Glenville Edge Bishopstown in U15 League Thriller
U15 Football League
Glenville 3-12, Bishopstown 2-13
Glenville’s U15 footballers claimed a memorable victory on home soil on Wednesday evening, overcoming a talented Bishopstown side in a pulsating league encounter that went right down to the wire.
Played in ideal conditions, the opening half was a closely fought contest. Glenville settled well but found themselves trailing by a single point at the interval, 1-07 to 1-06. Their first-half goal came courtesy of Colm Murphy, whose superb finish into the top corner was the standout moment of the half.
Bishopstown resumed strongly after the break, registering several quick scores, including a well-constructed goal that extended their lead. Glenville, however, showed tremendous spirit and refused to let the game slip away. They responded with a series of fine points and a critical goal from Kallum Fahy that kept them within touching distance.
As full-time approached, Bishopstown held a narrow one-point advantage in what had become a thrilling end-to-end contest. But Glenville weren’t finished. A sweeping team move saw the ball worked upfield, where Colm Murphy once again proved the difference. Showing great composure, he rounded the goalkeeper and calmly slotted home his second goal of the evening to restore Glenville’s lead.
Bishopstown had one final opportunity to salvage the result, but Glenville’s defence stood tall, repelling the attack and sealing an impressive win against physically stronger opposition.
The result is a testament to Glenville’s resilience and teamwork, with both players and management deserving credit for an excellent all-round performance.

Glenville U16s Secure Strong Win Ahead of Mid-Season Break
Glenville U16s took on St. Colmcille's in their penultimate game of the North Cork Division 1 Football League tonight. After a disappointing loss to the same opposition in the opening round of the hurling league, the team entered the match determined to deliver a stronger performance.
While Glenville started well, a lack of defensive intensity allowed St. Colmcille’s to stay within touching distance at the break—just two points behind, though they arguably could have led.
The second half saw a marked improvement from Glenville, particularly at kick-outs, where the forwards battled hard for possession and the defence tightened up significantly. This renewed effort paid off, with Glenville pulling away to record a comprehensive 4-15 to 1-9 victory.
The win sends the team into the mid-season break on a positive note. All at the club extend best wishes to the players sitting their Junior Cert exams.
Glenville and St. Catherine’s Share the Spoils in Spirited Dads & Lads Encounter
There were smiles all around as Glenville and St. Catherine’s played out an entertaining Dads and Lads football match recently, with both sides embracing the spirit of fun, fitness, and community that defines this growing GAA initiative.
The match, played in great conditions and even better humour, saw plenty of end-to-end action, fine scores, and no shortage of friendly rivalry. While no official score was kept – true to the ethos of the Dads and Lads format – the game ended in an honourable draw, with both sides giving it their all.
The post-match hospitality was just as memorable as the match itself. Our hosts, St. Catherine’s, treated the Glenville crew to a warm welcome and a generous spread of refreshments, including a fine selection of delicious sandwiches that went down a treat after the exertions on the pitch.
A huge thanks to St. Catherine’s for their outstanding hospitality and for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of football. These events remind us of what makes the GAA special – community, camaraderie, and craic.
