Happy Birthday Lizzie

Last weekend saw a fantastic occasion in Watergrasshill when the community gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of our president Lizzie O’Leary.

The First Fruits Arts centre in Watergrasshill was awash with friends & neighbours, young and old from far and wide joining to wish Lizzie a Happy Birthday.

Lizzie is the heart and soul of the community in Watergrasshill and we were delighted to be part of such a wonderful occasion. Don O’Riordan, Niall O’Riordan & Jenni Fouhy dropped in to wish Lizzie all the best.

Happy Birthday Lizzie and thank you everything you continue to do for the community in Watergrasshill.

Good Win for U13’s

Our U13s had a good win on the road this on Friday evening in Midleton. A lot of good hurling played throughout the game by the hill who were on top from the off with solid defending and good attacking play and in midfield.

The lads kept the game moving with some quick passing and playing good ball into our forwards. With 2 wins from 2 the lads are showing good form.

U12’s continue good form

A battling display away to a good Cobh side on Saturday for our U12 boys in the grading league. Some excellent work rate and defending in the first half saw the hill behind by a point at half time.

The lads clicked into gear in the second half. Some lovely hurling and score taking on display. The hill emerged victorious at the end after a very good performance. Well done boys & keep up the good work.

U16’s just fall short

A great battling performance from the Hill in Carrigaline on Saturday evening, saw us come up short to a strong Carrigaline side.

Behind 1-11 to 0-1 at halftime, boys had still put in a great shift to keep a physically stronger Carrigaline side at bay. Carrigaline with mostly U16 players and many on the P1 panel, our young group of players showed great fight in the first half. At halftime we asked them for more of the same, and boy did they respond. They were dogs in the second half and outscored Carrigaline 1-7 to 0-3pts. A really great effort from the lads, with just the 15 players, every one of them put in a great shift. They tore into our hosts and deserved that second half win with their performance. A loss but one with far more positives than negatives to be taken. Fair play to them all a mighty shift put in, that will stand to them with Féile on the horizon. A big thanks to U14 player Pa O’Sullivan who lined out and played his part.

U14’s win on the road

A good win on the road on Monday for our U14 boys. In what was a high scoring game in the glorious sunshine, the lads started the game with a goal from Danny followed by points from Robbie & James. A few goals conceded but our goalie Darragh pulled off some great saves throughout the game and his puckouts we’re finding his men all the time. Working hard in the defence, working the ball out and setting up scores for our forwards where Shane Krol hit two great goals and James O’Mahoney another after great work by Jack O’Sullivan. So in all a great work out for the boys who over the last 5 days played 4 hurling games and everyone getting plenty game time.

The game finished Watergrasshill 4-13 V 5-6 Courcey Rovers.
