Facilities

Great progress continues at Park South with a vast amount of grass seeding completed this week for our new Juvenile playing area’s and the surrounds of the 3G. A substantial section of our Walkway will be open this week to our members , why not try it out and enjoy a coffee from our onsite Coffee box….. please note that Dogs are NOT permitted in the grounds.

New lighting poles have been installed along a portion of the walkway from the Containers to the 3G and will be connected in the coming weeks.

Our Sand based pitch is looking fabulous ahead of opening towards the end of the summer, lots of preparation and maintenance is required in advance. A new watering system for this pitch is currently being installed and will be ready for use very soon.

We have a new (White) toilet block in place which is now available for use.

Thanks to Stephen Forrest who has completed a great job in Sanding, Verti draining and Fertilising all of our pitches. Also thanks to Denis Mc Sweeney and John Fenton for cutting the grass on a continuous basis and to the CES staff for lining them.

We would appeal to all users, members, players, selectors and visiting teams to clean up as you go, there are three bottle bins onsite but all other rubbish is to be taken away off site……. Please note that smoking is prohibited on our playing pitches and particularly on our 3G.

Respecting the facilities of your club is crucial to ensure that everyone can enjoy and make the most of them….. being responsible not only ensures it stays in good condition but also creates a positive atmosphere for everyone who uses it.

As we continue to grow and thrive as a Club we need the support of our wonderful members more than ever, volunteering your time, no matter how much makes a huge difference and helps our Club to run smoothly and efficiently. We’re reaching out to ask if you could kindly donate some of your time to support various activities and maintenance we have planned for the coming months. Whether you have an hour or a few hours to spare your contribution will be greatly appreciated.

If you’re interested please reach out to any Club officer.

Senior Hurling

RED FM COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 2 MIDLETON 3-28 EIRE OG 0-16

Our Senior hurlers made it five league wins from five games in front of a fine crowd at Clonmult Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon last against Eire Og. There was little between the teams in the early exchanges before a Luke O'Farrell goal and then five white flags on the bounce saw the home side lead by 1-9 to 0-3 after 17 minutes. It was 1-12 to 0-8 at the half-time whistle. Eire Og made a bright start to the second half and within eight second period minutes they got the deficit down to a goal but the Magpies quickly reset and an excellent final 20 minutes saw them pull away. Five points in a row and a Conor Lehane goal put the tie to bed and a second Luke O'Farrell goal and a flurry of points followed as Midleton ran out comfortable winners.  A special mention must go to Sean O'Sullivan who played the full 60 minutes in his first competitive start since the 2023 County Final against Sars. Next up is an East Cork derby against Erins Own in Caherlag on Tuesday week, May 20 at 7.15pm.

Scorers for Midleton: Conor Lehane 1-10 (0-5 frees), Luke O’Farrell 2-3, Pa White 0-3, Alex Quirke, Mikey Finn, Aaron Mulcahy, Sean O’Meara, Ross O’Regan 0-2 each, Eoin Moloney, Cormac Walsh 0-1 each.

RED FM COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE DIVISION 5

MIDLETON 4-14 BALLYGARVAN 1-22

Our Intermediate hurlers picked up their second win in three games as they ground out a narrow win over Ballygarvan at Clonmult Memorial Park on a sunny Saturday afternoon. There's no doubt that the story of this game was the excellence of Paul Connaughton who bagged a superb 3-6 with 3-2 coming from play.  Midleton led by 3-8 to 0-13 at half-time and looked to be on for a comfortable enough win but a late rally from Ballygarvan ensured that there was just a single point between the sides at the final whistle.  Next up is local derby against Erins Own in Caherlag on Friday week, May 16 at 7.15pm.

Scorers for Midleton: Paul Connaughton 3-6, Kian Farmer 0-4, Gary Carroll 1-0, Leo Hennessy, Evan McCarthy, Aaron Mulcahy and David Scanlon 0-1 each.

MIDLETON: Bryan Rossiter, Cathal Gunning, Adam Fay, Thomas Dunlea, Gavin Bagnell, David Scanlon, Evan McCarthy, Carthraigh Cronin, Leo Hennessy, Gary Carroll, Cian Crowley, Evan McGrath, Kian Farmer, Conor Morley, Paul Connaughton. Subs used: Christian Murphy, Dara Scanlon, Cormac O'Brien, Aaron Mulcahy.

Under 13’s:

In glorious sunshine our U13’s played their third match of their Imokilly League against a very strong Bride Rovers team in Rathcormac last Friday evening, 2nd of May The girls battled hard showing determination, skill and great attitude but the win was not theirs on this occasion.

Under 15’s:

Our U15’s were in action on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th of May as they travelled to Dungourney for an exciting Imokilly League clash, played in perfect conditions. In a tightly contested encounter, both sides showcased tremendous skill, effort and determination throughout. The match had everything with Dungourney narrowly edging the win by just a single point on the scoreline of 2-03 to 2-02.

Huge credit to all out players who gave it their all and represented the club with pride. A special mention to Rebecca, who let the team superbly as captain on the day.

Juvenile

Feile 2025

On Bank Holiday Monday we travelled to Kilworth for the group stage of this year’s Feile. We were pitted against the host Kilworth/Araglin and our near neighbour Kilta Og. Our recent meetings and even going back the years we have had massive tight battles, often coming out on the wrong side, against both teams so we were very much aware of the battles ahead. In the 1st group game we got to see both of our opponents try to get the better of each other. Kilworth got an early lead and led throughout even pulling away a bit in the end. It was thought that this was going to be a 50:50 game so Kilworth’s margin of victory was a surprise to all. All this meant was our game against Kilta Og was now even a bigger challenge. So on to field we went with our familiar opponents, knowing that they had to win to stay in it. And that’s the way they played but our lads to their credit were up for the battle also. Scores were hard got by both sides and defences playing well. With a few minutes to go we were a point up and under severe pressure. But the lads dug it out and got the last two scores to win in the end by 0-9 to 0-6.

The big job of getting through to the semi final was achieved so the next order of business was trying to top the group. Kilworth/Araglin also had the same plan in particular in their home patch. Enough though we grinded out the result against Kilta Og we seemed to play a lot freer and from the start we were definitely hurling better. At half time we were a couple of scores ahead and all we could say to the boys was keep it up and finish the job. Which, in fairness to the lads they did and came away with a 2-5 to 0-2 win. So after all the excitement we got through and will be playing the semi final in the MTU on Sunday the 11th of May. Times to be confirmed. Thanks to the vocal Midleton support and to Atif and all at Fourstar Pizza Midleton for their kind sponsorship. But mainly thanks and well done to every lad on the panel for their efforts. Well done lads, onwards now to the next stage.

Fe 15 Division 1 League

We had a useful outing the on Wednesday before the Feile in the league away against Douglas. This match definitely focused all the panel and the coaches minds prior to the upcoming Feile. While there was positives we all knew there had to be improvements for the group games in the Feile. We were lucky to get the victory against a strong Douglas side. That leaves us on top at the half way point of this competition. Well done lads again.
