Intermediate Football league Round 1
Glenville 1-07  Ballydesmond 1-08
Our Intermediates took the long trip to Ballydesmond for our first league game of the year. On a splendid pitch, a hard fought game ended in a one point defeat. A youthful Glenville team gave a tenacious display with some brilliant score taking and great accuracy with only one wide.
Joe O'Riordan gave a fine display in scoring a great goal and was ably helped by Josh Cooke and Eoin Fitzgerald in the forwards. Josh Carver and Donal Sheehan gave solid displays in defence. In fairness all the lads played well and it promises to be an exciting and fruitful season.

U18 league
Glenville  1-18 St .Michaels 0-03

Our u18 season is up and running since last Friday night when we played our first league game against St. Michael’s in Fouhy’s.  With the change to include a U18 league in this year’s Rebel Óg calendar it has made logistics a little difficult, balancing training across age groups, but with a mix of U16, U17 and U18 players we were able to field a team with a lot of running, no small degree of skill and a great attitude.  We started well, getting a few early points and the boys worked ferociously hard to keep St. Michael’s pinned into their own half, with the result that by half time we held a lead of 1-11 to no score, which was certainly not anticipated before the game.  With a good cushion it was possible to change formation and try a few things out in the second half, but after such a commanding first half performance the result was never in doubt and we ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-18 to 0-03.  With that level of scoring and so few conceded it was a night where everyone performed well, but Ciaran Linehan deserves special mention, kicking six points from play from wing forward, with Ciaran O’Leary also contributing handsomely, with 1-02 from wing back.  Overall it was a great start to the league, next up is Whitechurch at home on March 11th.  Team: C.Sheehan; C.McHugh, D.Forde, S.O’Leary; C.O’Leary (1-02), M.O’Driscoll, Co.O’Mahony; Ca.O’Mahony (0-02), L.Foley (0-04); B.O’Sullivan, B.Ryan (0-01), C.Linehan (0-06); C.O’Riordan (0-02), F.Fitzgerald, M.O’Riordan (0-01); S.Curtin, C.Buckley.
