Last minute one-point Championship loss for Glenville
Glenville 1-10
Cullen 0-14

A last minute point by Cullen saw Glenville’s Premier Juniors lose their opening Championship match by the narrowest of margins in Doneraile on Saturday.
Cullen started well and opened with two points in the first three minutes before Ciaran O’Leary opened the Glenville account with a well struck goal in the fourth minute. Cullen struck back quickly with four unanswered points before Ciaran O’Leary and Eddie Delahunt got a point each in three minutes to bring it back to a one-point game in the 19th minute. Cullen continued to push hard putting up another three points with Ciaran O’Leary adding another Glenville point to see Glenville trail at half-time by three points on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-9.
Glenville regrouped during the break and got into the game from the half-time throw-in and in six minutes, scored four points in a row without reply (two by Ciaran O’Leary and a point each from Liam Foley and Josh Cooke). With 36 minutes on the clock, Glenville had a one-point advantage and from here to the final whistle on the 64th minute, it remained a one-point game with Glenville and Cullen each scoring a point after each other (two more points from Josh Cooke and another Ciaran O’Leary point). All square at 59 minutes with both sides adding four points each, both sides pushed for the winner and with three minutes of added time played, Cullen got the final point of the game to see them win by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-11.
Glenville did a superb job in defence and will rue their slow scoring start but will learn a lot from this game for their next Championship match against Ballydesmond.

U14s maintain unbeaten league record

Last Friday night saw our under 14 team maintain their unbeaten streak in the league following a hard-fought victory over Cobh.

We knew coming down to Cobh was going to be a tough task as we were up against an opposition that had beaten us in the Championship semi-final only a few weeks ago.

Credit to our lads from the minute the ball was thrown in they did what was asked of them and after a very competitive

Glenville finished off their league campaign with a defeat to Carrigtwohill on Saturday afternoon last in Glenville. A close first half had Carrig in front by 1 point at halftime. Carrig upped the ante in the second half and ran out deserving winners. Well done to our lads who are after a busy schedule of games recently and also have qualified for the final of this competition. Well done lads
