Academy Return

This week sees the much awaited return of our underage academy for our U-6 and U-7 boys, slightly later than planned due to the amount of rain we’ve had during March.

The boys will play both hurling and football together at 9:30am on Saturday mornings and 6:30pm on Wednesday evenings with both sessions taking place on the Astro in Glenville.

The academy is a great chance for the kids to have fun, make new friends and burn off a little energy so all are welcome, especially those who are new to the parish. The academy focus is on fun, friendship and fundamentals so there’s sure to be great energy and excitement.

The academy is the first step for many kids in a lifelong association with Gaelic Games, so come along and join the fun.

Big day for Robbie

Congratulations to Robbie O’Leary who has been selected to represent Glenville National School in the Cork Primary Games team. They will play before the cork Waterford game on April 21stin Walsh Park. We wish Robbie the very best of luck and we’re all very proud of his achievement, very well deserved and a great honour for his family, his school and his club.

Coach the coaches

In Watergrasshill GAA, Watergrasshill Ladies Camogie & Football and Glenville GAA, we are committed to not just the development and promotion of Gaelic games but the promotion of youth athletic development. In helping young people to learn the enjoyment and benefit of movement and athleticism, we hope to foster a lifelong love for sport which in turn will help them to enjoy life to their maximum potential, whatever that may be. To that end, we were delighted to recently partner with Noel Mc Carthy and Wayne Sheehan from “Surf The Curve Movement Skills Classes” who hosted a Coaching workshop for the coaches from our 3 clubs. Noel and Wayne, through Surf The Curve, are doing great work in inclusive multi-sport activities for people of all abilities and they shared a great session with our underage coaches. Building fun, inclusive and beneficial sessions where fundamental movement skills are reinforced is a key facet of the STC program and our coaches definitely enjoyed the session and took away some key learnings. Thanks to Surf The Curve and our coaches for their time in attending the workshop.

Lucky dip winners, who each receive €30 each are Audrey & Dave Murphy, Ber O’Callaghan, Noreen Clancy (Kilmallock) and Bob/Tim/Joe & 2 Donies c/o The Hut. Congrats to you all. Next week's jackpot is €11,250 and draw will take place on 15th April in The Hut Bar.

Tickets can also be purchased on-line via our club website (www.watergrasshillgaa.ie). The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters of the Watergrasshill GAA Club Lotto. The Club Lotto is a vital source of income for the running of all our teams within the Club and for future development of our facilities, so we ask you to please support it if you are in a position to do so. Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.

Rebels Bounty Update

Congratulations to Tadgh Fitzgerald who won €250 in the March draw for the Rebel’s Bounty. Congratulations also to our monthly internal draw winners who were Claire & Willie O’Leary (January), Eric Daly (February) and Shane McCarthy (March). Thank you to everyone who supported the Rebels Bounty draw again this year, a key fundraiser for our club as we continue to strive to develop improved facilities for the benefit of our community.
