Castlelyons GAA Notes.

Castlelyons host Cork Senior Hurlers.

A big evening last Thursday as the Cork senior panel and management gathered to train in Castlelyons. Straps and rubs, onto the field for a massive session of ball work. They were more than generous with their time to our enthusiastic juveniles who came along to meet the Rebels. They finished with some food supplied by Brooks Foods and on for home in dodgy weather. What a commitment! Just detected a great attitude about and some strong young players about on the night.

The Community Centre was certainly in full use on the night as Kieran Barrett was training the Under 13 in the Hall. Donal Howard and Denis Buckley took over then as they were preparing a cast for that famous play The Field. The Camogie girls were handing out new gear and had a big meeting. The Intermediates were training in the Gym and even one of the Cork panel availed of the bike there for recuperation. The Centre was immaculate with Michael Barrett having white tablecloths on the tables in the newly decorated rooms for the catering and whole place was a source of positive comment from the Cork team management and players. Thanks to Assumpta and Tony Rogers who cut the pitch for the occasion and had it in good order and our Groundsman Pat O Neill.

It will hopefully be a great year for the Cork hurlers and we are delighted to help the cause by providing or facilities for use.

Tickets now on Sale for Rebel’s Bounty

Tickets for the Rebel Bounty draw are now on sale. The Rebel Bounty Draw is becoming a key fundraiser for clubs like ourselves. The funding from this draw contributed €6,500 to the new ball

stop nets behind the goals, €2000 towards the new gym, and €6000 towards the €100,000 development loan we have. The money that has been raised also has been placed into the development fund. The Rebel Bounty draw has over €500,000 in prize money, 12 draws in the year and with over 30 prizes within each draw. There have been some sizeable Castlelyons winners over the last few years so the only way of being in with a chance to win is to buy a ticket. If you wish to buy a ticket you can contact any member of the GAA committee or visit gaacork.ie/rebels bounty and make sure to put Castlelyons as your club!

Entry will be for over 16s only. Further information will follow in the coming weeks.
