The light at the end of tunnel is getting bigger by the day. A huge development on Friday evening as the GAA announced a Roadmap for a ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ for the summer ahead. This week, while pitches & facilities remain closed, we will be allowed to open our walkway around the main field. Something, we will discuss in this week’s notes.
A CLUB TRIBUTE TO HONORARY VICE-PRESIDENT DICK DOOCEY RIP
Dick Doocey slipped away quietly and peacefully from this life in the early hours of last Sunday morning, May 31st. He was three days short of his 90th birthday. In those almost 90 years, he packed in a life full of adventures, friendships and achievements. In Killeagh he is remembered fondly for his huge commitment to Killeagh GAA and Killeagh Point-to-Point Races, two organisations in which he was centrally involved from the time of his arrival in Inchiquin in 1963. Dick’s early life in Deerpark, Lismore centred around his beloved Tourin GAA club.
Having won a county Junior hurling title in 1949, Tourin upset the Déise hurling landscape in 1950 when they beat famed Mount Sion to win their only county senior hurling title. A tiny club made up of a bunch of Fives and a troop of Dooceys, Tourin punched well above their weight, upsetting the city slickers. Dick continued his GAA career with further successes in football and in hurling in West Waterford, before he crossed the county bounds in 1963 to set up a new life in Inchiquin with his wife Carmel. Five children, Ann, Pat (RIP), Kevin, Ray and Tony followed. Pat unfortunately passed away in September 2013, after a long battle with illness, but not before he had lived a fulfilling life which included a great love of sport, in particular GAA, no doubt picked up from his father Dick. (One of Pat’s great days was being pitch-side in Pairc Ui Chaoimh when he saw Waterford bridge a 39-year gap to win the Munster Hurling Championship in 2002, a day I was privileged to spend with him).
On Dick’s arrival to the Killeagh/Youghal border, he was quickly recruited to throw in his lot with the Killeagh hurlers, with Jim Byrne (a fellow Lismore man, now residing in Killeagh and involved in GAA matters) and Tom Fitzgibbon (both now deceased) credited for making the approach to Dick. He quickly set about bringing a ‘senior hurling’ mentality to the junior hurlers of Killeagh, and within a few short years, he led, as player-manager, the first Killeagh team to win the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship in 1967, bringing the coveted Jamesy Kelleher Cup to Killeagh amid scenes of great joy. He repeated the trick as manager in 1970 and 1971, and he continued to promote that ‘senior hurling’ mentality all through the lean years of the 1970s and early 80’s, until further successes came in 1988, 1995 and 2001. He was with Killeagh every step of the way in all our on-field adventures, and always had a wise word for individual players, giving plenty of praise in tandem with a little encouragement or constructive suggestions for improvement - a true sports psychologist before ever the term was coined.
Dick’s other great success with Killeagh GAA, for which he should rightly be lauded, was his central role in securing a permanent home for Killeagh GAA. Throughout the 1960s and early 70s, a number of
potential sites were identified within range of the village that might make suitable grounds to develop, but for one reason or another, nothing ever came of them. In 1974, a field became available in Clashdermot, and three wise men, the aforementioned Tom Fitzgibbon, Pat Lynch and Dick Doocey, showed great resilience and bravery in securing this plot of land, which, through their work and the work of many after them, became, bit by bit, with extensions in the 1990s and the 2000s, the fine facility which is now Páirc Uí Chinnéide. That truly has proven to be just as valuable to our club as all the successes inside the white lines. This triumvirate subsequently became Trustees of the club, a post of responsibility which he held until his passing.
Dick remained avidly interested in all matters GAA, particularly in Killeagh, including social/community aspects of the club. On many occasions he encouraged club members and players to donate blood to the IBTS, while he was also a strong advocate of remembering deceased members at an annual Mass. In recent years, Dick was honoured with honorary life membership, while he was also club Vice-President, having previously served as chairman and secretary of the club and both East Cork Board delegate and East Cork Board Vice-Chairman in the 1980s.
