midleton needed a goal and in the 41st minute, great work by Eoin Moloney and Tommy O’Connell set up Cormac Beausang for his and his team’s second green flag of the night and the gap was down to three, 2-14 to 2-11.

In the last 20 minutes Midleton would outscore their opponents 1-8 to 0-3 as they finished superbly with a huge impact off the bench.

The deficit was wiped out and the sides level by the 56th minute but Glen attacker Simon Kennefick hit two points in a minute to ensure the City men led by two with the game heading for injury-time.

Luke O’Farrell cut the deficit to one before Conor Lehane levelled from a free after Mikey Finn had been fouled. Luke struck for his second point of the night in stoppage time before Conor made it a two point game from a free after David Cremin was upended.

There was late drama when Patrick Horgan stood over another 20m free but this time his effort was well saved and Midleton marched on to the final four for the fourth time in five years.

Midleton’s second-half scores came from Conor Lehane 0-7 (0-6 frees), Cormac Beausang 1-0, Killian McDermott and Luke O’Farrell 0-2 each.

This excellent win means that we now face Blackrock in the County semi-finals in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday week, October 5, at 2pm. The other semi-final between St. Finbarrs and Sarsfields is fixed for 3.45pm at the same venue.

Scorers for Midleton: Conor Lehane 0-10 (0-8 f), Cormac Beausang 2-1, Killian McDermott 0-3, Ross O’Regan, Luke O’Farrell 0-2 each, Mikey Finn 0-1.

CO-OP SUPERSTORES COUNTY INTERMEDIATE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL Sept 20th

MIDLETON 1-18 AGHABULLOGUE 1-12

Our intermediate hurlers’ 2025 campaign came to an end at the quarter-final stage on Saturday in Carrignavar where they lost out to Aghabullogue in a repeat of the 2023 County Final at this grade.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze it was the men from Mid Cork who raced into a four points to nil lead but the men in Black and White were soon back in the contest through an Adam Daly green flag.

After a cracking effort from the Midleton lads in the opening period, hopes were high when we headed for the dressing room trailing by a single point, 0-10 to 1-6, with the wind at our backs for the second thirty minutes.

When we struck for the opening two points of the second period to take the lead, things looked good for us to follow our seniors into the last four put unfortunately we ran out of legs and scores as we only managed two points from play in the second half, six points in all and we failed to trouble the scoreboard for the final 11 minutes to ensure that Aghabullogue marched on to a semi-final meeting with Aghada by six points.

Well done to players and management for all their efforts throughout 2025 and hard luck on Saturday’s defeat.

Scorers for Midleton: Aaron Mulcahy 0-7 (0-5 f), Adam Daly 1-0, Paul Haughney 0-2, Cian Crowley, Seamus O’Farrell, Cathal Beausang 0-1 each.

MIDLETON: Cillian Hurley; Cahal Gunning, Christian Murphy, Adam Fay; Killian Burke, Carhaigh Cronin, Padraig O’Farrell; Adam Daly, Paul Haughney; Aaron Mulcahy, Seamus O’Farrell, Cathal Beausang; Eoghan Fraser, Conor Morley, Cian Crowley. Subs: Aidan Ryan for Beausang (38), Cathal Beausang for Morley (inj 49), Leo Hennessy for Gunning (51), Cathal Gunning for Daly (inj 60).

Under 14

Our U14’s played their final group game against Mallow away on Sunday 21st of September. After a sluggish first half we played with much greater spirit and determination in the second half. Mallow came out winners in the end however we have done enough to qualify for the County Semi Final. Well done girls and coaches.

Under 12

Our U12’s lined out against Watergrasshill on the 3G in Park South for their 4th match in phase 4 on 18th of September. Conditions were poor and the opposition were tough. The girls battled the whole way through. It was score for score and Watergrasshill went ahead. It wasn’t to be for the girls in the end.

Lily Grant Championship

A massive congratulations to our Lily Grant team who defeated Tracton in Minane Bridge on Sunday 21st of September. They have now progressed to the final of their Championship. Well done girls and coaches.
