It was a busy few days for our Fé12s, we played our first competitive games on Saturday last in Football in St Colmans Community College.

Our first game of the day for our MID2s  was against Glanmire where we lost by only a single goal. The lads played with great spirit and put in a great performance and just came up slightly short on the day. Final Score was 1-4 to 2-4.

Our Second Football  game of the day for our MID1s was a local derby against Aghada 1 where we had a very convincing win.

From Start to finish the lads were excellent getting some great scores throughout the game. Final  Score 6-11 to 2-7.

Our MID1 lads travelled to Mahon  (St Michael's GAA) to take on Blackrock 1 in our First Hurling Competitive game of the year.

CAMOGIE

UNDER 9S

Our U9s played some great matches last Sunday morning in a blitz in Musgrave Park. The girls played Erin’s Own and Grenagh. Well done girls.

UNDER 12S

Both of our U12 teams played their first league games of the season against hosts Carrigaline on Saturday morning, April 13th. It was a lovely sunny morning and despite soft conditions underfoot from the recent bad weather, the girls played two very challenging matches against strong opponents. It was great to get back to matches after so long and the girls did great and gave strong performances in both matches - particularly showing strong improvements in areas such as hand passing, taking their allowed number of steps to get out of tough situations and taking shots at goal from well out the pitch. We are very proud of them and are looking forward to our matches next weekend when both our U12 teams travel in different directions to play Tracton and Kildorrery respectively in their next fixtures of the League.

UNDER 13S

Our U13 (black) team got their Imokilly League campaign off to a flying start with an impressive win over local rivals Killeagh. In what were tough conditions at Clonmult Memorial Park the girls excelled all over the pitch and pulled away for a comfortable win in the end. Sars up next for this talented bunch of girls.

UNDER 14S

Midleton 1-11 Banteer 3-6

Our U14s made their first league game of the season I North Cork on the very impressive Banteer Community Sportfield 4G pitch against Banteer on Sunday morning. Well done to all the player and to Edel for captaining the team. Our player played with great skill, passion and determination against a very good banter side. We came out second best on this occasion by the closest of margins in the cracking camogie match. the team can take a lot of positives from their performance.

UNDER 15S

Congratulations to our U15s who got their U16 County League campaign off to a winning start in Clonakilty last Sunday afternoon. the girls played some great camogie in tough conditions on a very heavy pitch.

Congratulations to Roisin our captain for the U15s V Clonakilty.

The very best of luck to our U15 girls who will compete in Féile this weekend. The girls have been drawn in a group with Inniscarra, Eire Og and Kilbrittan-Timoleague. A huge thanks to Casterock Homes for their very generous sponsorship of our Féile gear!

JUNIOR TEAMS

Lilly Grant League Friday April 12th in Midleton V Valley Rovers

The Lilly Grant team recorded their first win in their second Lilly Grant League game. After a slow first half where we trailed by four points the girls really took off in the second half and found their goal scoring touch. Goals from the ever busy Hannah Power, another great finish from Jade Fitgerald, to follow up her cracker against Bishopstown the previous week and two goals from the industrious Rachel Ryan saw us turn the four point deficit at the half into a four point win at the finish.

Another great battling performance by this group  and great skills on show as well. Sorcha Cronin and Pippa Hennessey were solid all through, Elle McManus excelled in the fullback line and Kate Saunderson was superb at full back and again at midfield in the second-half scoring a fabulous point to cap off a great team performance. Well done all and it's off to Courcey Rovers  for the next outing in this league.

MIDLETON: Elle McManus, Kate Saunderson (0-1), Beth Ryan, Caoimhe Cronin, Pippa Hennessey, Meghan Wallis, Sorcha Cronin (0-1f), Lucy Kenneally, Ciara McGrath, Rachel Ryan (2-1), Hannah Power(1-0), Roisin O'Callaghan, Rayanna Power, Jade Fitzgerald (1-0), Tia Wallace, Rebecca Ryan, Emma Sullivan, Lilly Kelly.

Premier Junior League, in Rostellan V Aghada

Midleton 2-10 Aghada  0-7

This was the first outing for our Junior Premier Team and their first League game at this level since promotion from the Junior B ranks last year.

Against a very experienced, strong and physically tough Aghada outfit the girls were magnificent  and fully deserved their nine point win. Despite losing three girls to injury during the game everyone stuck to their task. Some great defending , holding the opposition to just four points from play for the hour, combined with some excellent scores saw us ease to victory after being level five points each at the half.

After Kate O'Sullivan’s great finish midway through the second half we never looked back and Sadhbh Beausang’s late goal put a deserved gloss on the scoreline. Hopefully the injuries won't be too serious and we can look forward to our next outing Versus Cobh with plenty of confidence . Well done to everyone who travelled on the night.

MIDLETON: Jill Connaughton, Leah Hogan, Molly Beausang, Laura Goulding,  Kate Saunderson , Beth Ryan, Caoimhe Cronin, Pippa Hennessey, Meghan Wallis, Yvonne Abernethy (0-2f )Sorcha Cronin (0-1), Abbie Foley (0-01f), Sadhbh Beausang (1-1), Jodie Keegan O'Connell, Kate O'Sullivan (1-1), Rachel Ryan (0-2), Hannah Power, Roisin O'Callaghan, Rayanna Power, Jade Fitzgerald , Tia Wallace, Lucy Wallis, Aoife Fitzgerald, Lilly Kelly.
