Club Supporters Wall Fundraising Drive

As you may know, we are raising funds for the development of our club facilities. Today, I am reaching out to you with a special request.

Our club is more than just a place where we play hurling and football. It is a community, a family, and a platform where dreams take flight. We’ve shared victories, losses, laughter, and tears on our pitches. Now, it’s time for us to come together and ensure that our club continues to be a place for future generations to experience these priceless moments.

We are embarking on a fundraising initiative aimed at developing our facilities. This isn’t just about creating better physical infrastructure. It’s about building an environment that nurtures talent, fosters growth, and inspires everyone who steps through our gates.

If you are a current player, a past player, a parent, a supporter, or if you have loved ones that play or played for the club, then we need your help!

The whole purpose of the Supporter's Wall is to raise funds to help with club development, in particular flood lighting and field development.

Please click on this link https://t.ly/rTyDe where you will have the opportunity to Buy your Brick.

You can also opt to pay in 5 x €50 installments.

We are excited to see how we can transform our club together.

Thanks for your support.

Our sincere thanks to our sponsors and participants who had a mighty day last Thursday at Youghal Golf Club for our annual Club Golf Classic.

We have to mention our team of organisers led by John Ward and including Joe, Declan, Ned and Gerry, who did a fantastic job before and on the day.

We particularly appreciate everyone's input and participation at a critical time in our club's development as we look forward to much needed investment and modernisation of our facilities.

Eochaill 2-16 Cloughduv 1-11

Youghal travelled to Church Rd recently for the start of this year's Championship.

Youghal played against the breeze in the first half. Having started well, we found ourselves 3 points down after 10 mins, before our first score, a free from James Murray. The team were hurling well but not taking our chances, and both teams traded points with nothing between the teams heading for the break, but a sideline ball for Youghal wasn't cleared properly and this led to a goal for Cloughduv. Half time Youghal 0-7 Cloughduv 1-7.

Led by our half back line, Youghal started the 2nd half well and points from James Murray, Devon O Donoghue and Oisín Hill had us level after a few minutes.

Bill Cooper, who was a major injury doubt before the start, was driving the lads on.

A long ball from a James Murray free ended up in the back of the net following a touch from Devon and we were going well at this stage (we're going to have to look at the video to see if there was a touch). The defending was heroic, especially from the lads making their first championship start, Oisín Terry Foley and Ian Hehir along with the experienced defence.

A second goal, from sub Cian Coleman Butler, put daylight between the sides and from here to the end we were well on top and held out for the win.

Final score Eochaill 2-16 Cloughduv 1-11.

There was much joy at the final whistle as this is our first win in the first round for a good number of years. The next game is against Mayfield on Saturday 24th Aug @ 5pm in Cloyne.

The team will have to play every bit as good, if not better, to get over them.

Team:

Ritchie Cunningham, Ian Hehir, Jonathan Ormond, Oisín Terry Foley, Conor Spillane, Cúlann Geary, Micheal Breathnach, Nigel Roche, Oisín Hill (0-1), Bill Cooper (0-3), James Murray (0-6, 5pts f), James O'Mahony, Seàn Smiddy, Brett Moloney (0-1), Capt;Devon O Donoghue (1-5, 0-3 f).

Subs Used:

Cian Coleman Butler (1-0) for Oisín Hill.

Jake Cooper for Conor Spillane

Ruairi McMahon for Seàn Smiddy

Bobby Nicholson for Nigel Roche.

Sincere thanks to Ken Hennessy of Hennessy's Bar who has sponsored tops for our first teams again this year and to our main Sponsor BROOKE'S SUPER VALU for their continued support.

The club are also hosting Cloyne and Fermoy in the Senior A Hurling Championship on Sunday 25th Aug at 4pm.

Report from Alan Hennessy. Thanks Alan.
