MIDLETON TOGETHER MUSIC FESTIVAL

After a couple of weeks of planning by a very committed organising committee, the Midleton Together Music Festival took place at Midleton GAA Club on Sunday last and what a day it was.

The tickets sold out early in the week and a huge crowd turned out to support the families that were affected by the recent floods in our town.

There are so many Thank Yous that I'm sure to leave people out so I'll keep it general.

First of all a huge thank you to all the superb artists who gave their time and talents for free on the day and entertained the big crowds superbly.

Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and who turned up on the day to support this great event.

Thanks to everyone who helped put this event toghether in a short space of time. Great job guys.

Thanks to everybody who helped out on the day, stewards, sound and lighting people, DJs, MCs, bar staff etc etc.

And thanks to anybody who provided equipment, staff etc, it is much appreciated.

Thanks to RED FM for teaming up with us to promote this event.

Thanks too to all who supported our Go Fund Me Page which ran in conjunction with the gig.

JUVENILES

FÉ13S

Our last outing for the year was a C3 Football league cup final v Erins own.

The lads were looking to repeat the C3 Hurling league cup final win last month v Ballincollig.

A league topping finish gave us home advantage, with St Colmans being the selected venue.

Heavy ground with some surface water meant tough conditions for both teams.

Midleton took an early lead and despite a good second half fight back from Erins own, managed to hold their lead and take the game on a score line of  Midleton 4-7 Erins Own 3-2. Well done boys.

Midleton captain, Conor Power, receiving the trophy from Michael Carroll.

FÉ16S

Midleton captain Josh Foley with the Youghal captain and referee before the game on Saturday.

On Saturday morning last, we began our U-16 P1 hurling championship campaign in Clonmult Memorial Park. On a rain-soaked morning we took on Youghal for a place in the semi-final of this year’s championship.

Missing several key players through injury, we fought extremely hard in tough conditions. Our opponents started brighter and were clearly looking to make up for the league defeat earlier in the year. On the 15 minute mark it was three points apiece, with Nicky Coughlan, Josh Foley, Senan Carroll leading the forwards charge.

A determined Youghal battled hard but could not find a way through our solid defence lead by Eoin Ahern, Matthew McSweeney, Darragh Cronin to mention a few. As the half-finished, we went in the bare minimum in front, 0-6 to    0-5.

On the resumption it was our opponents who struck for a goal, despite the best efforts of Conor Finn. It was game on. Our workrate increased and with in a few minutes thanks to good work from Josh Hogan and Sean Crowley in the middle of the field, Josh Foley manged to squeeze the ball past a resolute Youghal defence to put us back in front.

With scores hard to come by for us, we kept moving forward as Ryan Fitzsimmons, Cian Stack grew more into the game. The backs to were busy with Lochlann Stewart, Rian O Driscoll and Max Murphy battling for every ball to keep Youghal at bay. As the final whistle blew we had a hard earned victory on a scorline of 1-9 to 1-7. We now play Sars in a semi-final with the date, venue and time to be confirmed.

FÉ17S

Our minor footballers are in action this coming Sunday when they take on St. Colmcilles in the Rebel Og East Fé17 Football Championship Division 1 Shield Final in Carrignavar at 12 noon. Best of luck lads.

LADIES FOOTBALL

UNDER 10

Our U-10s finished up their season with a fantastic session in Pairc Uí Chaoimh followed by some delicious hot chocolate. Thanks to the U-10 coaches for organising. See you all in the new year. Enjoy the break!

BEST OF LUCK

ORLAGH FARMER'S KENYA TRIP

Later this month, a group of Irish GAA stars (including our own Orlagh Farmer) and musicians will travel to Kenya as part of a Warriors for Humanity campaign in aid of Self Help Africa.

This group of GAA players will take part in only the second ever All-Star, Male and Female game in Africa. The target is for each participant to raise €10,000 by November. The goal is to plant one million trees in Africa in partnership with Self Help Africa who have spent decades working closely with local farmers, communities and experts to be the best at what they do. Each tree we plant will represent a livelihood for an African family.

'An integral part of the project is to train farmers on managing their trees for this purpose. As a result, we know that the trees are looked after and cared for over the years. We want the impact of our work to be felt for many years to come, benefitting future generations and leaving a legacy we can all be proud of.

ADULT CLUB

UNDER 21 FOOTBALL

Our U-21 A Football team opened their championship campaign on Sunday morning last at Clonmult Memorial Park against Aghada in front of a big crowd.

Aghada, who were already after a game in this championship, having drawn with Cobh, were much quicker out of the blocks than our lads who were having their first game of the season, and they raced into a 2-4 to 0-0 lead after 17 minutes.

Not the start we wanted but in fairness to our lads they dug in and never let the lead increase from that margin from here to the final whistle. Points from brothers Evan (2) and Liam McGrath saw the half-time score read 2-5 to 0-3 in Aghada's favour.

We got game time into a host of players and three second-half points from Sean McSharry saw the final score read, Aghada 3-7 to Midleton's 0-6.

MIDLETON: Ben O'Neill, Adam Fay, Darragh Codd, Ben Keneally, Jack Fitzgerald, Ciarmhac Smyth, Evan McCarthy, Brion Saunderson (Captain), Tadhg Bohan, Cathal Beausang, Liam McGrath, Evan McGrath, Nicky Daly Hayes, Gavin Reddy, Mikey Finn. Subs used: Tadhg O'Leary Hayes, Daniel Garde, Paddy Walsh, Colin Sunderland, Sean McSharry, Daire Mooney, Callum O'Brien and Darragh Egan.

This team travelled to Sallybrook on Wednesday night for their second game in a few days to take on Glanmire. The final scoreline was: Glanmire 5-12 Midleton 1-2.
