U-13 Boys Start Season
A good start to the year for the our U13 boys in League 2 on Saturday on a lovely sunny day. Always a tough game expected against Carrigtwohill and this was no different. Some great hurling on display from both sides and was great to come away with the win . Well done to the boys on their hard work and the great attitude shown throughout the game. Watergrasshill 3-7 v 2-6 Carrigtwohill.
Meanwhile, in League 1, in what was an entertaining game of hurling we hosted Shandrum Sunday morning. With some great skill and score taking on show but most of all the lads showed great work rate in getting in hooks & blocks and turning over ball . In the end a few late frees conceded earned the visitors the draw, next up is the Glen away in early May. Watergrasshill 3-10 v 4-7 Shandrum.
U-14 Season Opener
Our under 14s had a great win over Ballygiblin on Friday evening in Mitchelstown. Fantastic performance from everybody with some great points from Darren Cahill and 4 goals from Pa Sullivan and with Ronan Lehane cleaning everything up in the back line the lads played a very mature game after coming back from behind at half time. Thanks also to Johnny for reffing much appreciated. And a special mention for Danny Murphy who put in a performance that was absolutely outstanding, with his motivation being his cousin on the other team not getting one up on him. Juniors Register 1st point
Our junior hurlers registered their first point of the season on Monday night, with a hard earned draw away to Youghal. With neither side ever dominating, it was a ding-dong battle throughout, with the lead changing hands many times. We looked to have left the point behind us, however the lads dug deep to tie the game – a well earned share of the spoils. Youghal 3-16 v 2-19 Watergrasshill.
Intermediates share spoils
As with our Juniors, our intermediates also shared the spoils on Sunday evening against Dungourney. A game which the lads will feel they should have won, however a sluggish start left us trailing 0-03 to no score after just 3 minutes. Once the lads settled, the sides traded scores until the 15th minute where we rattled the net to lead 0-5 to 1-3. This was swiftly followed by 3 points in 3 minutes to lead 0-5 to 1-6 after 18 minutes. Once again, the sides exchanged points until our second goal of the game but us six ahead 0-8 to 2-8 after 27 minutes. At half time we led 0-10 to 2-9. Another goal, just after the resumption had the score 0-11 to 3-9 , a 7 point lead, however a series of unanswered scores from Dungourney and a goal on 22 minutes left the score 1-18 to 3-11 and the lead had quickly dissolved. It was point for point in the closing stages and although the game finished tied, our lads were disappointed not to close it out. A great performance throughout, augurs well for the coming games and the work the lads have done in the off season. Dungourney 1-20 v 3-14 Watergrasshill.
Lotto
There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot this week. Numbers drawn were 8,17,20 & 27. Lucky dip winners, who each receive €30 each are Oliver Manley, Eileen Lane, Ciarán Moroney & Eilish O’Neill. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is €11,550 and draw will take place on 29th April in The Hut Bar.