In the past three months, many families have lost loved ones and have not been able to have the traditional ‘Irish funeral’. In Killeagh, we had already lost three men with strong GAA connections – Christy Hickey, William Kelly and our former chairman and board delegate Sean Murphy. Dick was another whose funeral arrangements had to be modified due to the current pandemic. Nevertheless, the turnout along the route of the cortege – through Castlemartyr, Killeagh, Inchiquin, Youghal bypass and Tourin before arriving in Lismore – of hundreds of people wishing to pay their respects to a great friend and colleague, was testament to his popularity and high esteem in which he was held, in a variety of circles.
Our sincere sympathies to Carmel, Ann, Kevin, Ray and Tony, to his son-in-law Vincent, daughter-in-law Flavia, grandchildren Anna and Giovanna, his brother Noel, sister Ann, and an unbelievably wide circle of friends, who will all miss ‘the chat’ with Dick. Slán Dick, a chara, the frequency and intensity of ‘hurling talk’ in the next life will no doubt have been greatly increased this week!

LOOKING DOWN MEMORY LANE
What a weekend it was this time last year as a special group of Under 14 players, went to win all six of their games in the Féile na nGael competition. Their manager Seamus Considine reminds us of the famous weekend the Killeagh-Itas team took over the County of Cork. It is all yours Seamus...
This past weekend saw the one year anniversary of the 2019 Féile na nGael success by the U-14 Killeagh-Ita boys and the club as a whole. It was on the 7th June last year when our club began the festivities in
what would turn out to be a very memorable weekend. With Páirc Uí Chinnide looking amazing in the glorious sunshine, the girls and boys from eight teams from around the country were led out onto the pitch by a lone piper. Seeing them all proudly displaying their club colours as the National Anthem was played was truly an amazing sight. The games got underway, as did the serving of countless cups of teas, coffees, sandwiches and cakes to the hundreds of people who came through the doors that weekend. Our hurling club were hosting the Liam Mellows club from Galway, who we still keep in contact with to this day. The boys had an amazing weekend, playing and winning all of their six games to become Féile na nGael All Ireland Division 6 Champions - the first ever Féile win for a Killeagh-Itas team. It was a weekend that will not be forgotten and the memories are all the better as a result of what has happened this year!
As a reminder of how good it was, below is the report of that weekend as it appeared in the weekly club notes:
A FIRST FÉILE SUCCESS & HISTORY MADE FOR KILLEAGH/ITAS There were some scenes of jubilation and joy at the grounds of Éire Óg on Sunday afternoon after Killeagh/Itas won their first ever Féile All Ireland Cup after winning out Division 6 going through all six games unbeaten. It all started last Friday (which seems so long ago now) when we had four visiting teams call down for two round robin games. Lisgoold, Mullinavat and our visitors for the weekend in Killeagh were Galway City based side, Liam Mellows (who won the 2017 Galway Senior Hurling Championship). We got off to a great start on Friday winning both our games in a good orderly fashion. Firstly, tearing into Kilkenny side Mullinavat and winning 4-13 to 3-2. While the second game saw defeat Lisgoold 7-7 to 1-6. We then split up the groups & welcomed them to our homes for the weekend. The craic and banter was mighty throughout Friday night but 10am Saturday morning came and we put it all a side for one 30 minute game. It was tit-for-tat throughout, but we out lasted in the battle and won that game 4-8 to 2-2. Then, we packed the jerseys & hurleys as we moved up to Carrigtwohill for a 3pm throw-in where after topping our group D, we advanced to the quarter final in the Cup Competition and faced our near friends Fr O’Neills who we lost to in the league only a couple of weeks prior to Féile commencing. It was a superb start with some great scores, a goal in the opening half from Sean Meade but the score of the competition undoubtedly coming from Colm Leahy where a flick of the wrist to bounce the sliotar off the ground, get into his hand and from inside 21 metres on left flank, struck the ball between the posts. Half time score Killeagh/Itas 2-5 Fr O’Neills 1-2. In the second half they were restricted to one score, a goal because of some outstanding defending throwing bodies on the line to keep literally everything out (that including the shower of rain) and with some great attacking prowess's up front, we motored to a 4-11 to 2-2 victory to move onto Sunday’s action. The boys were well up for this game - the best game of hurling that was have seen in a while at this level! Hooks, blocks, saves, hard tackles and scores from impossible angles and most importantly a never say die attitude helping us to win the game comfortably in the end. An outstanding performance of hurling from the boys who became men that afternoon.
