Castlelyons Notes (11th Jun)
- Jun 11,2024
Start Made on New Stand
Foundations were put in last week for our new stand. This is the start of another big project that will take a at least a couple of months to complete. We hope to be able to sit over 200 fans when finished. The track machine spent a day to dig out the foundations and a couple loads of concrete later it is now time to leave it set before the block work starts. Well done to all the volunteers who have helped so far. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
Seniors Narrowly Lose in Challenge
We welcomed Killeagh to Castlelyons last week for a challenge game which turned into a very enjoyable ru out. Killeagh play in the Senior A grade like ourselves but are in a different group so it was good to get a game against some quality opposition as the league begins to finish up. The visitors started better and raced into a 5 points to 1 lead. The Castlelyons defence started to dominate though with Colm Spillane and Colm Barry coming to the fore. Jack in goals was outstanding with his distribution and picked out Keith O’Leary on 3 occasions that led to well worked points. Leon Doocey was proving a hand full inside and scored 1-03 on the day. His goal was an excellent individual score as he won a high ball and went directly to bury the ball to the net. Castlelyons led by 8 points with 20 minutes to go but Killeagh finished the stronger as substitutions were made and managed to claw victory from the claws of defeat. They won on a score line of 1-22 to 1-21. The Senior hurlers now have a well deserved 3 week break before their next scheduled league game against Ballinhassig on the 29th June.
Lotto
Numbers drawn on 10th June were 2, 4, 8 and 18. There was no winner of the Jackpot. Next week’s Jackpot is €20,000. Make sure to buy your ticket to be in with a chance to win.
