RED FM HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 2
MIDLETON 0-21 KILLEAGH 1-21
Our senior hurlers ended their league campaign at home to Killeagh on Friday night and in the end it was the visitors to Clonmult Memorial Park who came away with the points in front of a big crowd. Na Piarsaigh’s victory away to Erin’s Own on Tuesday night meant that Midleton were promoted from this Division and in the league final regardless of the result in this game but Killeagh needed to win to gain promotion and book their place in the league decider. It was a very even opening ten minutes before Midleton led by 0-6 to 0-3 after 15 minutes and Kian Farmer was unlucky not to add a green flag.
Killeagh struck back and were level at 0-7 each after 24 minutes before Killeagh were awarded a penalty moments later and Zach Smith made a great save from Cork U-20 Barry Walsh, who would go on to score 1-14 (1-1 from play) on his senior league debut. Killeagh led by 0-12 to 0-10 at the half-time break.
Killeagh’s advantage was still two (0-16 to 0-14) when Barry Walsh struck the game’s only goal on 44 minutes to put the men in green five up with a quarter to play. Two points from Cormac Beausang and one from Ross O’Regan saw Midleton cut the gap to one with five minutes to play but Killeagh finished strong to take the points.
This result means that both of these teams are promoted to division one for 2026 and will meet again on Sunday week, July 13, in the Division 2 Final in Carrigtwohill at 5pm. This game will be followed by the Division 1 Final between Sarsfields and St. Finbarrs at 7pm.

RED FM HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 5
MIDLETON 3-21 MILFORD 2-22
Those who made their way to Clonmult Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon were treated to an absolute cracker as the Magpie intermediates came from 11 points down to win by two in their final league game against Milford.
The men from North Cork played with the strong breeze in the opening 30 minutes and they made the most of it by playing some excellent hurling and bagging 0-9 from play and 0-8 from placed balls to lead at the midway point by 0-17 to 0-7 with Midleton’s first-half scores coming from Cathal Beausang and Evan McGrath 0-2 each, Aidan Ryan, Gavin Bagnell and Carthaigh Cronin 0-1 each.
Milford stretched their lead to 11 early in the second-half but then the home side really got going and stormed back into this game. Goals from Gary Carroll, Conor Morley and Padraig O’Brien were huge but Milford also struck for two goals of their own to ensure that this game went all the way to the final whistle but on the day it was the fact that the Magpies had 12 different scorers from play, including 1-1 off the bench, that proved to be the difference between the sides as Midleton held out for a brilliant comeback win.
This result meant that Midleton finished their Division 5 campaign in fifth place of ten teams with five wins from nine games.
Scorers for Midleton: Cathal Beausang 0-9 (0-5 play), Conor Morley 1-2, Gary Carroll and Padraig O’Brien 1-0 each, Evan McGrath and Dara Scanlon 0-2 each, Thomas Dunlea, Gavin Bagnell, Carthaigh Cronin, Eoghan Fraser, Aidan Ryan and Padraic Nagle 0-1 each.

Fé 15 notes
Football was on the agenda this week with both teams lining out. On Sunday evening we went up to Douglas to play our fifth match in the U16 football division 5 league. There was a sense of déjà vu about this game as we were ultra competitive in the first half and our opponents taking over in the second half as was the case in the last couple of outings. The wind, which we had in the first half, was definitely a major factor and we played some nice football assisted by the elements. We went in at the short whistle on level terms and we thought with a similar performance we would be in with a chance of taking the points. Alas our opponents definitely upped it while playing with the wind and started to drift away from us on the score board. The lads to be fair never dropped the heads and tried to the end even though we ended shipping a pretty heavy defeat. Thanks Aaron for filling in and playing mighty!!
On Monday evening we travelled to Caherlag to play Erin’s Own in the Fe15 Group 2a league. This was expected to be a close affair as we were level in points going into the game and they had been playing a level above us in previous years. This game ended up being anything but competitive with our lads giving a top class performance, winning their battles all over the field and scoring nearly at will. All around the field we were completely on top and we conceded our lowest tally in years. In the end we were very comfortable winners chipping in with a massive score. Well done on the effort lads in both matches and remember you learn more from defeat than an easy win so back training again lads for the next outings.