We took some time out to relax on Saturday evening and enjoy a barbeque in Páirc Uí Chinnéide with our friends from Liam Mellows & our camogie colleagues from Killeagh & St. Rynaghs from Offaly. The food was enjoyable, the craic was good throughout and new friends have been made for a lifetime. On Sunday morning, we wished our friends from Galway a safe trip home before moving onto Ovens where a job had to be completed on a mission that we started on Friday evening. We had a tough semi-final task against Claremorris of Mayo, a team you could not find out much about so the team just concentrated on themselves and what they could do. By god, could they perform on the day. The opening minutes was hard going but the lads drove through the storm (quite literally with all the showers falling) and were up four points to two before a cracking goal from Sean Meade burying the sliotar into the bottom corner of the net and one minute later, a goal line scramble in the Claremorris Goal saw the goal kicked to the net by Darragh O’Brien. Half Time Killeagh/Itas 2-4 Claremorris 0-3. A point in the opening minute of the second half from Jack O’Connor got the ball rolling but there just sheer pressure from the Claremorris attack saw our defence hold out quite strong and we conceded only 1-1 in the next five minutes, this was to be their last score of the game. Dylan tacked on three points to the tally and to win the semi final 2-8 to 1-4. A great win for these lads but the day was not over yet. The All Ireland Féile na nGael Final was next at 3pm up against Mullinavat under the whistle of former inter County Referee Diarmuid Kirwin. We got away to a pulsating start with a goal inside forty seconds. Sean Meade got a second goal in the 6th minute, that set the Killeagh/Itas supporters alive and dreams were starting to become reality. McCarthy added two points from the four before half time leaving the score Killeagh/Itas 2-6 Mullinavat 0-0. The man wearing the 14 jersey was on fire all weekend and Sean Meades first possession in the 2nd half ended up in the Kilkenny net. Points from McCarthy, Leahy & Barry Walsh put the icing on the cake to this history making team who brought the first All Ireland Féile title home to Killeagh where they were brought on parade through the village on Sunday evening. What a weekend it has been for these bunch of lads and their families. They will be heading for Shrule in County Mayo at the end of June for the Féile na nÓg where they will make history as the only Killeagh/Itas panel to compete in both Féile in one season. We wish ye the best of luck for that, but this week we tip our hats and salute ye for the great effort put in by all! A huge thanks to everyone who played a part in this weekend to make it so special. Thanks to all the players who took part and now have an All-Ireland medal in their back pockets! The heroes of the weekend came back to a parade through Killeagh village, with lots of our community turning out to welcome us home!! This welcome made it a very special night for our young heroes who have brought so much joy, glory and excitement to both young and old in the Killeagh / Itas community. Thanks so much to the Manager Seamus Considine, mentors Declan Long, who has been a huge asset to this team for the last number of years, and to Pat Walsh who came on board this year and who has been an amazing addition! Special thanks to the U13 coaches Conor Murphy and Richie Lynch for all their help, support, and advice all year! Thanks also to Colm and Michael, our excellent kit men, and to Tadhg and his water boy buddies for all their help.
