Junior Bs secure semi-final slot

Glenville 3-13 (22)
Glanmire 2-4 (10)

A very strong performance by the Glenville Junior Bs on Monday evening in Glenville saw them beat Glanmire by 12 points and secure a League Semi-final slot.
Eddie de la Hunt opened the Glenville account in the first minute with a well-co-ordinated point worked from the throw-in. Darragh O’Bric followed with Glenville’s first goal in the second minute. Ahead by four points, Glenville got their second goal in the third minute, but it was deemed a square ball and disallowed. Ciaran Linehan finished a well worked pass from Darragh O’Bric in the fourth minute to see Glenville lead 2-1 to no score in the first five minutes.
Glanmire tried hard to score but the six backs of Shane Clarke, Diarmuid McCarthy, Paudie Cotter, Donnacha Forde, Pearse Moloney and Davin Sullivan with keeper Niall Sullivan played blanket defence and turned Glanmire over feeding the ball up the field with some well-worked hand passing.
Callum O’Mahony scored his first point in the 8th minute with Ciaran Linehan converting a well-struck free in the 12th minute. Darragh O’Bric’s quick running and movement was making life difficult for Glanmire, and he scored a well-kicked point in the 14minute. Colin O’Keeffe, playing a dominant centre forward position was influential in creating linked play for Glenville and scored a well-crafted point in the 18th minute before Callum O’Mahony’s high energy running and work rate saw him score his second point on the 21st minute.
Glanmire finally opened their account in the 22nd minute and followed with a second point within a minute before Colin O’Keeffe added a point for Glenville in the 25th minute, followed by a great point by Aaron Collins in the 28th minute and the highly influential Eddie de la Hunt secured Glenville’s final score of the first half with a point, to see Glenville lead with a commanding lead at half time of 2-9 to 0-2.
Glanmire secured the first score of the second half with a point in the 33rd minute, before the in-form Colin O’Keeffe replied with a Glenville point within a minute. Glanmire narrowed the margin with a goal on the 36th minute and Glenville made some tactical substitutions, introducing the experience of Mike Murphy, Paudie Cahill, Brian Cosgrave, Denis Buttimer and Eoin Fitzgerald to manage the game. Josh Cooke, who had played a huge part in midfield scored two points in succession in the 43rd and 50th minute. Man of the match, Pearse Moloney who made some great blocks throughout the game scored a point in the 52nd minute, before Ciaran Linehan scored a well struck goal into the top left corner in the 55th minute.
Glanmire kept fighting to the end scoring a point in the 56th minute and were rewarded with a penalty which they converted on the 60th minute to see the game finish 3-13 to 2-4.
