JUVENILES

FÉ10S

It has been a busy few weeks for our team. We took on Carrigtwohill on the August 10 in a hurling blitz.

On August 17 we welcomed St Finbarrs to Park South for another great morning of hurling. All the games were very competitive and we got positive results in the majority of these.
We were thrilled  with all our players, they battled for every ball and played some great hurling.

FÉ12S

Our MID1 and MID2  players made the short journey to Aghada over the weekend to play two football games in the Fe12 Football Leagues against Aghada1 and Aghada 2.

Up first on Saturday were the MID1s winning their game on a scoreline of 3-5 to 2-3 and on Sunday Morning the MID2s had a great win by winning by nine points with the scoreline being 0-13 to 1-1. Well done to all!!

FÉ14S

A big well done to our Fe14s who helped East Cork to victory in the Jim Power Football Shield Final in Kilmacthomas over the weekend. They beat Carlow and Waterford and then Clare in the final. L to R: Fionn Byrne, Conor McSharry, Liam O'Sullivan, Eoghan Donovan and Mike O'Connor.

FÉ15S

Well done to Rian McCormack, Peader Egan and Ciaran O'Brien who helped the Cork City/East U15 footballers to final glory against Cavan in Tullamore on Saturday...

FÉ18S

Midleton had a comfortable win in the East Cork Division 1 U18 Football Championship in Dungourney last Wednesday night, running out victors by a score of 1-19 to 0-2 in very testing conditions.

Midleton had eight different scorers on the night in what was a great team effort in very windy conditions. St Michael's at home next...Well done lads!

Our minor hurlers travelled to Sallybrook on Wednesday night for round three of the P1 MHC and were defeated on a scoreline of 4-13 to 0-7. After wins over Inniscarra and Killeagh we still qualify for the knockout stages.

UNDER 13S

Five time All Ireland winning Limerick hurler Graeme Mulcahy kindly gave up his time and took a training session with our U-13 girls this week. Our girls had a fabulous session, learned loads and asked lots of questions.

Pictured below is Niamh Griffin presenting a gift bag from Jameson Heritage centre to Graeme Mulcahy after he took the U-13s training session in Park South.

UNDER 15s

Well done to our U-15s who played Dungourney in Park South on Wednesday night. It was a very entertaining game with great skills on display from both teams. Congratulations to Molly who was superb as captain.

UNDER 16s

Our U-16s had a challenge match versus Eire Og last Saturday in Clonmult Memorial Pak. The girls showed great determination against a tough away team. This is in preparation for the start of the U16 Championship. Best of luck girls.

LADIES FOOTBALL

UNDER 16S

Hard luck to our U16s who lost out by a very narrow margin in the East Cork ‘A’ Plate final against Bride Rovers. It was a nail-biter. The ladies put in a tremendous performance but luck and a few decisions weren’t on our side on the evening.

UNDER 8S

Our Under 8s had three great games against Erin's Own in Ballinacurra on Monday night. Our girls put all their hard work in training into practise with super displays. Well done girls.

CORK GAA CLEAN UP DAY

Cork GAA, one of the largest sporting organisations in Ireland, is proud to announce a significant voluntary clean up initiative spearheaded by its clubs and their dedicated members. This community-focused event will take place on Saturday, September 21 demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.

The event, aptly named “Cork GAA Community Clean Up Day,” will see players, coaches, officials and supporters come together to clean up various locations across Cork City and County. With a goal of collecting and properly disposing of large volumes of waste, this initiative aims to foster a cleaner, healthier environment. It is supported as part of the Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities (WERLAs) as part of their 2024 Anti-Dumping Initiative.

The date of the event is significant as it is the Saturday following World Clean Up day on Friday 20th September.

Event Details:

  • Date: 21 September
  • Time: 10 am to 2pm
  • Locations: throughout Cork city and county
  • Participants: Cork GAA, Cork Camogie and Cork LGFA members, supporters, and volunteers from the community together with support from Cork City Council and Cork County Councils

Key Highlights:

  • Environmental Impact: By removing litter from public spaces, the initiative will help protect local wildlife, improve public health, and enhance the natural beauty of our communities.
  • Community Engagement: The event encourages community participation, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility for the environment.
  • Youth Involvement: Young athletes and their families will play a significant role, teaching the next generation the importance of environmental responsibility and community service.