We will leave the final word on this to manager Seamus Considine. “Words cannot describe how much we appreciate the support we have received all weekend from the parents and families of these young men who have, as always, been a huge support to the them and their mentors. Also to those from our community, especially to all our amazing friends from the Camogie club who made a massive effort to support us this weekend. It means so much to us that you came to Ovens to cheer us on after a long weekend spent as hosting families and serving teas & coffees and doing so much at the Barbeque on Saturday night. Thank you all. We would not have had the amazing weekend we had without your support! This weekend will be full of lifelong memories, not so much for the medals and the accolades but for the friends made and the wonderful community spirit that exists within the GAA. No matter what county you are from or what colour jersey you wear, we are all GAA at heart, proven by the unbelievable support we received from our visiting club Liam Mellows from Galway. They were there to cheer us on in Carrigtwohill on Saturday and even though they were wet and cold on Sunday in Ovens and could have been on the road home to Galway, they stayed to support us in our semi-final win! We might have our clubs in our heart but we definitely are GAA to our core! Finally, to an amazing, resourceful, determined and skilled bunch of lads. It has been a pleasure and an honour but most importantly such a rewarding experience to see you all fulfill your potential to become the young men that you all are. Stay together, because together you can achieve so much more! We are all so, so proud of you!! Looking forward to Mayo so we can do the double!”

COACHING AND SAFEGUARDING COURSES
With games coming back on the horizon, we will need all our mentors and coaches to fulfil their duties of completing the respective Coaching & Safeguarding courses. As outlined prior to the Pandemic, all persons involved in helping out the team management or players that are in the Under 18 category will need to be E-Vetted.
We will be contacting the respective coaches who need to attend training in time, but for the moment we ask that ALL COACHES should start or complete the mandatory online E-Vetting process. You can do this by logging onto gaa.ie, search for the E-Vetting section and complete the necessary steps as outlined. CLUB MEMBERSHIP
With training due to resume in next few weeks and matches not long thereafter, we ask that all players should have their membership paid at this stage. If not, please contact our Registrar Ger Scully. Club members should also have their membership at this stage. It is important we gather this membership in a timely manner as your club must meet ongoing financial commitments on a monthly basis.
OFFICIAL GAA STATEMENT (5TH JUNE 2020)
The GAA, An Cumann Camogaíochta and the LGFA have today (Friday) published a plan for a safe return to Gaelic games for the three organisations.
The plan (attached) is the work of a specially appointed Advisory Committee, which included representatives of all three bodies, the GPA and a number of medical experts (see below for committee members).
It offers a route back to activity, subject to the government timelines being achieved in the weeks and months ahead.
It is broken down into sections covering Medical Advice; Preparing for a Safe Return; Information for Players and Team Personnel; Summary and Checklist; Roadmap for Return to Activity
Some of the stand-out elements of the report include:
· A gradual return to on-field non-contact activity in Phase Three of the Government plan in small groups.
· The need for an online education programme and new measures around temperature checking and completed documentation before training and games.
· A return to contact sport on July 20.
· Provisional windows for club activity and the return of inter-county training and competitions.
The document mirrors the Government roadmap and outlines the opt-in approach of the wider Gaelic games family regarding a possible return to activity and play.
It is being distributed to all units today with a view to providing them with time to put in place the necessary arrangements to facilitate a return to activity. (see attached for Guidelines on ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’.)
COVID-19 HEALTH GUIDELINES
With the GAA announcing on Friday that all GAA facilities and pitches are to remain closed until June 29th, which means that no GAA, Camogie or LGFA activities shall take place until then at the earliest. We constantly are striving to improve our facilities by carrying out essential work throughout Páirc Uí Chinnéide. Over the next three weeks, please take note of the following points that should be noted by all members;
1. All training, team gatherings & meetings remain suspended until June 29th at earliest.
2. A directive from Croke Park states that "Club gyms are to be closed and access suspended". Therefore, our Gym will be closed until further notice.
3. All clubrooms & dressing room facilities are to remain closed until mid-August at earliest in accordance with the GAA Roadmap on ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’. We ask the ALL MEMBERS adhere to this directive.
4. The pitches are closed for use, we ask ALL MEMBERS to refrain from use of any these facilities.
5. Our walkway will be reopened at Páirc Uí Chinnéide this week. Please read the notice below and adhere to any instruction on our Stewards or to our Covid-19 Officer.
6. We ask all players, club members, parents of children in our Underage section & spectators to read the ‘Guidelines on Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ which is attached below. This is a living but important and essential document to understand on how to return to some normality in 2020.
