The panel have completed their various league competitions ahead of the Exam break with a number of games being played:

P1 Football

We played two league games over the past few weeks and unfortunately the results did not go our way, the depth of the squad was tested over these games due to injuries. There was no lacking in work rate and effort and the outcomes could have been different if we had converted some of our chances.

Results: Midleton 1.12 – Carrigaline 1.15

Midleton 1.08 – St. Finbarrs 5.15

P1 Hurling

In our first home game in Clonmult Memorial Park this year, the panel had a hard-earned result over Na Piarsaigh. As with our previous games in this competition the platform for the result was the work rate and determination shown by the players from the throw in, up-front the team were led by Liam Walsh who was unerring from frees with 1.06 in his total of 2.09 over the 60 minutes.

Final Score: Midleton 2.18 – Na Piarsaigh 1.11

Division 4 football

The panel played their final game of the league competition against Erins Own, aware that a positive result on the night would give them an opportunity to qualify for a League Final. The players once again showed their competitive side in the second half where they overturned a 3-point deficit to a 4-point win, which along with other results mean the players qualified for the league final.

Final Score: Midleton 1.10 – Erins Own 1.06

We are awaiting the details of the league final and look forward to the forthcoming championship.

Division 4 Hurling

We are awaiting details of our league final, and Championship will begin after the Junior Cert exams.

We would like to wish all the players who are carrying injuries a speedy recovery and the best of luck to those who will be undertaking their Junior Certificate exams in the coming weeks.

A busy week this week for the lads with U 16 division 5 football and hurling both on the agenda. First up was a trip to city to take on Glen Rovers in our last game in the hurling league. While we had a promising start to this clash going a goal up and despite a mighty effort by all of the lads we struggled to score while our opponents, who had 2 very dangerous forwards scored a lot more freely. All the lads played great with no shortage of effort but sometimes you just meet a better team. We ended up on the wrong side of a 4-16 to 1-6 score line. While this level certainly has been challenging with results not going our way all the time we have definitely seen improvements in the lads all over the field which is down to plenty of games at a high level. On Saturday we hosted Eire Og in Park South in the U16 Div 5 football league. We left ourselves too much to do despite a very good second half performance against a physically large and good football side. We had good performances all over the pitch with great work rate. If we sustain this for the hour and we will be a difficult opponent for any the four opponents we have left to face in the remaining matches of this league.

Midleton 1-10 Eire Og 4-10

Thanks again to the lads for their efforts. Best of luck to Cathal, Dylan, Eoghan, Fionn , Hugh, Kevin, Kian and Michael in the Junior Cert next week, not a bother to ye lads!!

Saturday took us to the magnificent Malow GAA Complex in glorious sunshine for our first league football outing of the season for our second team at Fe15 level. We’ve entered the lads into Fe16

Division 5 to ensure they will have plenty football games over the coming months. We expect this to be a competitive league where they will play other teams that will likely have a mix of both Fe15 and Fe16 players. After dominating the opening exchanges but only having 1 success on target, we were

dealt a sucker blow by conceding a goal after 6 minutes, Mallows first score. Mallow gained confidence from that and continued to pick off points throughout the half, with a fluency that showed it was their 4 th match of the campaign to our 1 st . At half time though, we were well in thecontest, only behind by 3 points (1-07 to 2-01). We started the second half brightly, with a rasper of a shot from Fionn Byrne hitting the roof of the net. After a couple of near misses by our fellas following the goal, Mallow responded with a goal of their own and continued to score points thereafter. With only the bare minimum to field 15 on day and therefore no opportunity to freshen things up, our lads wilted in the final 10 minutes to allow Mallow push on and add an extra gloss on the scoreline with 3 late goals. Final score - Mallow 5-16 To Midletons 4-04. Some great skill on display by our lads on the day – well done boys !!

U6 Boys

A blistering hot Saturday morning saw the U6s take to the field at Clonmult Memorial Park where we were greeted with red heads, smiles and the strong smell of sun cream. Everyone had a great morning of fun, games and hurling. This Saturday morning we will return to Gaelic football at 10am in Midleton GAA Club. Our U6 boys enjoyed a great morning of Gaelic football last Saturday morning in the club. We will be taking a break this Saturday as it’s a bank holiday and we will return Saturday week June 7th with hurling training.

Camogie

Under 7’s:

Our U7’s enjoyed a blitz at home in Park South on Saturday 24th of May. The girls had great fun and all are putting their training into practice. Well done girls.

Under 13’s:

Our U13 Bronze team played their first match of the Imokilly League last Friday 23rd May V Youghal. Both teams played strongly and even though the scoreline didn’t end with a win for us, it was an exciting game from start to finish and our girls earnt a lot from the experience.

Our U13’s have reached the U14B league semi-final and will play Aghabullogue in Park South next Sunday 1st of June at 12.30. Best of luck next Sunday girls, coaches and management.

U14

Great win for our U14’s on Tuesday 27th of May V Aghada in the U15 Imokilly League in Park South. Great work rate and some super scores and saves. After a draw at half time against a very strong wind, with great passes and a good mix of different girls scoring, they were able to come away with the win. Well done to our captain, Hazel, and thank you to our u13s who played up.

U15’s:

Our U14 girls competed against Carrigtwohill in the U15C Imokilly League at Park South in beautiful conditions on Tuesday 20th of May. The girls worked tirelessly throughout the game and always coming to the support of their teammates. Some great improvements in their skills were also evident. Wel done to Chloe our captain on the evening. In a very even and well contested game we came away with a win. There is one more game to play V Aghada. Well done to all the girls.

Cork U14’s:

Our own Aoibhinn Murphy played for Cork U14’s on Saturday 17th of May in an inter county blitz held in Limerick. Huge congratulations Aoibhinn.

Ladies Football

U16 League

Hard luck to our u16 girls who battled hard against a strong Cloyne side on Monday evening. We are improving each game so keep it up. Thank you to our U14 girls who helped us out on the evening.

U13

A fantasic achievement by our U13's in reaching the East Cork Final against Glanmire. Unfortunately we were unable to come away with the win. The girls battled all the way to the end. Thnaks to Glanmire for a great match and to the Parents for all the support from the sidelines.
