County Football League D5:
Glenville 1-7 Kinsale 2-8.
Our Premier Juniors gave a strong and spirited performance in Kinsale on Sunday. The team played really well scoring first with an excellent point from Cathal Fitzgerald. Kinsale responded with two points from frees before Colin O’Keeffe replied with two points from frees for Glenville. Kinsale scored a goal on the 13th minute with Liam Foley pointing for Glenville on the 19th minute. Kinsale scored another point from a free before Eanna Fitzgerald made a great run and excellent pass to set up Liam Foley for Glenville’s goal on the 28th minute. Michael O’Driscoll scored a superb point on the 35th minute to see Glenville lead at half-time on a scoreline of 1-5 to 1-3.

The second half gave Kinsale the wind advantage and helped them put up five points (four frees and a mark) before Glenville recorded their first score of the second half with another super point from Michael O’Driscoll. It was still a close two point game up to the 56th minute before Kinsale got their second goal and Colin O’Keeffe converted got his is third point from frees on the 62nd minute. Time was against Glenville and lost the game by four points.
There was a lot of positives from the game – Kinsale scored no points from play and some great, better defending and attacking and some excellent personal performances from the Glenville players. However Glenville had to use three of their four subs in the first 22 minutes due to injuries and this significantly impacted on the ability of Glenville to bring fresh energy into the game in the second half.
Scorers: Colin O’Keeffe 0-3 (3f); Liam Folet 1-1; Michael O’Driscoll 0-2; Catha Fitzgerald 0-1.

Squad: Dave Quirke, Pearse Moloney, Donal Sheehan, Paudie Cotter, Davin Sullivan, Joe Carver, Josh Cooke, Michael O’Driscoll, Rob McKenna, Cathal Fitzgerald, Eddie de la Hunt, Colin O’Keeffe, Liam Foley, Eanna Fitzgerald, Tom Dinan, Mark O’Riordan, Shane Clarke, Paudie Cahill, Denis Buttimer:
Management: Roy Leahy, Pat McHugh, Ger Cahill.

U16C
Glenville 7-02 - Duarigle Gaels 3-15
Glenville started their U16C3 campaign in Cullen, putting in a very strong performance but in the end losing by one point after a last kick of the game goal from Duarigle Gaels.
Down by five at halftime (1-9 to 2-1), the boys put in a great shift against a very strong wind in the first half. In the second half Glenville came out of the blocks with intent and we were four points up within 10 minutes and led from there right up to the end. They played lovely football, using the ball to great effect and the movement for each other was excellent. We had only 14 players so no subs to bring on versus our opposition’s four fresh pair of legs. The pitch was very heavy and the strong wind didn’t help. The boys put in a great shift and every one of them worked their socks off. Final score 3-15 Duarigle Gaels to Glenville’s 7-2. Onwards and upwards.

U14

Glenville 04-12 - Carrigtwohill 06-01

Our under 14s got their rebel og division 1 league campaign off to a winning start with a five point victory over Carrigtwohill.
Last year, these two sides met in the under 13 final with Carrigtwohill emerging winners.
It was great to get out on the field again after a number of games had been previously postponed due to the weather.
Our lads worked the ball well in the first half and went in ahead by just a point.
The second half was very nip and tuck as we upped the tempo and managed to pull away on the home straight.

U14 C

Glenville 05-18 - Midleton 03-11

On Monday afternoon last our under 14 C3 team welcomed Midleton to Glenville for this opening round league fixture.
For many of these players, it was their first time playing full competitive football.
The C3 league gives clubs the option of entering a 2nd team with five extra matches guaranteed.
Our lads were up for the challenge and played some great football . By half time, we were in front by six points.
We knew Midleton were always going to come back, with five minutes left, there were only five points between the sides.
But a late flurry of scores by our lads ensured Glenville would be victors on this occasion.
Team: Luke Ryan, Eoin O'Mahony, James McDermett, Jack Sheehan, Max Comway, Joe Connolly, Robbie O'Leary, Alex Downey, Alex Magner, Sean Dunlea, James Forde, Dara O Driscoll, Alan Smith, Danny Murphy, Shane Kroll.