7. We ask that people using our walkway should be located within the 20km recommended radius and that you ‘Stay Local’ and where possible ‘Stay at Home’. If shopping, support Local Businesses.
8. To minimise the risk of the Coronavirus spreading, our club shop will remain closed until further notice.
9. Please follow all guidelines issued to the public by Government and HSE and especially those on hand washing, cough etiquette, face coverings, hygiene and social distancing both indoors and outdoors.
10. Please offer appropriate support to your neighbours, elderly people & those at risk in our community - checking in with a regular phone call is a good way to do this or helping them by purchasing their shopping during the week.

PÁIRC UÍ CHINNÉIDE WALKWAY REOPENS THIS WEEK
Of course, as seen on the 6.01pm News on RTÉ One, Marty Morrissey reported outside the front gate of Páirc Uí Chinnéide as the GAA announced on Thursday that clubs would be allowed to open walkways upon application to their respective county boards. We have sent in our documentation to the Secretary of the Cork County Board.
While we await the confirmation from the County Board at the time of writing, when we do open, we would kindly ask all patrons to follow these regulations & Government/GAA Guidelines while using the walkway over the next few weeks;
1. The grounds will be open on a weekday basis for WALKING ONLY ON THE WALKWAY from 4pm until 8pm. Everybody who arrives to Páirc Uí Chinnéide will be required to sign in for Contact Tracing purposes.
2. Between 4-5pm, only those over 70 years old or those who are considered as in the ‘At Risk’ groups (eg. Those in medical conditions, health care workers, anyone cocooning) may walk during this period. We ask people to respect this time for those cocooning.
3. Unfortunately, there will be no hurling, football, bikes, scooters etc. allowed on the premises. Nobody will be allowed on any of the pitches or allowed play at the ball wall. While we as a club know that this is very restrictive, we need and must follow to Government & HSE Guidance at all times while the Walkway is in use.
4. Please observe social distancing (2m apart), walk in an anti-clockwise direction around the main pitch only and be mindful of others. Please keep off the newly seeded banks and grass margins as these are just about starting to grow.
5. Upon arrival, please use the hand sanitizer that will be available (or bring your own).
6. The Clubhouse will remain closed in accordance with the ‘Safe Return to Gaelic Games’ Roadmap until August 10th. There will be toilets open for essential use.
7. Please spend no more than 90 minutes at the pitch so that everyone will have an opportunity to walk safely.
8. If you are unwell, feel sick or have any symptoms of Covid-19, please do not come to Páirc Uí Chinnéide, stay at home and self-isolate as per Public Health advice.
We will require volunteer stewards over the next three weeks while the walkway is open. Stewards will be required to complete a two hour block between 4-8pm. If you are available and willing to help, please contact Colman on 085-7540973 to make yourself known. Any changes to the above will be notified on our Social Media or on this column next week.
KILLEAGH HEALTHY CLUBS/SENIOR HURLING TEAM FUNDRAISER
Our senior Hurling panel completed their fundraiser on Monday June 1st which was raising money for the local Youghal Community Hospital, which has been serving our local community for many years.
As part of the fundraiser, the panel went on a 26-mile soloing marathon around the Killeagh Parish going through 50 townlands both north and south of the Village. We had so many people out supporting both young and old, it was a joy to see and watch as they joined in with the efforts of the team.
A huge thanks to the lads who togged out and gave up their time to walk, jog, run & even cycle the route. It will be well worth it in the long run. In the end, the fundraiser which continued until Sunday Night last, has raised a staggering €8,834!! Well done to everyone involved!!
And a word of well done to their Coach Colm Crowley who amassed 23 miles on his tour around the parish to raise money for the local charity, well done Colm!! I hope the feet were not too sore Monday night!!

