Glenville Notes (26th Mar)

  • Mar 26,2024

Combined Glenville and Fermoy Dads and Lads teams who played recently.

U18
Our U18s were out on Sunday at home to Kilworth Araglen in the second round of the North division league. We got a point on the board after two minutes from Ciarán, but then conceded 1-4 without reply before getting a few points on the board before half time to come back into the game, going into the break behind on a scoreline of 0-4 to 1-5. We pressed hard in the second half and got ourselves into a position where with six minutes left we were just one point behind, but a goal and a point in quick succession from Kilworth Araglen put a halt to our run and although we got two points back and had a number of chances we lost out by three points in the end, 0-12 to 2-9. On reflection we had several chances early in the second half where we could have done better, and we never really took advantage of a late black card, but Kilworth Araglen were that bit sharper on the day and we could have no complaints at the end. So, two games played and two narrow defeats, but each day is a learning opportunity, there was plenty to take away from the performance, both good and bad and hopefully we can put those lessons to good use as the season progresses. On a day where a lot of performances were below par, Ciarán’s eight points were a highlight and Mike coming forward from wing back to score two points was impressive. It was great to see the depth in the squad also with the full panel getting an extended run and each of the substitutes making an impression when they came on.
