Castlemartyr GAA News
Premier Intermediate Exit
Ballincollig 3-22 Castlemartyr 0-18
A disappointing trip to Carrigtwohill on Sunday afternoon, where our ambitions of progress came crashing down in the face of a very good Ballincollig performance.
Seven points down at half time , having played into the breeze, the reds got the margin back to five at one stage but the concession of two more goals left us well adrift and unfortunately now facing a relegation play off against Mallow in GLANWORTH (note change of venue) on Saturday week September 20th at 4pm. In what was always going to be a tight group, our one win over Ballinhassig was not enough to keep us away from trouble due to Eire Og's impressive win over Cloyne - ironically Ballinhassig's late winning point against Kilworth has seen them make it straight through to the semi finals from our group.
Time to refocus and hopefully get that all important win against Mallow.
Scorers: M Kelly 0-8 (0-3 f), Billy McGann 0-3, J Stack, C Joyce, D Joyce (f) 0-2 each, L Martin 0-1.

Junior B Hurling Championship Update
-Castlemartyr 0-19 Dungourney 3-15
A busy few weeks for our second string hurlers came to an end with defeat by a strong Dungourney side in Sunday's championship quarter final in Shanagarry.
Despite a very promising start when we led by 0-4 to 0-0, the concession of three goals over the hour proved crucial as our neighbours took the plaudits after a good game of hurling.
Richard Burke, had some great moments in defence, Charlie O'Neill had a superb match in the midfield sector, whilst Daire Coughlan scored a string of superb points as he continued his excellent form. Dungourney led by 1-9 to 0-9 at half time and stretched to lead by 2-13 to 0-13, but Castlemarty battled away and had the margin back to two points on 51 minutes. However, a third green flag for the opposition stalled our progress.
Afterwards, both teams stood together for a photocall in a show of strength in support of Kiltha Og GAA Club in a show of strength against the proposed changes to under age club structures.

Junior Football
The focus turns to football this weekend as we play Youghal in Killeagh at 6pm in our final group game. Qualification for the knockout stages has already been secured, but a semi final place is also a possibility. Carrigtwohill and Carraig na bhFear, the other respective group leaders, have like ourselves maximum points thus far, so it will go down to scoring difference should all three teams get the same results this weekend.
Club 5K Walk On Sunday
Castlemartyr GAA are staging our 5K Walk for all the family on the Greenway from Mogeely at 12 noon on this Sunday September 14th. Whilst there will be no sponsorship cards available, there will be a bucket collection and a credit card facility available .
It's all part of our continued development plans as we aim to enhance club facilities with the new gym and meeting room/kitchen our immediate projects. We encourage our players, club members, family, friends and supporters to join us. Don't forget to wear your club colours.
Whilst the club received some good news last week in the shape of grant aid via the Eirgrid Interconnector Project, we do need to raise more funds to help advance our plans. All contributions are appreciated.
Kiltha Óg Meeting
Before the walk, another reminder is Thursday's very important meeting.
- A Public meeting to discuss County Board proposals and their impact for Kiltha Og, will be held in Ballintotis Community Centre on this Thursday 11 Sept at 8pm. All invited / encouraged to attend. Alot has happened at County level over a short period of time - this meeting will give people the opportunity to find out exactly what is ahead and evaluate exactly what the current lie of the land is during a time of change.
