Trio Set For Finals

Ciarán Joyce, Darragh Moran and Finn Connaughton are all set for big Finals in the immediate future. After his man of the match award last Sunday, Ciarán and his senior colleagues are looking forward to the teams first provincial decider in seven years. Saturday week at the TUS Gaelic Grounds is already very much in the daily conversation - who knows what direction this rematch will take.

Best wishes to Darragh Moran as he lines out with New York in Saturday's Lory Meagher Cup Final against Cavan at 3pm in Croke Park.

Finn is also looking forward to a big day out as Cork meet Tipperay in the Celtic Challenge decider. Date and time for this game is yet to be announced.

Footballers Win Again

It's been a good few weeks for our junior footballers, as they wrapped up their league campaign with a comprehensive victory away to Midleton. Four straight wins left them comfortable in mid-table position.

It was very much one way traffic at Clonmult Memorial Park as we played into the breeze in the first half and still led at half time by 1-7 to 0-4. Billy McGann found the net on 17 minutes.

Scores flowed freely in a more ruthless second half performance with a string of points coming from open play before Darragh Cashman raised two green flags in quick succession during the last quarter. In the end the scoreboard locked at 4-21 to 1-9. - Mike O'Dwyer rounding off the goalscoring late on. Jack McGann was looking particularly sharp as she tallied twice with 2 pointers to embellish his night's work.

Next up is the championship, where action commences in mid July with a clash against Cloyne in the first of three group games.
Team v Midleton - Conor Whyte, Alex Broederick, Cathal Martin, Declan Kelly, Liam Martin, Barra O'Tuama, Dave Lawton, Tom Fleming, Darragh Joyce, Jack McGann, Mike Kelly, Charlie O'Neill, Andrew Kelly, Darragh Cashman and Billy McGann. Subs - Mike O'Dwyer and Ciaran Sice.

Intermediate Hurling

Next up for our hurlers is a home match this coming Saturday against Midleton in the RED FM Div 5 League. Originally fixed to be played in Midleton, the game is now scheduled for Paddy Walsh Memorial Park at 7.30pm. It's a vital hour in terms of league ambitions as we are still harbouring hopes of being involved at the business end of the competition - but there is no room for error from now on, if these hopes are to be kept alive.

Several clubs have similar aspirations with the league table looking very tight at present. Leaders Aghabollogue, who have 10 points are in action against fourth placed Ballyhea, (who are 8 points) on Friday evening in another key match. In between Dungourney and Milford both sit on 9 points. We begin on 7 points - the same tally as Kilbrittain, who are our next visitors in a few weeks' time. Kilbrittain themselves are also in action on Friday against Erin's Own. So after the weekend, we may or may not have a bit more clarity - somehow, I doubt it!

Abernethy Cup

Imokilly and Ballygunner renew acquaintances again in this year's Abernethy Cup Final. The date for your match diary is Monday, June 16th - 7.30pm at Paddy Walsh Memorial Park. These two sides have given us plenty of entertainment in recent years and with some quality players on both sides, another enjoyable hour is surely on the cards.

Annual Golf Classic

At the risk of repeating ourselves - well, here we go anyway - it's again time to talk golf and to renew our appeal for the support of all club members and friends ahead o our annual Classic.
The development of our facilities has been to the fore over the past number of years and quite simply there is no let up. Planning permission is currently awaited for 2 new projects ... our proposed new meeting/function room area which will also contain a kitchen and will be a huge boost to our facilities.

Likewise, the addition of a new gym will be seen as a major step forward. These new developments will cater for the needs of so many people of all ages and will be a huge investment in the future of our club. But to bring both to reality - we need the help of all our members, supporters, friends and contacts in hurling, football, camogie and ladies football.

So once again, we are making a special appeal to each and every of you to get behind this year's golf classic. You can help by participating, sourcing teams and tee boxes and contacting everyone you know to help our cause. There is no reason why our Golf Classic cannot continue its rapidly rising trajectory and be the biggest and best. Timesheet now open for July 16th, 17th and 18th.
