Cúl Camp 2024
On Friday afternoon last, the curtain came down on Cúl Camp 2024. 2024 was our biggest camp to date, with over 245 kids in attendance and a great week was had by all. With the weather playing ball too for the most part, all of the kids participating had a fantastic week of fun. As with every camp, in thanking individuals there is always a chance of missing someone, so a big thank you to everyone & anyone who helped to organise the camp. Center to that effort were our coaches and camp assistants, we also had helpers every day who did everything from traffic management, registration’s, shop runs and lots more. Excitement peaked on Friday evening when Cork stars Dáire O’Leary, Luke Meade, Brian Roche, Eoin Roche and Emma Cleary came to visit. Thanks to you all for the time taken to chat to the kids and sign hurleys, helmets, jerseys and even boots!
A special word of thanks to our Club President Lizzie O’Leary for coming along on Friday also, she always raises the spirits. Once again Lizzie didn’t come empty handed, bringing ice cream to help everyone cool off and there was one for everyone in the audience.
We hope all the boys and girls keep playing our Gaelic Games. It’s great to stay active and healthy and you’ll make friends for life. Hopefully we’ll see you all at club trainings next few weeks and of course at Cúl Camp ‘25.
Good win for U-18’s
Well done to our minors who had a great win over Cobh yesterday evening. 2 wins in 2 games for the lads in their championship group, with Castlelyons up next on Aug 21st.
U-11’s visit Semple Stadium
Our U11’s travelled to Semple Stadium Thurles this week to take part in a Munster Council Activity Day. A great day which involved some great games of hurling against Naomh Brid, Tommevara and Moyne Templetouhy. There was great excitement when the lads got to lift a trophy from the main stand and a tour of the home dressing room. A great trip which the lads really enjoyed. Thanks to the boys coaches for organising the day.
Condolences
On behalf of everyone associated with Watergrasshill GAA, we offer our sincere condolences to the Halbert, Bracken & McCarthy families on the untimely passing of Finola Bracken. Finola served as Treasurer of Glenville Football Club in the recent past and was a great supporter of Gaelic games in the parish for many years.
May she rest in peace.
Lotto
There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 3,11,16 & 29. Lucky dip winners, who each receive €30 are Kay McEnery, Laura Murphy, John O’Connor (Meenane) and Bob/Jim/Joe & the 2 Donies. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is a whopping €14,100 and draw will take place on 26th August in The Hut Bar.
Tickets are on sale in some of the village businesses like The Hut Bar, Johnny's Shop and our Lotto stand in Ross's Centra. Tickets can also be purchased on-line via our club website (www.watergrasshillgaa.ie). The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto. The Club Lotto is a vital source of income for the running of all our teams within the Club and for future development of our facilities, so we ask you to please support it if you are in a position to do so. Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.