The latest club draw took place on Tuesday 2nd of June. Last week’s Lotto Jackpot was €7,200. The numbers drawn on the night were 1, 11, 22 & 23. We had no winner of this week’s jackpot. The €30 Lucky Dip winners drawn were Eileen O’Callaghan & Mai Galvin, while the €30 voucher for Old Thatch Restaurant, Killeagh was won by Orla Kelleher & the €30 voucher for East Cork Oil, Burgess was won by Denis Barry. #GAAPrimary Challenges
The #GAAPrimary Challenges is a series of learning & physical activities for children in Primary School. During these particularly challenging times for families, the #GAAPrimary Challenges are designed to help teachers and parents to work on the cross-curricular lesson plans with children to meet their learning needs. Gaelic games-themed lessons are across all curriculum subjects and are for children at every class level, based on the GAA Céim ar Aghaidh/Step Ahead resource. For some fresh air and physical exercise, inter-county stars set Skill Challenges weekly that can be done at or near your home. There are also fun competitions and prizes to be won on the @GAAlearning twitter page. Webinar Series
To help coaches through this difficult period, the GAA, an Cumann Camogaíochta & the LGFA have created a series of Coach Development Webinar sessions taking place on Tuesdays & Thursday at 7.30pm. Coach Survey
The Coach Survey was launched this week with the GAA, LGFA & Camogie Association joining forces to help shape the future development of Gaelic games. The aim of the survey is to get to know more about coache’s involvement, their role, experiences and how they envisage their coaching future. The form can be accessed through the link below. Pitch Advice
Our pitches have seldom been quieter than they have been for the last two and a half months. However, when we do return, it’s likely they will be in high demand by various club teams.
Many clubs have been maintaining their playing facilities over the course of the pandemic.

Time Capsule
Amid all the stress and strain and sadness of these uncertain days there is also the realisation that these are historic times. In that vein, the GAA History Committee is encouraging clubs and counties to actively record the experience of clubs during this pandemic – for the benefit of future generations to review and learn from.
As Colin Regan, the GAA Community Manager, said: “When our games stopped, our people didn’t.” This is an opportunity to record and time capsule the work done by the GAA in our communities. Get thinking about those in your club who might be interested in documenting memories from this time for future members and keep an eye out for more on this in the time ahead.
Grassroots Club Stories Project
In the coming weeks, the GAA in association with Ballpoint Press Ltd, will launch a project to try and capture engaging and amusing stories from around our wider club network, both at home and abroad.
It is planned to publish the stand-out stories that are collected in a new book and all stories recorded will be added to the GAA archive at Croke Park.
The intention is to capture part of our shared folklore through stories that may be well known in given localities but not to wider audiences. Look out for more information in the coming weeks.
Fundraising
Many of our units will face challenges in the coming months after the long closure. A large number of our clubs have been involved in incredible fundraising initiatives since the outbreak of the pandemic built around sporting endeavours, including long distance team cycling and running.
Might some of these same initiatives be re-purposed by members to raise funds for our clubs?
Other opportunities which will present themselves in the weeks ahead should include the return of our Club Lottos and the annual GAA National Club Draw.
GAANOW
We may not have a schedule of live games to cover, but we have been working to bring our members and supporters the best of our games from bygone years. Every week we are showing a whole host of full games and highlights from the GAANOW archive.
From County Glory Days to All-Ireland Finals to Hall of Fame highlights, all of these videos can be shared across your Club’s social media accounts. www.GAA.ie/Clubs – the GAA’s new Club Dashboard Club officers and administrators no longer need to remember different URLs for membership, insurance, transfers, etc. – you’ll now find everything on the GAA Club Dashboard.

Activities at Home
For both younger and older kids, we’re creating lots to keep everyone occupied. From weekly activity packs for juvenile members, to information on organising online sessions and learning-focused Primary School activities, the Activities at Home section of GAA has lots available for you to share with your members. Organising Online Exercise and Coaching Sessions The temporary postponement of our games and training sessions has undoubtedly impacted on many of us including our underage teams and the children and young people in our clubs, i.e. those under 18 years of age and their families.
It is however always gratifying to hear of coaches and clubs who have recently contacted us seeking permission during these restricted times to deliver live online exercise and coaching sessions for our underage teams. With the correct safety guidance and good practices in place, we wish to support such initiatives.
