Thank You All

A final word of thanks again to all of you who supported our Know Your Sport Fundraiser.  It certainly will give us a different view on the summer ahead as we watch so many varied events with a wider interest.  Joe Stack and Keith Moran were the driving forces behind the venture, along with Elaine Bowens who coordinated the incomings..  We wish everyone the very best of luck in the competition.

Hurling Action

Game 3 of the division 5 league took our intermediate team to the south east division on Sunday where hosts Ballygarvan ran out winners by 2-19 to 0-19.  Played in blustery conditions, Ballygarvan pushed on before half time to lead by 0-12 by 0-6, after holding just a one point advantage at 0-5 to 0-4 by the end of the first quarter.
Their two goals arrived after the break and were crucial as Castlemartyr had laso more than doubled their interval tally by this stage, but it was the hosts who were in control leading by 2-14 to 0-13.  Points were more less balanced out there after leaving those two green flags as the decisive factor in what was our first defeat of the season.

It means going into our next match at home to Aghabollogue on Sunday week April 21st, there is a three way tie at the top of the table.  Watergrasshill and Dungourney have maximum points from their two outings, whilst Castlemartyr have played a game more.

Team v Ballygarvan - Derek Bowens, Cathal Martin, Jamie Stack, Liam Martin, Darragh Joyce, Brian Lawton, Mike Cosgrave, Ciaran Sice, Darragh Leahy,
Jack McGann, Barry Lawton, Charlie O'Neill, Billy McGann, Eoghan Martin, Andrew Kelly.
Sub sused - Mike Kelly, Dave Lawton, David Lynch and Caire Coughlan.

Junior Hurling

The weather has dominated many conversations in recent weeks and has been taking it's toll on the domestic fixture list.  Our JHL1 game in Carrigtwohill tonight is the latest victim after another day of heavy rain.

Football Action

As it stands, with an improvement on the way from mid week, the hope will be that the JFL1 match away to Carrigtwohill on Sunday next at 2.30pm might get the green light.  Carrig' had a 3-10 to 0-6 win over Erin's Own in their only game so far, whilst Castlemartyr lost out on their away trip to Carraig na bhFear.  Sunday's match is the second of the short five game campaign.

New Scoreboard On The Way

Delighted to say that there is a new electronic scoreboard on the way to Paddy Walsh Memorial Park in the next few weeks - it's the latest addition to our venue in centenary year.  A massive thanks to Cliffiord's Butchers and Bar for their sponsorship.  The Cliffiord family have been huge supporters of the club for many many years and we are delighted to be partners with them again in this latest development. Please shop local and support our loyal sponsors.

A quick note with the Ballintotis 4 Mile Road Race just over a week away on Thursday April 18th.  Many club members have already signed up to take part, but with in the region of 1,000 competitors set to be on the start line, all available help with stewarding duties would be greatly appreciated on the night.    Please message John on 086 8778182 if you can spare an hour or two.