In the downloads section of this page you will find protocols around organising these sessions, outlining the safeguards that must be adhered to when staging this type of activity and a guide to using ‘Microsoft Teams’, an online collaboration tool which is available to holders of official GAA email addresses and can be used to organise club activities with members.

The 'Club Together' initiative in association with Centra and Super Valu continues this week. A freephone 1800 number for people to use from Cork County Council 1800 805 819 with the lines open from 8AM to 8PM seven days a week. In the absence of the number, and even when it is in use, people
in our community can make direct contact from today with Ray Rochford on 087-2330054 to request help with shopping or other necessary support.
Ray will link volunteers with those requiring help in their own local area to limit travel & to keep a personal connection with people you know. Please don't hesitate to ask for help, we have many volunteers ready to assist. Please spread the word which is supported by the Killeagh-Inch COVID-19 Action Group.

We are a voluntary support group that have come together to help in the Killeagh/Inch area. Our purpose is to help any individual/ family in the area who can’t leave their home for any reason to access things like shops, pharmacies or even to walk your dog.
It doesn’t matter to us if you are: self-isolating, have the virus or are just afraid to go out under these circumstances – it is none of our business! We will be taking our own precautions to protect ourselves and you.
Once your shopping is done, if you know anyone on the list and would prefer them to deliver your shopping that can be requested too and we will do our best to accommodate that where possible.
Items will be dropped off at a point outside your home as agreed by you and the contact person. AT NO POINT WILL ANYONE ENTER YOUR HOME AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL APPLY AT ALL TIMES (2 METRES). RING TOO IF YOU SIMPLY WANT TO CHAT TO SOMEONE.

KILLEAGH GAA GOLF SOCIETY:
With the current climate, we have decided to postpone of Annual Golf Classic until September 3rd, 4th & 5th 2020. Please, spread the word (not the virus)! This is a tough decision for us all but the right one especially with the current conditions we are in. One thing for sure, as our playing time will be slightly more limited than our annual fixture in July, it is important for teams to book themselves onto the timesheet early.
We are seeking MAJOR SPONSORS to help us proceed with the Annual Golf Classic for 2020! Remember we had 147 teams last year which saw over 400 people play throughout the event and the plenty advertising prior to the event also! Or if you want to sponsor one of the biggest three-day amateur Golf Classics around, you can also book a Classic Sponsorship or a Tee Box Sponsorship through Ray on 087-2330054 who has further details.
With the golf courses open and everyone adhering to social distance measures, there are big numbers out taking to the courses locally. We ask all our members & guests to please keep adhering to their relevant club guidelines & protocols regarding Social Distancing, Hand Sanitizers, Local Club rules etc. These are important times to support the clubs in their return to action. Be safe and sensible and enjoy the next few weeks.
Unfortunately, Society & Competition Golf (Open & Closed) will not return until June 29th at earliest. Therefore, we have been forced into re-fixing some outings for the year ahead.
Our first confirmed fixture of the newly re-jigged season is the 1st round of the Golfer of the Year competition to Youghal Golf Club which takes place on Sunday July 5th from 2pm. The timesheet is really busy already so the advice is to contact Ray ASAP on 087-2330054.
We have our 2nd round fixture of the Golfer of the Year competition has been provisionally penciled in for July 23rd or 30th. We will confirm as soon the club confirms the date.
Our Captain’s Prize will take place on the weekend of August 15th/16th in Castlemartyr Resort. Again, a note for the diary as it is the 3rd leg of the Golfer of the Year competition!
Our weekend away to Druids Glen hopefully will take place at the end of July. Because of the latest news regarding the hospitality sector reopening in early July. For more information, please contact Society Captain Pádraig McGrath or Treasurer Tim Crotty.
And our rescheduled day out to West Waterford Golf Club for the Margaret Rochford & Tom Fitzgibbon Charity Day is to be rescheduled for later in the year. While we hope to have a fixture in Lismore at some stage too, hopefully sooner rather than later.
